James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD Casts PITCH PERFECT 2 Actor Flula Borg

flula borg.jpg

Remember that video of the German guy who talks about how he doesn’t understand the meaning of the saying “party pooper”? I love that video. That guy is the actor and comedian Flula Borg, who has been in Pitch Perfect 2 and tons of series and animated shows. He is now on board to co-star in the upcoming James Gunn directed film, The Suicide Squad.

We have no information yet on the character Borg will be playing, but Deadline reports that he will be playing the love interest of one of the characters. He will be joining the cast that already includes Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, and new cast members Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, and Daniela Melchior.

This is just another great addition to the movie that is shaping up pretty well. While the last Suicide Squad was not so well-received, I have a lot of faith that Gunn is totally equipped to bring us the movie we’ve been wanting all along.

The Suicide Squad hits theaters August 6, 2021. Are you excited?

Arrow’s Stephen Amell Set to Lead Wrestling Series HEELS for Starz

stephen amell wrestling.jpg

Arrow actor Stephen Amell has signed on to star in a new series, as Arrow is winding down its final season. This new project is called Heels, an hour-long drama about two brothers set in the world of independent professional wrestling. Deadline reports the following synopsis for the series:

Heels is about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals — one of them played by Amell — war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel (Amell). But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.

In the ring, Amell’s Jack Spade is the charismatic villain, or heel, of the Duffy Wrestling Association. In the real world, he’s its hard-working owner, a husband and father trying to make ends meet while fighting to realize his impossible dreams. He has the mind of an artist in the body of a warrior and a Steve Jobs-ian need for perfection — and for control. He says he’ll do whatever it takes to build the DWA into an empire. Will he go so far as to risk his marriage or his relationship with his brother?

The series is being written by Michael Waldron, who is also writing the highly anticipated upcoming Loki series for Disney+, with Mike O’Malley as showrunner. This sounds like a solid series, with great names attached. Plus Amell is passionate about the sport, and knows his way around the ring, as he has forayed into the world of wrestling recently. While we have no other casting news yet, we do know that after news of this series broke, Amell tweeted at his Arrow co-star and wrestling buddy Cody Rhodes and said, “Wanna come and help me make a TV show?”.

Heels will be premiering on Starz. Are you into it?

Tracy Morgan Joins Eddie Murphy’s COMING TO AMERICA 2

Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock alum Tracy Morgan has joined Eddie Murphy in Paramount Pictures’ Coming To America 2. He will also star alongside Arsenio Hall, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Kiki Layne, James Earl Jones, Rick Ross, and Paul Bates.

According to Deadline, “Jones will portray the son’s mother, who had a one-night stand with Akeem. Morgan’s character is Reem, a hustler who is Jones’ brother.” I’m a fan of Morgan ,and it’s great to see that he got cast in this film. He’s definitely going to make a great addition to the cast and deliver some fun comedy.

The original 1988 comedy followed Murphy as Prince Akeem, “a spoiled prince from the fictional African nation of Zamunda, who arrives in Queens, New York, and in undercover fashion gets a job at a McDonald’s knockoff while trying to find a wife.”

The sequel will focus on Akeem, now set to become king, “discovering he has a son he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honoring his father’s dying wish to groom his son as a new crowned prince, Akeem must once again return to America.”

Snipes will play the role of General Izzi, who is the ruler of neighboring African nation, and Layne will play Akeem’s daughter, “burdened with feeling like she is the son her father never had.”

Coming To America 2 is being directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan).

IT Chapter 2: James McAvoy Reveals Story Behind Hall of Mirrors Scene

James McAvoy reveals origin of IT Chapter Two’s Hall of Mirrors scene

In IT Chapter Two‘s most recent trailer we’ve gotten a glimpse of the sequel’s terrifying hall of mirrors sequence, featuring James McAvoy’s Bill Denbrough as he tries to save a little boy from Pennywise. Not a part of the original novel, McAvoy revealed that the fun house scene was never really part of the original script either. Speaking with EW, spoke about why director Andy Muschietti created the new scene for the sequel

“We were missing a vital story beat for Bill where he dealt with his guilt that he caused his brother’s death,” McAvoy said. “I said to Andy [Muschietti], ‘What can we do?’…and literally in 50 minutes, he invented a whole new sequence. It was never in the script, and it isn’t in the book. It’s brilliant.”

The 10 Heroes Who Weren’t Afraid To Take A Beating

heroes who took a beating

The 10 heroes who weren’t afraid to take a beating

Comingsoon.net is taking a look at all the good guys who never feared a beat down. Check out our selections in the gallery below!

With the release of Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw in August of 2019, many critics and fans alike couldn’t stop talking about recently-released contracts for the franchise’s stars that detailed the ways in which they were allowed to be beaten up on-screen. While Vin Diesel and Jason Statham seemed to prefer to tally up their beatings in order to make sure they were never beaten and the fights were we always fair, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson seemingly stated he was okay with losing as long as it was balanced out with a win.

It’s a baffling contractual obligation for the filmmakers, to be sure, but it makes sense within the film’s themes of macho masculinity and over-the-top action. However, in the past, there have been many protagonists who wouldn’t have dreamed of such contracts. In decades past—especially the 1980s, it seems—heroes definitely weren’t afraid to take a beating.
