Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramirez Join Jessica Chastain in Spy Thriller 355

Sebastian Stan (Destroyer, Avengers: Endgame) and Edgar Ramirez (Gold, American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace) have joined the already impressive cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o, and Fan Bingbing in the upcoming spy thriller 355. Marion Cotillard was previously attached to the project, but is reportedly no longer involved.

Variety reports the movie is about:

“a globe-trotting adventure that flips the espionage genre upside-down. Chastain, Nyong’o, Cruz and Fan play spies from international agencies around the world. These women must bond together, overcoming their suspicions and conflicts, to use all their considerable talents and training to stop an event from occurring that could thrust our teetering world into total chaos. Along the way, these strangers and enemies become comrades and friends, and a new faction is formed – code-named “355” (a name they adopt from the first female spy in the American Revolution).”

So the men in this film will probably end up being villains or love interests I’d assume. It will be fun to see how they work into the story. Principal photography is set to begin in Paris on July 8, and will also shoot in London and Morocco. This is a fantastic cast, and it sounds like it will be an exciting and fun movie to watch!

Does this sound like a film you’ll be pumped up for?

Clowns and Tornadoes are Somehow Connected in This Trailer for CLOWNADO

I love Sharknado and Sharknado 2. After that it went downhill fast. However, I got really excited when I first heard about Clownado. This sounded like the perfect parody of Sharknado just from the title. Unfortunately, it looks like the name is the only thing resembling the shark infested franchise as the description and trailer lead me to believe it’s less about the Clownado and more about the clowns.

Cursed demonic circus clowns set out on a vengeful massacre using tornadoes. A stripper, Elvis impersonator, truck driver, teen runaway, and a dude get caught in the supernatural battle between femme fatal and the boss clown from hell.

Todd Sheets wrote and directed the film which stars Eileen Dietz, Rachel Lagen, John O’Hara, Linnea Quigley, and Joel D. Wynkoop. No specific release date has been given, but Clownado is expected to touch down this summer.

Phoenix Fan Fusion Special Guest Highlights

Phoenix-Fan-Fusion-2019.jpg

We are only one week away from Phoenix Fan Fusion, formerly known as Phoenix Comic Con, and the guests and schedules are really coming together to make it an awesome year! There are pages and pages of special guests listed on the Phoenix Fan Fusion website, but I have highlighted my favorite guests below that I’ll be hoping to see!

First off, we’ve got Paul Reubens, that’s right, Pee-wee Herman himself will be in attendance. The guy who has played Pee-wee for over the last 30 years, as well as voiced major characters like Max in Flight of the Navigator, and RX-24 in the old Star Tours ride at Disney parks has been in so many things we never even knew besides the things we love him for. I’m partial to Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, but he was also in all the other Pee-wee projects, as well as Batman Returns, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Matilda, Mystery Men, and so many animated series, like DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, it’s insane! Reubens will be available at the fest on Saturday and Sunday, and photo ops will range from $60-$80.

Next up, is THE Jeff Goldblum. The charismatic and incredibly talented actor, who’s also still pretty hot if I may say so myself, is known for his distinct style and many iconic roles in movies like Jurassic Park, Independence Day, The Fly, Thor: Ragnarok, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Will & Grace, and The Big Chill, among others. We share a birthday, and I called him hot. Do you think that’ll get me in for a free selfie? Goldblum will be in attendance Saturday only and will be available for autographs for $110 and photos for $120.

Also at the fest is your favorite hobbit and mine: Elijah Wood. Wood has been a favorite actor of mine since we were both kids. I loved the movies Paradise and Radio Flyer and Forever Young when they came out, and pretty much everything he was in since then. Of course the trilogy The Lord of the Rings was a giant hit and an incredible series. And the weird indie films that came after were fantastic, including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sin City, and Bobby. I loved him most recently in the TV series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, which was so dang good, and ended way too soon. Wood will be at the fest Friday and Saturday, and will be available for a photo or autograph for $80, or a combo of the two for $140

Like the two before him, this next actor is also hot. Sorry, Paul Reubens. Matthew Lewis, of Harry Potter film fame. Our very own Neville Longbottom, who began the series an odd-looking little boy, and grew up to be oh so much more. He was recently seen as an oblivious boyfriend in Me Before You and has been keeping busy on other projects, but will always be Neville Longbottom in our hearts. Lewis will be in attendance on Saturday and Sunday, and will be available for photo ops for $50-$70

Billy Dee Williams needs no introduction it seems, but he is, of course, the world’s first Lando Calrissian in the original Star Wars films, and will be returning to play the role in the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He’s been in other great movies over the years, like Batman and Fanboys, but will always be Lando Calrissian in our hearts. Williams will be at the fest Friday though Sunday and will be available for an $80 photo, or a paid autograph on site.

Last on my list, but absolutely not least, is the great Chris Sarandon. This is the one my kids are really losing their minds over. We recently showed them The Princess Bride, and they are obsessed. When we told them he would be at the convention, they were a mix of excited, shocked, and appalled. I have explained to them that Mr. Sarandon played Prince Humperdinck, but he himself is a good person and should not be held accountable for Humperdinck’s actions, and they are still sketchy about the whole thing. They may boo at him and call him names. We will cross that bridge when we come to it. He is also, of course, the wonderful voice of Jack Skellington in the beloved The Nightmare Before Christmas, but he will always be Prince Humperdinck in our hearts… Sarandon will be at the Fan Fest Friday through Sunday, and will be available for a selfie or autograph for $50, a photo op for $60, or a combo for $80.

Many more authors, artists, cosplayers, comedians, Power Rangers, drag Queens, and others will be at Phoenix Fan Fest from May 23rd-May 26th. Tickets are still available online. Look for the GeekTyrant crew, and come geek out with us.

Let us know if you’ll be attending, who you’ll be dressed up as, and who you’re most excited to see!

Jemaine Clement Has Been Cast in James Cameron’s AVATAR Sequels

jemaine-clement-has-been-cast-in-james-camerons-avatar-sequels-social.jpg

Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows, Flight of the Conchords) has joined the cast of James Cameron’s Avatar sequels. He will be taking on the role of a marine biologist named Dr. Ian Garvin. Cameron had this to say about the casting in a statement:

“I’ve loved Jemaine’s work for years and I’m really pumped that he’s joining our cast as Ian Garvin, one of my favorite characters.”

I’m a fan of Clement and his work. He’s a very funny guy and I imagine he will be bringing some comic relief to these Avatar movies.

The first of the Avatar sequels is set to be released on December 17th, 2021, which is a year after what Fox had planned before it was bought by Disney. The other three Avatar sequels will be released in December of 2023, December of 2025, and finally December of 2027, when we are eight freakin’ years older than we are now.

Clement joins the previously cast Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver, who are returning to reprise their roles. They will also be joined by Michelle Yeoh, Kate Winslet and Game of Thrones actress Oona Chaplin.

While we don’t have any plot details on the sequels, we know that Avatar 2 is set several years after Avatar. “At the center of each of our four movies will be the Sully family. Each sequel will play as a standalone movie. Each movie’s story will come to its own conclusion… However, when looked at as a whole, the journey across all four movies will create an even larger connected epic saga for audiences around the world.”

What do you think about Jemaine Clement joining the Avatar franchise?

James Gunn Breaks Silence on Disney Firing Him, Rehiring Him, and The Character Arc He’s Most Excited About in GUARDIANS VOL. 3

James Gunn recently sat down with Deadline for an interview in which he completely opened up about the crazy drama that unfolded around him when he was fired as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He also talks about being rehired to direct it, the things he learned from all of the madness, and the story arc for a character of Guardians Vol. 3 that he’s most excited about telling.

When talking about the distasteful posts of his that resurfaced and how he felt about Disney firing him, Gunn said:

“I don’t blame anyone. I feel and have felt bad for a while about some of the ways I spoke publicly; some of the jokes I made, some of the targets of my humor, just the unintentional consequences of not being more compassionate in what I’m putting out there. I know that people have been hurt by things that I’ve said, and that’s still my responsibility, that I wasn’t as compassionate as I should be in what I say. I feel bad for that and take full responsibility. Disney totally had the right to fire me. This wasn’t a free speech issue. I said something they didn’t like and they completely had the right to fire me. There was never any argument of that.

“That first day… I’m going to say it was the most intense of my entire life. There have been other difficult days in my life, from the time I got sober when I was younger, to the death of friends who committed suicide. But this was incredibly intense. It happened, and suddenly it seemed like everything was gone. I just knew, in a moment that happened incredibly quickly, I had been fired. It felt as if my career was over.”

It wasn’t over, though. Warner Bros. snatched him up pretty fast to write and direct DC’s The Suicide Squad. It was while he was talking to WB about that when Disney came to him to hire him back. When asked about how he felt when Alan Horn invited him back to direct Guardians Vol. 3, he said:

“I was about to sit down and talk about Suicide Squad with DC and I was excited about that. Alan asked me to come talk to him. I really believe he is a good man and I think he hired me back because he thought that was the right thing to do. I’ve known him a little, going back to the Scooby-Doo movies. I’ve always liked and admired him. I was touched by his compassion.

“You hear in Hollywood that everybody’s cutthroat. That’s true of a section of this industry, but there’s also a lot of really good people. I’m always attracted to finding that goodness in places we don’t expect, often in the characters in my movies. I got a little bit teary-eyed in his office. And then I had to go tell Kevin Feige I had just decided to do Suicide Squad, so that made me very nervous.”

He went on to say that the initial conversations with Alan weren’t, “Let’s figure out if I should come back. It was, Let’s talk about this. It was like the break-up of my marriage. I got divorced, and then had those conversations with my ex-wife: Let’s get along as well as we possibly can and be kind to each other because we’re both a large part of each other’s lives.”

He obviously had the intention of continuing to have a good relationship with Disney, even after all of the crazy drama that went down. He went on to say, “I didn’t want to look back and feel bitter, upset or angry. Of course all sorts of emotions are attached to it. But I just wanted to be comfortable saying goodbye and splitting up, and that’s where my head was at, even in the very early meeting we had, a week or two weeks after it all happened.”

I have to say that I really do like how Gunn handled this whole thing and his attempt to try and keep things on a positive note. That obviously wasn’t something that was easy to do in a situation like that.

Gunn was then asked what characters or themes he was most exited about focusing on in Guardians Vol. 3 and he explained that it was Rocket’s story, because he is that character:

“When you asked me what was saddest for me when I thought it was gone—and anybody at Marvel can tell you—it’s this very strange and attached relationship to Rocket. Rocket is me, he really is, even if that sounds narcissistic. Groot is like my dog. I love Groot in a completely different way. I relate to Rocket and I feel compassion for Rocket, but I also feel like his story has not been completed. He has an arc that started in the first movie, continued into the second and goes through Infinity War and Endgame, and then I was set to really finish that arc in Guardians 3. That was a big loss to me—not being able to finish that story—though I was comforted by the fact that they were still planning to use my script.”

Rocket is definitely one of my favorite characters in the MCU, so it’s good to know that the character will get some special attention in this next chapter of Guardians.

TWILIGHT’s Jackson Rathbone Is a Real Psycho in Terrible Trailer for DO NOT REPLY

jackson rathbone.jpg

Here’s a horrible trailer for a movie starring Jackson Rathbone (The Twilight Series) wherein the dead eyed creep vibe he rocked in Twilight really paid off for this disgusting movie. This torture-porn style pile of crap made me grimace through the entire trailer. I can’t imagine actually watching the whole stupid thing. It will be heading to Cannes this year, which is happening for the next two weeks, and I hope it gets panned.

Deadline reports the following synopsis for the movie:

It explores the dangers of popular phone apps among teens and the frightening pervasiveness of sexual predators in modern society. Arcuri plays Chelsea, a high school introvert, who is abducted through a social media app by a charming and handsome man who calls himself Brad, played by Rathbone. Chelsea is forced to look like other girls Brad holds captive in his boarded-up house. The high-schooler desperately attempts to persuade them to escape before they all become victims of his ritualistic virtual-reality-filmed murders.

Okay, sure, a cautionary tale. But being a woman who is just trying to Stay Sexy and Not Get Murdered, this just scares me, and makes me feel like any psycho that goes to see this will just get ideas and a glorified image of how his torture dungeon should be designed. Watch the trailer for yourself and decide if it looks as terrible as I think it does.

Bruce Campbell Says The EVIL DEAD Saga Will Continue With New Stories

Even though Bruce Campbell announced that he was retiring from the Evil Dead franchise after Starz cancelled Ash Vs. Evil Dead, it doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing more Evil Dead in the future.

During a recent interview with Inquisitr, the actor confirmed that fans are going to see more Evil Dead stories told. When asked about the future of Ash, Campbell said:

“They’re going to see different versions, they’re going to be seeing more Evil Dead, too. We’re not done with the Evil Dead saga, more stories to tell.”

Now, Campbell most likely won’t be starring in any of these upcoming projects, but he’ll certainly be attached as a producer. Also, these new stories will be separate from the Evil Dead video games that Campbell will be providing his voice for.

As for whether or not director Fede Alvarez will return to direct a sequel to his Evil Dead reboot, Campbell said:

“I don’t know, Fede’s a big Hollywood director now. I don’t know if Fede needs this. We’ll have to see.”

I actually liked that reboot and would have loved to see the story of the surviving character, played by Jane Levy, continue. But, apparently that’s not in the works at the moment.

Campbell then opened up about Ash Williams and explains why he thinks the character is so loved by the fans:

“Because he is the fans, the fans are him. Ash has no skills, Ash doesn’t come from another planet, he comes from Michigan. He’s the guy you want in the foxhole, but he probably got low SAT scores. So people watching him, I think they root for him because they’re like, ‘Damn, that’s like my neighbor. That’s like if my neighbor decided to save the world from evil.’ Kind of like that. That’s how I look at it and that’s how we played it. That’s why it was worth bringing the guy back 48 years later to try it again… He’s the ultimate anti-hero, anti in that he can’t even get out of bed, you know?”

Well, this is exciting. I can’t wait to see what Sam Raimi and Campbell are planning for the future of the franchise. I guess you should stay tuned for new updates and details on the Evil Dead franchise.

Watch Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry Train To Be Badasses For JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3

Lionsgate has released a new featurette for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and this one focuses on the hardcore training that Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry had to go through to become ultimate badass fighting machines!

They talk about how hard John Wick training really is, but I would totally want to dive in for some John Wick training! Reeves does 98% of his own stunts in the film, so they’ve got to be great in what they do to be able to pull off that epic level of awesomeness. They say that to learn this stuff, it takes a level of commitment that is not normal.

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

Chad Stahelski directed the film, and it also stars Asia Kate Dillon, who will be playing The Adjudicator of the High Table; Mark Dacascos, who will take on the role of an assassin named Zero; Jason Mantzoukas, who will be playing the Tick Tock Man; and Anjelica Huston, who is playing a mysterious new character named Roma Ruska, someone who was responsible for [Wick’s] upbringing and his protection.

John Wick: Chapter 3 is currently set to hit theaters on May 17, 2019.

RICK AND MORTY Season 4 Is Set to Premiere Later This Year and Here’s a Teaser

I’ve got some exciting news for all of you Rick and Morty fans! The long awaited fourth season will premiere on Adult Swim later this year in November of 2019. This will be just over two years after Season 3 came to an end. I also included a teaser trailer.

Rick and Morty Season 4 is just the beginning of the massive 70 episode order from Adult Swim. That will bring the total number of episodes to 101. We don’t know how many episodes we will see in Season 4, but when previously talking about the series renewal, co-creator Justin Roiland said:

“We‘re super excited that, for the first time ever, we’re locked in, we know what the future is, we have job security. Harmon is in great spirits, we have a great writer’s room. We want the episodes to stay good, but we do also want to try to turn them around a little quicker now that we have this big order, I think it gives us the ability to be faster. We’re not going to do these long breaks, these chasms in between seasons anymore. We’re going to schedule vacation time and just keep the machine going. It’s going to be really cool.”

I do like the fact that from here on out there won’t be a long gap between each season of the show, which follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the multi-verse.

I can’t wait to see what the future insane adventures of Rick and Morty entail!

Redundant Trailer for Netflix’s Renee Zellweger Series WHAT/IF

renee-zellweger-what-if-netflix.jpg

I’ve got a full trailer to share with you today for the Netflix series What/If, starring Renee Zellweger. It’s got an Indecent Proposal vibe, with Zellweger making sure you understand she is ruthless and sexy and not a nice person.

There isn’t a whole lot of explanation as to why she is this way, or what her motivation is, it’s just a bunch of hard, squinty stares and people realizing they probably made bad decisions that are now affecting their lives in a negative way. It’s a deal with the devil situation, and Zellweger is the devil who has some some huge amount of pull in a high stakes world that looks like Hollywood.

Zellweger plays the ultimate game player, Anne Montgomery. “When Anne presents a young, cash-strapped couple with an incredible opportunity, they have to decide what they’re willing to risk for a chance to have it all.”

There’s surely a huge market for this kind of show. Lots of people like over-the-top dramas, so this series has a shot to succeed. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you’ll be tuning in to Netflix on Friday May24th for What/If.
