Grab a Tissue and Watch This Beautiful Animated Disney Holiday Short Film

Disney recently released an animated holiday short film that is part of a marketing campaign called, From Our Family To Yours, and the ad is described as a “Disney festive story” that was made because “you never forget your favorite traditions.”

The short tells the heart-warming storyline is inspired by “the themes of traditions, family togetherness and nostalgia, and introduces two new characters – a grandmother, Lola, and her granddaughter – alongside familiar friend Mickey Mouse who features as a much-loved toy, gifted to Lola as a young child by her father in 1940. With each passing year, Mickey comes to symbolize Lola’s childhood and a present-day connection to her granddaughter, ultimately inspiring a festive surprise on Christmas morning.”

You’re gonna need a tissue for this one because it hits all the emotions. The ad marks the 40-year partnership with the children’s charity, Make-A-Wish, and will run across TV and Digital, plus Disney’s own channels.

Disney fans will also be able to purchase the limited-edition vintage Mickey Mouse soft toy featured in the ad from The Disney Store and ShopDisney.co.uk, benefiting Make-A-Wish organizations.

The short also features a song by UK artist and Ivor Novello Rising Star nominee, Griff (19), who performs Love Is A Compass written by songwriting/production team, Parkwild. “The charity track will also be available for sale and download from 9 November. For every download before 31 December 2020, 100% of the proceeds from the retail price will be donated to Make-A-Wish.”

Disney is also encouraging fans to head to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to share their own past and present festive memories using #LoveFromDisney. For each special memory shared, Disney will donate $1USD to Make-A-Wish (up to $100,000).

I hope you enjoy the short.

ALONE AGAINST THE TIDE is a New Solo Adventure for CALL OF CTHULHU

The Holidays are kicking off this week with Thanksgiving. Well, if you are needing some alone time or maybe you’re staying home this year, Chaosium has released a new solo adventure for Call of Cthulhu called Alone Against the Tide from Nicholas Johnson. This is an adventure designed to be played by 1 person. You don’t need all your friends or any of that. Just grab the adventure, your Keeper Rulebook or Starter Set, some dice and pencils, and you’re set. This sounds great! Chaosium also says that these solo adventures are great for introducing the game to a friend or partner, “read the story aloud, make choices, roll dice, and explore the story together!”

What has Professor Harris’ research got to do with the strange green fog enveloping the town? Who are the menacing, dark-suited men that arrived on the ferry with your investigator? And, why is a Buddhist monk visiting Esbury, a town more used to entertaining New England’s wealthy elite?

Take on the role of an investigator traveling to a remote lakeside town where strange things are happening. Decide your path through the story, and the fate of the citizens of Esbury!

You can purchase the PDF of Alone Against the Tide now from Chaosium for $6.99 and when the physical game launches in March, you’ll get the price of the PDF off! That’s a great deal!

Trailer for HBO Max’s Documentary Series HEAVEN’S GATE: THE CULT OF CULTS

I remember watching the news in the 90s when I was growing up that covered the Heaven’s Gate cult mass suicide. It was both fascinating and scary. I also remember seeing those videos of the Haven’s Gate leader, Marshall Applewhite, and thinking that he was completely nuts. It was those crazy eyes of his! There was so much about this cult that creeped me out.

There’s a new documentary series coming to HBO Max that is doing a deep dive into the UFO cult and exploring it in ways that have never been explored before.

The docuseries is titled Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults and it offers a “thorough examination of the infamous UFO cult through the eyes of its former members and loved ones. What started in 1975 with the disappearance of 20 people from a small town in Oregon ended in 1997 with the largest suicide on US soil and changed the face of modern new age religion forever.”

The four-part docuseries uses never-before-seen footage and first-person accounts to explore the infamous UFO cult that shocked the nation with its out-of-this-world beliefs. Oh, and in case you didn’t know, the cult’s original website is still live.

The doc was directed and executive produced by Clay Tweel (Gleason) whose projects take viewers on a quest to discover the “why” behind the seemingly unbelievable. “With a genuine compassion, Clay unpacks these sensitive stories and brings viewers into a previously inaccessible world.”

Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults will be released on HBO Max on December 3rd, 2020.
