John Malkovich, Emily Mortimer, and Claes Bang are set to join the upcoming Apple drama series The New Look. Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche lead the series with Maisie Williams also starring.
The story is set against the World War II Nazi Occupation of Paris when “Coco Chanel’s (Binoche) reign as the world’s most famous fashion designer ends and Christian Dior (Mendelsohn) rises helping return spirit and life to the world with his ground-breaking, iconic brand.”
Malkovich is set to play Lucien Lelong, “President of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture whose influential eponymous fashion house employed Dior and Balmain during the Occupation.”

The series is described as “A World War II-era thriller,” and the story centers on “the pivotal moment in the 20th century when fashion icons such as Christian Dior allowed Paris to lead the world back to life after the war. The saga will show portray Dior’s complex relationship with famous designer contemporaries and rival, for instance Coco Chanel, Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent, among others.”
The New Look is written by Todd A. Kessler, who will also executive produce and direct.
Since there’s a good amount of stunt work in Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, there are stuntmen to step in the shoes of Ewan McGregor’s Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader. Now we’ve got a behind-the-scenes set photo to share with you today that puts the spotlight on these stuntmen.
The photo below features Tom O’Connell as Darth Vader and Ross Kohnstam as Obi-Wan. I have massive respect for stuntmen and stuntwomen and what they do. I mean, they put themselves in dangerous, sometimes death-defying situations for our viewing entertainment.
The photo was shared by O’Connell, who also included the following note: “David Prowse. Bob Anderson. Hayden Christensen. Spencer Wilding/Daniel Naprous. I’m beyond honored to help fill the massive shoes for this go ’round. Thank you Deborah Chow. Thank you #jojoeusebio. Thank you Ewan! Thank you Hayden! Thank you universe!”
They actually had a Darth “Vader movement specialist” come in to help the actor and stuntmen bring Vader to life. Christensen previously said:
“That was something that we spent a lot of time working on. And this suit really just informs the way you move….We had this woman who was like a Vader movement specialist, and she made sure that we were always in the right ballpark. Certainly, we wanted to make sure that we were staying true to how Vader moves and how we perceive him, and wanting to keep all that relatively consistent.”
So, that’s a job! If you have perfected the art of how Vader moves, you could actually make some money off that knowledge! Crazy.
Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean) has joined the cast of the comedy feature Wizards!, in which he will star alongside Pete Davidson, Naomi Scott, Franz Rogowski and Sean Harris. Australian writer-director David Michôd is directing the film from a script he wrote with based on a story by Joel Edgerton and Michôd.
“The film follows two hapless pothead beach-bar operators (Davidson and Rogowski) who run into trouble when they stumble across stolen loot that they really should have just left alone.”
Bloom will next be seen starring in season 2 of Amazon’s Carnival Row which he executive produces and he is currently in production on Ian and Eshom Nelms’ Red Right Hand opposite Andie MacDowell.
BioWare recently revealed that the next adventure in the Dragon Age series is Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Sadly, there weren’t many other details given to us other than more information is on its way and do not expect the game to release this year.
The team also shared information about who the Dread Wolf is, or rather how no one quite seems to know who or what the Dread Wolf is outside of the name Solas. Are you excited for the next chapter? What do you hope to see in Dreadwolf?
Who is the Dread Wolf?
Solas, the Dread Wolf. Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw has a psychological thriller series coming to Apple TV+ titled Surface and today we have our first look, which some additional details to share!

As Sophie embarks on a quest to put the pieces of her life back together with the help of her husband and friends, she begins to question whether or not the truth she is told is in fact the truth she has lived.”
The series comes from High Fidelity’s Veronica West and the series also stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Stephan James, Ari Graynor, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Francois Arnaud and Millie Brady.
The series will consist of eight episodes, the first three of which will drop on July 29th. New episodes will drop weekly every Friday.
Brad Pitt’s upcoming action film Bullet Train looks like it’s going to be an incredibly fun movie-going experience. I love these kinds of quirky action movies and there’s no doubt that director David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2, and Hobbs & Shaw) made a film that audiences are going to have a blast watching!
I’ve got two new TV spots for the movie to share with you today, and they offer up some exciting and amusing new footage.
The film is based on the Japanese novel, Maria Beetle, written by Kotaro Isaka. The story follows five assassins who “find themselves on a fast-moving bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka with only a few stops in between. They discover their missions are not unrelated to each other. The question becomes who will make it off the train alive and what awaits them at the terminal station?”
The movie features an ensemble cast of “eclectic, diverse assassins – all with connected yet conflicting objectives – set against the backdrop of a non-stop ride through modern-day Japan.” The full cast includes Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Sandra Bullock,Lady Gaga, Masi Oka, and Andrew Koji.
Sony Pictures will release Bullet Train in theaters on July 15th, 2022.
Apple TV+ has released a trailer for a new comedy series titled Loot. Maya Rudolph stars in the series as Molly Novak, a billionaire who is getting a divorce and is “ready to save the world.”
In the series, “After divorcing her husband of 20 years, Molly Novak must figure out what to do with her $87 billion settlement. She decides to reengage with her charitable foundation and reconnect with the real world—finding herself along the way.”
The series was created by Alan Yang (Little America, Master of None, Parks and Recreation) and Matt Hubbard (30 Rock, Forever, Parks and Recreation), and it looks like a charming and funny series. There’s a lot of great creative talent involved with the project, and I’ll definitely be watching.
The series also stars Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Pose), Ron Funches (Undateable), Nat Faxon (Married) and Joel Kim Booster (Sunnyside).
Hot Toys has revealed an awesome new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness collectible action figure, and this one features Dead Strange. I was hoping that Hot Toys would develop an action figure for this zombie version of Strange, so it was great to see that they have, and they did an incredible job bringing it to life in action figure form! The attention to detail on this thing is incredible, and I want one so bad!
It’s been a long time since I’ve purchased a Hot Toys figure, and I really want to pull the trigger on this one. My wife might kill me, though, if I do! Worth it? Maybe.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – 1/6th scale Dead Strange Collectible Figure
“This time it’s gonna take more than killing me to kill me.”
Doctor Strange dreamwalks into his variant’s corpse from the post-incursion universe. When Dead Strange heads for Mount Wundagore for the final showdown, he’s set upon by the Souls of Damned, who scream at him for possessing a dead body. This desecrates the natural order of the universe, and the hellish sprits were sent to stop him.
Today, Hot Toys thrilled to present the highly-anticipated 1/6th scale Dead Strange collectible figure and his cape of demons inspired by the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Meticulously crafted based on the appearance of Benedict Cumberbatch as Dead Strange in the movie, the figure features a newly developed head sculpt and hair sculpture with disgustingly beautiful details; a decaying tunic outfit and sculpted boots, a distressed cape with sculpted heads of demons; the greatly detailed Souls of Damned accessories to drag on Strange, and a dynamic figure base.
The Dead Strange figure will surely be a unique one to your Marvel collection!

Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer for a new period horror drama titled 1899. The series comes from Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, who previously created the Dark series.
1899 is described as a “visually stunning Odyssee where nothing is as it seems. The makers of the internationally acclaimed series Dark, take us to the year 1899 aboard the Kerberos. What is lost will be found.”
As you’ll see in the trailer, dark and sinister things are afoot. I also included a video that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the series, and they used the same Volume technology that Lucasfilm has been using for their Star Wars shows.
1899 looks like a great show and I look forward to diving into it! Emily Beecham stars in the series.
Universal Pictures and Illumination have released a new trailer for Minions: The Rise of Gru and most of the footage in it is from a sequence in which the Minions take an airplane full of passengers on a crazy dangerous joy ride. If you’re a fan of the previous films that involve Minions, changes are you’re gonna enjoy what this one is going to deliver.
In this film, we get to meet Gru as a child in the ‘70s with the ambition of being the world greatest villain, and he’s also got his Minions around to help him realize his dream. The movie also introduces the Vicious 6, the team of villains that Gru is hoping to become evil enough to join. When the Vicious 6 fire their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles, Gru interviews to become their newest member.
Here’s the synopsis:
This summer, from the biggest global animated franchise in history, comes the origin story of how the world’s greatest supervillain first met his iconic Minions, forged cinema’s most despicable crew and faced off against the most unstoppable criminal force ever assembled in Minions: The Rise of Gru.
Long before he becomes the master of evil, Gru (Steve Carell) is just a 12-year-old boy in 1970s suburbia, plotting to take over the world from his basement. It’s not going particularly well. When Gru crosses paths with the Minions, including Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto—a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please—this unexpected family joins forces. Together, they build their first lair, design their first weapons, and strive to execute their first missions.
When the infamous supervillain supergroup, the Vicious 6, oust their leader—legendary martial arts fighter Wild Knuckles (Alan Arkin)— Gru, their most devoted fanboy, interviews to become their newest member. The Vicious 6 is not impressed by the diminutive, wannabe villain, but then Gru outsmarts (and enrages) them, and he suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. With Gru on the run, the Minions attempt to master the art of kung fu to help save him, and Gru discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.
The voice cast for the film includes Vicious 6 members: Taraji P. Henson as cool and confident leader Belle Bottom, whose chain belt doubles as a lethal disco-ball mace; Jean-Claude Van Damme as the nihilistic Jean Clawed, who’s armed (literally) with a giant robotic claw; Lucy Lawless as Nunchuck, whose traditional nun’s habit hides her deadly nun-chucks; Dolph Lundgren as Swedish roller-skate champion Svengeance, who dispenses his enemies with spin kicks from his spiked skates; and Danny Trejo as Stronghold, whose giant iron hands are both a menace to others and a burden to him.
The film also stars Russell Brand as Young Dr. Nefario, an aspiring mad scientist, Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow, an acupuncturist with mad kung fu skills, and Julie Andrews as Gru’s maddeningly self-absorbed mom.
Minions: The Rise of Gru will hit theaters on July 2, 2021.
