Brandon Routh & Courtney Ford Are Leaving DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

Brandon Routh & Courtney Ford Are Leaving DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

Although DC’s Legends of Tomorrow won’t be back for its fifth season until next year, the show is going to be a part of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, it’s too soon to say if the Legends will emerge intact from the crossover. And at least two cast members are exiting the show this season.

Deadline is reporting that Brandon Routh and his wife, Courtney Ford, are set to leave Legends of Tomorrow. Routh originated his role as Ray Palmer/the Atom, in Arrow season 3. Routh reprised his part for four seasons of Legends of Tomorrow as well. Ford made her debut as Nora Darhk in the third season of Legends of Tomorrow. Ford became a series regular in the fourth season, as Nora and Ray explored their romantic feelings for each other.

“Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family,” said series producers Phil Klemmer, Grianne Godfree, and Keto Shimizu in a statement to Deadline. “They have always brought a level passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show — both on and off the screen – that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”

It’s unclear how long Routh and Ford will remain with the series in season 5. Routh will also play the Kingdom Come Superman in Crisis. Routh first portrayed the Man of Steel in Superman Returns in 2006. Caity Lotz and Dominic Purcell will be the only remaining original Legends of Tomorrow cast members upon Routh’s departure.

Legends of Tomorrow season 5 will premiere in early 2020.

JOKER Star Marc Maron Says Marvel Movies Are From “Grown, Male Nerd Childs”

It’s always weird to hear someone come out and start talking crap about the Marvel films and the fans. The Marvel movies are just so well made and the stories they’ve told have been so awesome! But, obviously not everyone is a fan.

Marc Maron, who has a role in DC’s upcoming Joker movie, recently appeared on Conan and explains that he’s not going to be bullied into watching Marvel movies, because they are for “grown, male nerd childs.” Here’s his full comment:

“I have some issues with them and I generally don’t like them. I don’t wanna be bullied into seeing those movies. I’m a grown-up, I’m not seven, and I think those movies are for grown, male nerd childs.”

After the audience groaned at the statement, he said:

“Oh, really? Take the hit! You guys are in charge of culture. Now I gotta go travel 15-20 minutes to a smaller movie theater to see a grown-up movie with other grown-ups where we can all sit together and not understand the ending? That’s part of the experience. Where you walk out and you’re like, ‘I don’t know, did the guy die? It’s not clear.’ That’s the kind of movie I enjoy. I’m not gonna be bullied by grown, nerd men. I just don’t go see them, I’m not interested. Maybe I overdid it a little bit.”

Well, if he’s never seen them, he doesn’t know what he’s missing. Oh well, it’s his loss. On top of that his generalization is way off. These movies are for everyone, not just grown, male nerd childs! I know a ton of grown female nerd childs that love these movies as well!

So why did Maron agree to star in a film like Joker? Well, he explained in a previous interview that it gave him the opportunity to work with Joaquin Phoenix and Robert DeNiro. Also this Joker movie is very different from the kind of films that Marvel is making.

What do you think about Maron’s comments on Marvel films?

Universal Developing Anthology Series Based on Non-Fiction Book BAD GIRLS THROUGHOUT HISTORY

Anne Shen’s book, Bad Girls Throughout History: 100 Remarkable Women Who Changed the World, is set to make a leap to TV in the form of an anthology series from Universal. Liz Hannah (The Post, Mindhunter) is adapting the nonfiction stories into the series, with different women working on each part. Ry Russo-Young (The Sun Is Also a Star) is set to direct. Each episode will focus on a different woman throughout history, and tell an important story.

THR reported the following statements on the project from Hanna and Russo-Young:

“Ann Shen’s book is all that needs to be said about the ambitions of this show. To depict women throughout history as they are: complex, funny, dark and everywhere in between. As a longtime admirer of Ry’s work, I’m ecstatic that Bad Girls will be the beneficiary of her unique vision and talent. I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Ann, Ry, Brittany and Graciella, and the entire team at UCP in bringing these women’s stories to audiences everywhere.”

Added Russo-Young, “Bad Girls is an incredible opportunity to focus not on a single character or genre, but a kind of uncompromising personality that inhabits great women throughout history. I’m thrilled to work with Liz Hannah, who so smartly creates iconic characters with the quiet power of her writing.”

This sounds exciting! I am looking forward to this series. Hopefully it will be done in a way that makes the history interesting and inviting. Are you into it?

We have a hilarious NSFW trailer for the dark comedy Jexi, starring Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect, Modern Family) as Phil, a lonely young pop culture internet writer who is obsessed with his phone.

When he gets the latest version and gets it home, he is surprised to find out that the new virtual assistant within the phone, voiced by Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, Neighbors), is a little abrupt, and a lot too personal. At first she seems to be helpful, but then she gets too involved, and it’s like a fatal attraction scenario with a phone.

Here’s the full synopsis:

Phil (Adam Devine) has a major dependency issue – he’s addicted to his phone. He has no friends, he has a job writing pop culture “Top 10” lists, and his love life is non-existent. But his Facebook status is about to change. When he is forced to upgrade his phone, the latest model comes with an unexpected feature…Jexi (Rose Byrne) – an A.I. life coach, virtual assistant and cheerleader. With her help, Phil begins to get a real life. But as he becomes less dependent on his phone, Jexi’s artificial intelligence morphs into a tech nightmare determined to keep Phil all to herself, even if it means ruining his chances of finding success.

The hilarious cast also includes Michael Pena (Ant-Man, End of Watch), Justin Hartley (This is Us), Alexandra Shipp (Love, Simon, X-Men movies), Charlyne Yi (Paper Heart, House), and Wanda Sykes (Bad Moms, The New Adventure of Old Christine).

Here, Earth’s mightiest protectors are assembling from across time and space to forge a Centralized Assembly Mobilized to Prepare, Unite, and Safeguard-a C.A.M.P.U.S. dedicated to empowering the next generation of heroes. By building a site where we can share out technology, skills, and knowledge with out Avengers Campus Recruits, we hope to inspire a new community of people willing to defend the world, no and for the future.

Whether it’s by sharing innovative technologies at the Stark Expo or training the next generation of heroes at the Avengers Campuses, the Global Avengers initiative seeks to inspire new ideas abiout how we can join together to safeguard Earth.

This is a previously released description of what we can expect from Avengers Campus:

The Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and training facilities around the globe to inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become something more. As part of this global initiative, Tony Stark has founded the Worldwide Engineering Brigade — or WEB for short— to develop advancements in super-powered technology, including new enhancements to Spider-Man’s suit as their debut project. By bringing together the world’s brightest young inventors, the WEB is creating new interfaces that will empower all of us to join the ranks of Earth’s Mightiest.

As of right now, we know that there will be a Spider-Man ride, which is kind of sad to think about right now after Disney and Marvel won’t be involved with the movies anymore. There’s also going to be a Ant-Man-themed microbrewery. We’ll learn more about this over the weekend at D23.
