The Original Teaser Trailer For THE GOONIES is Pretty Awesome Marketing

Here’s the original trailer for Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner’s classic 1985 adventure film The Goonies.

There’s a chance that some of you may have never seen this before and after being reminded of it, I had to share it!

This video was taken from a rare 35mm early promotional teaser trailer. It gives nothing away in terms of what the movie was about, but it has some fun building the anticipation by playing on Donner and Spielberg’s previous movie successes.

I love how the film’s title is made up of logos from the filmmaker’s previous movies. This is just awesome marketing!

The story follows a group of misfit kids, self-named ‘The Goonies,’ who reside in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon.

Facing the foreclosure of their homes due to an expanding country club, the kids discover an old pirate map in the attic of one of their homes. This map sparks an exciting adventure to uncover the long-lost treasure of a legendary 17th-century pirate, One-Eyed Willy.

As they embark on this daring adventure, they navigate booby-trapped caves, befriend unlikely allies, and evade a family of criminals who are chasing them down.
