Enjoy an DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Eberron One-Shot with FLIGHT OF THE MAGPIES

If you need a Dungeons & Dragons campaign starting adventure or a one-shot set in Eberron, check out Flight of the Magpies from Marco Michelutto. Like most adventures, this one starts with the party accepting a simple job. However, as time goes by, the nature of the job changes and things aren’t always what they seem. Flight of the Magpies is designed for a party of level 3 characters and is designed for beginners as veterans alike. As an added bonus, you don’t need any other books since statblocks are included for all the enemies!

In Flight of the Magpies your party is employed by a famous band of sky mercenaries to do a simple job: find out which airship will be transporting a mysterious prisoner. Simple jobs turn into crazy adventures in Eberron though, and this module is no different. Will the party rise (or fly?) to the challenge?

You can purchase Flight of the Magpies from DMs Guild for $4.95.

MAGIC: MANASTRIKE is a Fun New Mobile Game Set in the World of MAGIC: THE GATHERING

magic_manastrike2.jpg

Last week Netmarble released Magic: Manastrike. This is a new Clash Royale-style mobile game but with a Magic: The Gathering twist. I’ve been enjoying this game since before it came out (you can read some first impressions I had) and the launch seems to have fixed some of my worries.

The game allows you to use a deck of seven cards under the control of a Planeswalker. Each Planeswalker is associated with a different color (or two) from Magic and thus the cards they can use are limited by that. There are some universal creatures and spells that can be used in all decks. When in battle, you can summon the creatures and cast the spells from your deck in order to attack your opponent’s towers. Each side has two smaller towers and then a third large tower. If the large tower goes down, the game is over and you win. Pretty simple concept. Also, you can only summon creatures on your half of the board and then they march towards your opponent.

For the most part, this is all par for the course for these games. One of the cool things about Manastrike is that you can summon your Planeswalker to the field as well. Each Planeswalker has unique abilities that can be used to change the tide of battle and you can summon creatures around your Planeswalker when they’re in enemy territory. This can really help you push the front lines. An added bonus is that your Planeswalker changes the aesthetics of your towers.

Since launch, I haven’t had any connectivity problems which is fantastic. I also feel like you get a few more coins than before launch which should help those that really want to make this a free game. You will still want to be careful of how you spend your coins though. Manastrike still offers the Magic Pass (paid for with Gems which are mostly acquired with real money) which can provide some with an edge as it grants additional rewards and can even unlock new Planeswalkers, but such is the way most free-to-play games are.

Overall, Manastrike is a fun mobile game set in the Magic universe. It looks amazing and is definitely worth a try. It is free after all. You can download Manastrike now for Android and iOS.

EA unveils first look at Apex Legends Season 4

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment surprised fans today with the revelation that the fourth season of hit battle royale shooter Apex Legends, entitled Assimilation, is set to drop tomorrow, with a gameplay trailer showing off all of the new features. The trailer can be viewed in the player below!

Assimilation will include a Battle Pass that will allow players to take on both daily and weekly challenges to earn unique rewards with a robotic twist. The updated World’s Edge map, where Hammond Robotics resides, is being ravaged by chaos as the company is harvesting resources in the area that is tearing up the arena. Players can take aim at opponents with the new Sentinel, a bolt-action sniper rifle that shuts down enemies before they have a chance to spot their attacker.

The new season also includes Revenant, the greatest hitman the Mercenary Syndicate ever had, but after his programming failed, he realized that Hammond Robotics turned him into a walking nightmare of steel and flesh. The return of the company to the Outlands has driven his desire for revenge and he will kill all in his way until he sees everyone dead.

CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA PART 3 Review: To Hell and Back Again

Screenshot+%2828%29.jpg

The revitalization and new perspective of Sabrina is a pretty amazing feat. The first part was great and the second was good, both with strong points, but not without their flaws. The third part was interesting, but I think the risks ended up outweighing the rewards in a number of ways. This will be a spoiler free review, but leave comments below to talk more about the story and if you (the readers) would like more spoiler/in-depth conversations about this show and others.

Sabrina’s story follows her latest endeavors after she and her friends captured Lucifer inside the body of Nick. The story follows the many complications and moving pieces of Hell having a new leader, Lilith. I am happy to see seriously insane and off the wall plot points fill Part 3. Between various competitions, courts in Hell, new powerful enemies and different gods, Sabrina really does tackle a number of crazy things a relatively short time. However, even though there are all these moving parts along with solid emotional and dramatic points for the human world of Sabrina and her friends, things fall apart a number of times. Far too many times does the show think it is very smart and deep and then ends up falling short of a real meaning or complete story.

The production and budget have gotten a small upgrade, but sometimes the money seemed to be spent in odd places and sequences. The special effects, make-up, CGI, cinematography, and score were a little better than the last two parts. My major problem with Part 3 was the musical numbers. Sorry about the spoiler, but there are a number of musical numbers. I am not opposed to them in dramatic shows, but far too often and too cheesy did these moments pop up and kills the more grim and horrific mood. The audio is way too obviously just layered on top of the video and it really takes a person out of the experience. They aren’t terrible on their own, they are just oddly placed.

As I mentioned before, there are a number of storylines that interconnect and run into each other, but they far too often seem short-lived or shallow while pretending to be profound and emotionally driven. Along with all these plots, way too many times did the “good guys” have plans to solve a problem and then it was ruined at the last second, basically Diablos-Ex Machina at every turn to drag out problems, drama, and story.

And lastly, the final episode. It was disappointingly uncreative, feeling like the ending of LOST; so many questions, one easy answer. I wouldn’t say the last episode cheapened the entire show like it did LOST, but I think the show should have cut half of the plots in exchange for a better conclusion.

Overall, Part 3 of the Chilling Adventures of Sabina is good, possibly better than season two in a number of ways. But the outlandish and overwhelming amount of moving parts and oddly weird scene choices stopped the season from being a powerful chapter of Sabrina’s life.

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy confirms Indiana Jones 5 is not a reboot

Hollywood producer Kathleen Kennedy received the BAFTA Fellowship Award, the ceremony’s version of a lifetime achievement award, during the 73rd British Academy Film Awards yesterday in London. During an interview with BBC, Kennedy, who co-founded Amblin Entertainment with Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall and has been the president of Lucasfilm since 2012, spoke about the current status of the upcoming Indiana Jones project, confirming that Indiana Jones 5 will be a continuation of the story.

“We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be and then we’ll be ready to go,” Kathleen said of the Indiana Jones film. “Harrison Ford will be involved… It’s not a reboot. It’s a continuation.” Kennedy added that Ford “can’t wait” to get started on the movie.

Kennedy was also asked about whether fans can expect to see a woman directing a Star Wars film in the future. The producer said, “Oh, absolutely. Without question.”

“We’ve already got ’em. We’re doing Mandalorian, we’ve got two or three fantastic women working with Star Wars and we just brought in Deborah Chow who’s doing the Obi-Wan series. We’re cultivating a lot of great talent,” said Kennedy.

Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones was introduced in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark – one of AFI’s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time – and later thrilled audiences in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The four films have brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office.
