Jon Favreau Reportedly Returning To Develop THE MANDALORIAN Season 2

2019 is shaping up to be an awesome year for Star Wars fans! We’ve got Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker coming, the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and then the project I’m most excited about… The Mandalorian live action series!

According to Discussing Film, Lucasfilm and Disney are planning on moving forward with a second season of the highly-anticipated show and they are reportedly bringing back showrunner Jon Favreau to develop it!

While the series hasn’t even aired yet, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that The Mandalorian is getting a Season 2. The fans at Star Wars Celebration completely flipped over the footage that was shared at the event and this is bound to be a huge hit with the fans. This series might actually be the thing that unites the Star Wars fans again.

While I haven’t even seen The Mandalorian, I’m a big fan of Favreau and his work, so I’m happy and excited to learn that he’ll be coming back for another season of the series!

The series also stars Pedro Pascal (Narcos) as “a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy.” It also includes Gina Carano (Deadpool), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), and Nick Nolte (Affliction).

The plot of the show is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order and here’s the synopsis:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

It was also previously revealed the story will follow a bounty hunter who is protecting a baby that he was initially sent to kill. You can read some more details regarding that here.

Favreau previously said he developed the series as a “low budget affair”, saying:

“Since I wrote most of [The Mandalorian], I wrote it to fit within our volume, and in trying to keep the scale of it like the first Star Wars film, which was a relatively low-budget affair, even though the effects were spectacular.”

The Mandalorian will be written and executive produced by Favreau, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode and serving as executive producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Additional directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

The Mandalorian will debut on Disney+ on November 12th, 2019.

Two New TV Spots for Disney’s ALADDIN and a New IMAX Poster

Disney has released two new TV spots for director Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin along with a new IMAX poster for the film. The new spots put an emphasize on the importance of self-confidence.

As we get closer to the release of the film, I’ve noticed that more and more fans are a bit more open to the film now and are getting excited to see it. According to early box office estimates, the movie is tracking towards an $80 million-plus debut over Memorial Day weekend, which seems like a decent opening weekend for a Disney movie like this.

Aladdin is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s Aladdin.

Aladdin stars Mena Massoud as the charming scoundrel Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine, the beautiful, determined princess; Will Smith as the Genie; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, the powerful sorcerer; Navid Negahban as the Sultan concerned with his daughter’s future; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Princess Jasmine’s free-spirited best friend and confidante; Billy Magnussen as the handsome and arrogant suitor Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim, Jafar’s right-hand man and captain of the palace guards.

The movie will be released on May 24th, 2019. Are you looking forward to watching Aladdin? What is the main selling point for this film for you? The reason I want to see it is to see what director Ritchie does with it.

Damien Chazelle’s The Eddy lands Amandla Stenberg to star

Damien Chazelle’s upcoming Netflix musical series The Eddy has cast Amandla Stenberg in a starring role. Variety reports that Stenberg will play Julia, the teenage daughter of Elliot Udo, who’ll be played by Andre Holland.

The Eddy is a musical drama set in contemporary Paris that revolves around a failing jazz club, its part-owner, the house band, and the city that surrounds them. As a celebrated jazz pianist from New York living in Paris and the part-owner of a failing jazz club, Elliot is hiding from everyone. That changes when Julia shows up, forcing him to confront his past, accept his weaknesses and learn to become a responsible adult.

Executive produced by Chazelle, who will direct two of the episodes, and written by five-time BAFTA Award-winning and Olivier-winning writer Jack Thorne (National TreasureThis is EnglandWonder), The Eddy is an eight-episode series that will be shot in France and feature dialogue in French, English and Arabic. Emmy-winning producer Alan Poul (Six Feet UnderThe Newsroom), will also executive produce the Endeavour Content series, and original music will be written by six-time Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, Michael Jackson’s Bad).

Stenberg was recently seen as the lead in last year’s The Hate U Give, which was directed by George Tillman, Jr.

New TOY STORY 4 TV Spot Shows the Birth of Forky, and There’s a Series of Character Posters

We’ve got a fun new TV spot here for you to watch for Toy Story 4. This one focuses on the birth of the new character Forky, which Bonnie creates on her first day of school. It’s a magical moment for Bonnie but a terrifying experience for Forky and Woody.

I also include a new series of character posters for the film featuring Buzz (Tim Allen), Woody (Tom Hanks), Bo Peep (Annie Potts), Ducky (Keegan-Michael Key), Bunny (Jordan Peele), Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves), and Forky (Tony Hale).

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.

Toy Story 4 was directed by Josh Cooley (Riley’s First Date) and hits theaters on June 21st, 2019.

Following previous reports on Swamp Thing‘s delayed production, series regulars Virginia Madsen and Henderson Wade took to Instagram to reveal that production has officially wrapped on the first season of DC Universe‘s upcoming live-action series. The series is scheduled to make its debut on May 31.

The ending of the season will be reworked for the new episode count.

Swamp Thing made his comic book debut back in 1971 and has maintained his position as a staple of the DCU since then, including seminal runs written by Alan Moore, Brian K. Vaughan, Mark Millar, and Scott Snyder. The character was previously adapted into a feature film from Wes Craven in 1982, which spawned a sequel seven years later, and a USA Network series that ran for three seasons in the early ’90s. Dick Durock took on the role in both the films and the series. An animated Swamp Thing series also debuted in the early ’90s but only aired five episodes.
