Marvel’s MOON KNIGHT Series Has Added THE ORIGINALS and THE WITCHER Writer Beau DeMayo to Its Crew

Marvel’s Moon Knight series is slowly but surely coming together. We are still pretty far out from seeing it on our TVs, but any new info we get about the series and who they hire means we are getting closer. This week, Beau DeMayo, the writer known for The Originals and The Witcher, which he also produces, added Moon Knight to his resume. He announced the news on his Twitter description, saying, “Writer on Marvel’s MOON KNIGHT and Netflix’s THE WITCHER. Comics. History. Video Games. Fitness.”

The head of the writing team for Moon Knight, Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy), previously said of the writing team and story:

“I was seven when I bought my first Marvel comic, and my life was changed on the spot. It’s no exaggeration to say that joining the MCU is the single greatest honor of my career. I’m thrilled and terrified and deliriously happy. And while I won’t be able tell you anything in regards to story or casting, I *can* tell that you we’ve assembled a room full of brilliant writers who truly love this character, and we’re all hard at work crafting something special for you. So stick around and stay tuned. Moon Knight is on the way, and it’s going to be one hell of a ride”

That certainly sounds promising and exciting! Here’s a description of the character Moon Knight:

Moon Knight centers on a character named Marc Spector, an ex-Marine turned mercenary doing work for the CIA. While in Egypt, he’s betrayed by an ally and left for dead. He survives by making contact with a forgotten God named Khonshu the Egyptian Lunar-God of Vengeance and Justice. He is resurrected by Khonshun to serve as his “avatar” as he battles the criminal underworld.

One of the most interesting aspects of the character, though, is that he suffers from a mental illness in which he has multiple personalities. Those personalities include a cabbie named Jake Lockley and a millionaire playboy named Steven Grant. He ends up using these personalities as disguises, and they come to take on lives of their own.

It’s awesome that these writers are assembling now and getting the story and script hammered out. It’s probably a long wait before we get to see the finished product, as we don’t have a date yet for the series, but it sounds like it will be an exciting and solid show to watch with a very cool new superhero.

The Directors of BAD BOYS FROM LIFE Are Taking a Meeting With Marvel Studios

If you enjoyed how Bad Boys For Life turned out, you might be happy to learn that directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are going to be taking a meeting with Marvel Studios.

During a recent interview with HLN, Adil revealed that Marvel reached out to them, saying, “Marvel wants to meet us, not really for something concrete, a film or series.” That’s as vague as vague can get, but the studio clearly would like to work with them at some point on something. The big question is… what could that be!?

Marvel has numerous projects that they are developing that they could jump on board to direct, so it could be anything. It could be for a project already announced or something that has yet to be announced.

While I enjoyed Bad Boys For Life, they really didn’t do anything different or special with it. But, they are young new directors that showed some solid talent and Marvel can get them for cheap while they are still early in their directing careers.

Marvel Cancels Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler Animated Series At Hulu

Marvel Cancels Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler Animated Series

Nearly a year ago, Marvel TV and Hulu announced plans for four animated series including M.O.D.O.K., Hit Monkey, Howard the Duck, and the unlikely pairing of Tigra & Dazzler. There was even going to be a team up special called The Offenders, with the stars of all four shows. However, plans have changed and only two of the series will be going forward.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has pulled the plug on Howard the Duck and the Tigra & Dazzler animated series. The report also said that this decision was made by Marvel, not Hulu. Both Hit Monkey and M.O.D.O.K. are still in production. Regardless, this does make The Offenders less likely to happen.

There were signs of trouble on the Tigra & Dazzler series late last year when Marvel placed the production on hold. After creative differences with the writing staff, Marvel released the entire staff and planned to restart development for the show. At the time, Marvel was reportedly looking for a new showrunner to take over the series.

Fan favorite writer and director Kevin Smith was one of the primary creators of the Howard the Duck series Via Newsarama, Smith shared his reaction to the news.

“I got a text from [fellow executive producer] Dave Willis in the morning saying, ‘We got Tigra and Dazzler’d,’” related Smith. “I called him and asked ‘Is that what I think that means?’ And Dave said he had just got the word that there will be no Howard the Duck show. The only explanation was ‘We have no plans for this character at this time.’”
