A new trailer has been released for the dramatic thriller The Forgiven, starring Academy Award-nominee Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter) and Academy Award-winner Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, The Eyes of Tammy Faye). The film was directed by John Michael McDonagh, who adapted the script from a novel by Lawrence Osborne.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Arriving late at the grand villa with the debauched party raging, the couple attempts to cover up the incident with the collusion of the local police. But when the boy’s father arrives seeking justice, the stage is set for a tension-filled culture clash in which David and Jo must come to terms with their fateful act and its shattering consequences.”

This looks like a really crazy movie about a whole lot of unlikable people. Check out the trailer below and watch The Forgiven when it’s released in theaters on July 1, 2022.

ANDOR Showrunner Tony Gilroy Teases Series Saying What You Might Know About STAR WARS Canon Is “Really All Wrong”

The upcoming Star Wars series Andor is one of the Star Wars projects that fans seem least excited about. The series offers a backstory on Diego Luna‘s Cassian Andor, who was introduced to us in Rogue One. Now, while I thought Rogue One was a great movie, Cassian Andor was one of the least interesting characters. Maybe this series will make his character interesting, though.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy has now offered some new details on the series, and this new information is sure to rial up some fans. It turns out that the story this show tells is going to mess with some Star Wars canon, and I’m sure some fans are going to love to hear that! In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Gilroy said:

“There are certain events that happen in these five years that are important and need to be paid attention to. There are certain people, characters that are legacy characters, that the audience, the passionate audience, really feels that they have an understanding of and know. In some cases, they’re right. And in some cases, what we’re saying is, ‘What you know, what you’ve been told, what’s on Wookieepedia, what you’ve been telling each other … is really all wrong.”

Gilroy goes on to explain:

“It’s upside down, or it’s sideways, or it’s the opposite of what you thought was true. Or it’s way more interesting than you had ever thought. Or that’s a lie and there’s a reason for it. I would say that there’s some surprises in store.”

It’ll be interesting to see what that all means when we’re finally able to watch Andor. The 12-episode series is set five years before the events of Rogue One and is said to be a “tense, nail-biting spy thriller.” The story focuses on Rebel agent Andor in the early days of the Rebellion against the Empire.

The series is described as a “refugee story” that sees people trying to escape from a fully powered Empire. Luna previously said: “It’s the journey of a migrant. That feeling of having to move is behind this story, very profoundly and very strong. That shapes you as a person. It defines you in many ways, and what you are willing to do.”

I’m open to new ideas, I’m open to surprises. I hope that this show does deliver something unexpectedly cool and exciting. All this talk of messing with canon certainly makes me a lot more curious than I previously was about the series. We’ll just have to wait and see what it all means!

John Carpenter’s THE THING Coming To Theaters For Its 40 Anniversary!

I’ve never had the opportunity to watch John Carpenter’s classic 1982 sci-fi horror film The Thing in a theater on the big screen. But, it looks like that opportunity has finally presented itself! Carpenter announced that The Thing is coming back to theaters for a limited two-day run for its 40th anniversary.

The movie will be available to watch in theaters on June 19th, 2022, and June 22nd, 2022. If you want to grab tickets, they’re on sale now at Fathom Events.

My parents have pictures of me as a toddler wearing a t-shirt for The Thing that they got as a promotional item at the theater they saw it at all those years ago. My parents were obviously steering me in the right direction when it came to movies.

The Thing is one of those movies that no matter how many times I watch it, it’s a joy and it still holds up after all these years. I especially love those old-school practical special effects! It’ll be a lot of fun watch this movie on the big screen!

Director John Carpenter (Halloween) teams Kurt Russell’s outstanding performance with incredible visual effects to create a chilling version of the classic The Thing. Set in the winter of 1982 at a research station in Antarctica, a twelve-man research team finds an alien being that has fallen from the sky and has remained buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon it is unfrozen and unleashed, creating havoc and terror as it changes forms and becomes one of them.

The event will also screen a documentary for the film, Terror Takes Shape. I also included a trailer that was released for the event. You can check it out below Carpenter’s announcement video.

Ryan Gosling Vs. Chris Evans in Action-Packed Trailer For The Russo Bros. THE GREY MAN

Netflix has unleashed the first trailer for Joe and Anthony Russo’s upcoming $200 million+ spy thriller The Grey Man! This trailer is packed full of big action sequences as Chris Evans is called on to locate and destory Ryan Gosling. As you’ll see, this proves to be a difficult task.

But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out. Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has his back. He’ll need it.

The movie is based on the best-selling book series by Mark Greaney and it looks like the Russo Bros. There was a great idea at the center of this book, where it’s not just about being a spy, but being the most extreme version of one, where you have to hide your own identity — and yourself.”

The screenplay for the film was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who previously worked on Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, along with all three Captain America films.

First Look Photo of Morgan Freeman and Josh Hutcherson in Sci-Fi Thriller 57 SECONDS

A first look photo has been released from the sci-fi thriller 57 Seconds, starring Morgan Freeman and Josh Hutcherson. They are joined in the cast by Lovie Simone (Selah & the Spades, The Craft: Legacy), Greg Germann (Once Upon a Time), and Bevin Bru (Batwoman, Ramy), as well as Sammi Rotibi, Mark Jacobson, D.A. Obahor, David Kallaway, AJ Rome, Kenneth Kynt Bryan, Matthew Jason Cwern, and Marcus Brown round out the ensemble.

The film is directed by Rusty Cundieff (Tales From the Hood, Chappelle’s Show) and written by Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore), and is based on the acclaimed story by British author E.C. Tubbs.

In 57 Seconds, “tech blogger Franklin Fausti (Hutcherson) lands a career-defining interview with the visionary technology guru Anton Burrell (Morgan Freeman). After thwarting an attack against the celebrated technophile, Franklin picks up a mysterious ring that Burrell has dropped and soon discovers the ring allows its possessor to travel 57 seconds into the past. Driven by revenge and with Burrell’s support, Franklin uses the ring to dismantle the pharmaceutical company responsible for his sister’s death. But he soon gets entangled in a treacherous and brutal chain of events with much more than his own destiny at stake.”

George Miller is Still Planning To Make a MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Sequel

George Miller is currently preparing to shoot his Mad Max: Fury Road prequel film Furiosa with Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth. That film will focus on the character originally played by Charlize Theron. But, that’s not the only story in the Mad Max universe that Miller is looking to tell!

Miller is still planning on making a sequel to Fury Road, which is titled Mad Max: The Wasteland. He recently said in an interview with Variety: “We do have another story but it’s still not fully evolved. We’ll see further down the chain.”

There aren’t any details on what this sequel will entail, but Tom Hardy initially signed a three-picture deal for the franchise. So, unless that’s changed, we’ll most likely see him back in the role of Max Rocksteady. All I know is that I love the Mad Max franchise and the fact Miller is making more films set in that universe is awesome and exciting!

Miller also offered an update on Furiosa, which has started shooting in Australia. He said: “I’ll tell you how it’s going when it’s finished, but it has got off to a lovely start. All I can say about my excitement about doing it is that it’s definitely exciting, because even though it’s certainly of that world of Fury Road, it’s also got a lot of the differences we’ve been talking about. Again, it’s uniquely familiar. And probably the biggest difference is the timespan. Fury Road happened over three days and two nights and this one happens over 15 years. So, it’s a saga.”

I can’t wait to see what Miller has planned for this franchise, and the future stories he’s looking to tell! The first of which is Furiosa, which will open in theaters on May 24th, 2024.

Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette Join Robert Pattinson in Director Bong Joon Ho’s Next Film

Bong Joon Ho (Parasite, Snowpiercer, The Host) is prepping to shoot his next film project with Robert Pattinson, and he’s just added three new actors to the cast. Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, and Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker) have joined the project, which is based on the novel Mickey7 written by Edward Ashton.

This will be Joon Ho’s first film since he made Parasite, and he will write, direct, and produce. The novel’s story follows Mickey7, “who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.”

The novel has yet to be published, but it’s said the film may end up being different from the novel’s story. Joon Ho is an incredible filmmaker and I have no doubt that he’s going to take this story and turn it into an awesome movie. So far, he’s managed to put together a great cast!

The movie is set up at Warner Bros. and as of right now, there’s no release date.

The Gray Man is based on the best-selling book series by Mark Greaney, and Gosling takes on the role of Court Gentry, aka Sierra Six, a highly-skilled CIA black ops mercenary. Billy Bob Thorton also stars in the film as Six’s handler Donald Fitzroy, and de Armas takes on the role of Agent Dani Miranda, a CIA operative who has Six’s back. The rest of the cast includes Rege-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Elme Ikwuakor, Michael Gandolfini, Sam Lerner, Robert Kazinsky, and Alfre Woodard.

This is a huge film project for Netflix as they spent over $200 million dollars on the movie! Hopefully it pays off for them because Netflix is going through some rough times right now and they have been cancelling all kinds of projects.

Anthony Russo previously talked about the film saying: “We’re big fans of the spy genre, and we’re always looking for ways of how to twist it, or supercharge it, or push it into areas that feel fresh.
