Hip-hop superstars Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty and Sueco the Child have officially released the full music video for their newest teamed-up single titled “Speed Me Up” which will be the official theme song for Paramount Pictures‘s forthcoming live-action adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog. Featuring the four rappers being transformed into 16-bit Sonic characters, you can check out the video in the player below!

The song was produced by renowned hip-hop producer duo Take A Daytrip composed of Denzel Baptiste and David Biral, who have previously worked with Lil Nas X and Big Sean. It was also overseen by Grammy winner Kevin Weaver, who has produced numerous multi-platinum soundtrack projects for films including Furious 7, The Greatest Showman and Margot Robbie’s upcoming Bird of Prey.

The film was originally set to hit theaters this past weekend but after very negative reviews from audiences surrounding the design of the iconic character, Paramount delayed the release to February 14, 2020 with the goal of redesigning Sonic to better fit his look from the video games.

Written by Patrick Casey (Golan the Insatiable), Josh Miller (Golan the Insatiable) and Oren Uziel (The Cloverfield Paradox), the film follows Tom Wachowski, a cop in the rural town of Green Hills, who decides to help Sonic escape from the government looking to capture him. The film is directed by Jeff Fowler and executive produced by Tim Miller (Terminator: Dark Fate).

Ewan McGregor Speaks Out on Obi-Wan Series Production Delay

Ewan McGregor Speaks Out on Obi-Wan Kenobi Series’ Production Delay

Ewan McGregor speaks out on Obi-Wan Kenobi series production delay

Following yesterday’s breaking news about Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series being put on hold, Golden Globe Award-winning actor Ewan McGregor has finally addressed the issue in a recent press event for Birds of Prey, strongly dispelling previous reports about creative differences being the main reason why production has been delayed for the new Star Wars prequel spinoff series. He also confirmed that the series has not been cancelled and has just been pushed to a later production start date.

We just pushed the shoot to the beginning of next year. The scripts are really good. I saw 90% of the writing and I really liked it,” McGregor said. (via Comic Book Movie) “All this bulls— about creative differences and all that stuff is, none of it true.”

McGregor further clarified that the production delay was due to the Lucasfilm executives ultimately deciding to make additional polishes to the upcoming series. “We just pushed the dates, they want — [the] last episode Episode IX just came out, everyone had more time to read the stuff that had been written, and they felt that they wanted to do more work on it. So they slid the shoot. It’s not nearly as dramatic as it sounds online.”

He also added that the fans shouldn’t worry about the delay because the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is still right on track for the studio’s original scheduled release date. “The show start shooting in January. I think they want to keep the same release date so it’s not really gonna affect the viewer in any way. It just simply gives them more time to write, make the scripts even better.”

The new series will take place eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, where we last saw Obi-Wan delivering the infant Luke Skywalker to his Tatooine homestead. The series will directed by Deborah Chow. Chow, Amini, and McGregor will serve as Executive Producers alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Tracey Seaward (The Queen) and John Swartz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Jason McGatlin, Lucasfilm’s Executive Vice President Production, will serve as co-producer.

McGregor took over the role of Obi-Wan for the Star Wars prequel trilogy two decades ago from the late Alec Guinness. His last live-action appearance was in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. However, McGregor also lent his voice to Rey’s Force vision in The Force Awakens. Additionally, McGregor hasn’t been shy about his desire to reprise his role.

Two years ago, director Stephen Daldry was supposedly lined up to direct a standalone Obi-Wan film. Unfortunately, the dismal box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story put all the spinoff movies on hold.

No other details about the potential Obi-Wan series are currently available. A few Star Wars novels and comics have explored Obi-Wan’s life on Tatooine between Episodes III and IV. Obi-Wan also had a memorable rematch with Darth Maul in Star Wars Rebels. But any story direction for the new show is simply conjecture at this point.

Ewan McGregor Addresses The Recent OBI-WAN KENOBI Series News and “It’s Not As Dramatic As It Might Seem”

ewan-mcgregor-addresses-the-recent-obi-wan-kenobi-series-news-and-its-not-as-dramatic-as-it-might-seem-social.jpg

Yesterday it was reported that Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series was shut down and put on hold to because Kathleen Kennedy didn’t like how the scripts were turning out. So, it was said that they would go back to the drawing board and rework the scripts.

Well, Ewan McGregor was asked about these reports and in a couple of different interviews, he makes it very clear that he’s not worried about anything and that it’s not a big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. As I expected, the media has seemed to overexaggerate the situation. The actor told Variety:

“I think we start shooting early next year as opposed to summer this year. I think the scripts are great. They’re in really good shape. They want them to be better. I think we keep our same airdate. All good. I didn’t realize until we got here tonight and everybody is going, ‘Oh, my god!’ But it’s not really as dramatic as it might seem.”

McGregor went on to talk about it a bit more in an interview with CB, saying:

“It just slipped to next year, that’s all. The scripts are really good. I think that so now that Episode IX came out and everyone at Lucasfilm’s got more time to look to spend on the writing, they felt like they wanted more time to write the episodes. I read about 80-90 percent of what they’ve written so far and it’s really, really good. And instead of shooting this August, they just want to start shooting in January, that’s all. It’s nothing more dramatic than that. It often happens in projects, they just wanted to push it to next year.”

The actor went on to say that the change in filming shouldn’t affect the eventual release date, which, as you know, was not previously announced by Lucasfilm or Disney+:

“It will have the same release date, I don’t think it will affect the release date. They’re still shooting towards having the [series] released when it was going to originally release.”

When asked about reports that the series has been shortened from six to four episodes, McGregor denied them saying, “I haven’t heard that.”

So, there you have it! McGregor knows exactly what’s going on behind the scenes, and the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. The guy loves the scripts that have been written and the studio is just looking to strengthen and build on what they currently have.

Colin Farrell Calls Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN Script “Really Beautiful, Dark, and Moving”

colin-farrell-calls-matt-reeves-the-batman-script-really-beautiful-dark-and-moving-social.jpg

Colin Farrell recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about Guy Ritchie‘s The Gentlemen. But, as you might imagine, the conversation turned to his upcoming role of The Penguin in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. While he was a bit hesitant to talk about his character in any detail, he did share his thoughts on the script, saying that it’s beautiful, dark, and moving:

“I’m in the process of talking to Matt Reeves, who’s the director, who wrote the script, and wrote a really beautiful, dark, moving script, really gorgeous. It’s all very hush hush, but it’s a really beautiful script that he wrote and he has a real love for it, Matt. So, we’re in the process of finishing designing the aesthetic of the character.”

It’ll be interesting to see how this version of Penguin turns out. I imagine he’ll end up being quite a sinister and dark individual.

The movie also stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz will play Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano will play the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis is set to play Alfred, and John Turturro has been cast in the role of Carmine Falcone. Peter Sarsgaard also has a mysterious role in the film.

There is so much we don’t know about the movie, but we do know that The Batman will be a noir-style film that will lean into Batman in his detective mode. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25th, 2021.

Trailer For Anne Hathaway’s Iran-Contra Scandal Thriller THE LAST THING HE WANTED

We’ve got a trailer here for you to watch for Anne Hathaway’s upcoming Netflix drama thriller, The Last Thing He Wanted. The film comes from director Dee Rees (Mudbound, Pariah) and in the film, Hathaway plays journalist Elena McMahon, who ends up caught in the middle of the Iran-Contra scandal. The movie also stars Willem Dafoe as Elena’s dad, and Ben Affleck.

The movie is based on Joan Dideon’s novel of the same name and here’s the synopsis for the film that was shared, which offers more story details:

Journalist and single mother Elena McMahon (Anne Hathaway) has rigorously investigated Contra activity in Central America for years. Frustrated when her coverage is censored, relief comes in an unexpected package: her acerbic father (Willem Dafoe) falls ill and leaves her a series of unfinished and unsavory arms deals in that very region. Now a pawn in a risky and unfamiliar game, surrounded by live ammunition in more ways than one, and alongside a U.S. state official (Ben Affleck) with whom she has a checkered past, Elena needs to parse her own story to survive. With her disenchanting life awaiting her back home, she is forced to consider what she really wants.

The movie is set to premiere at Sundance, which started this week, and they offered the following introduction to the film: “Seasoned performances by Hathaway, Affleck, and Dafoe match the sobriety of the subject matter and convey the questionable intentions, inscrutable connections, and bitter fates of these complex characters.”

If you enjoy political thrillers, this certainly looks like it’s going to tell a good and exhilarating story, and I plan on checking it out while I’m at Sundance.

The Last Thing He Wanted arrives on Netflix on February 21, 2020.

Warwick Davis Confirms Wicket Had a Child in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER and He Has an Idea for a Disney+ Series

warwick davis solo.jpg

Actor Warwick Davis (Willow, the Harry Potter films) has deep roots within the history of the Star Wars universe. He first played the Ewok, Wicket, in Return of the Jedi when he was eleven years old. Then he played the character Weazel, a “low-level thief working for the Hutt Clan,” in The Phantom Menace, who returned to appear in Solo: A Star Wars Story “as a member of Enfys Nest’s marauders, the pirate gang that helped found the Rebellion.”

Davis recently sat down for a phone interview with Inverse, where he confirmed a cool detail about his return to The Rise of Skywalker as Wicket, as well as an idea he would love to see developed for Disney+.

Some fans had issues with parts of the story of The Rise of Skywalker, but I think most fans would also agree that it was fun to see so many beloved characters in one place as they fought in that epic final battle and celebrated a long-awaited victory. Davis himself, as a fan of the films, loved watching for that reason, and talked about what it meant to him to bring back the character of Wicket:

It’s thanks to J.J. Abrams and his vision and his enthusiasm and the fact that he is a fan of Star Wars that he did that. There were quite a few little cameos like that in Rise of Skywalker, which I greatly enjoyed seeing as a fan. But yeah, I never thought I’d be bringing that character back, and I also never thought it’d be quite so involved. I was able to consult in recreating that character and that costume because there’s very little reference of how the costume was made.

He went on to confirm what Wicket has been up to since we last saw him:

I mean, Wicket’s had a child — that other Ewok you see in Rise of Skywalker is his son, and indeed my son in reality who is inside that costume. So he didn’t look like he suffered too much. He’s got a family and stuff. But yeah, I gave it a bit of thought, but I didn’t need to dig too deep, because I didn’t need to be too informed for what we ended up doing in the movie.

That’s so cool that his actual son got to play the part in the film! Even though his character was only given a cameo, it’s awesome that he got to reprise the role and have that experience. When asked if he believed there could be more stories to tell about the Ewoks, he said, “never say never in the Star Wars universe,” referencing all the new content on Disney+. But he actually has another project in mind that he’d love to see more of in a spin-off project of some kind:

Another character I’d love to bring back would be more Weazel. I think he deserves a little bit more. The experience I had on Solo was so fantastic anyway, but I think there’s sort of an intrigue to that character. I’d like to know what he got up to between Phantom Menace and Solo. Why did he take the path he took? Will it be something a novelist will come up with or will it be something we see in TV or a movie?

That would be cool to see. Warwick also talked about the highly buzzed about Disney+ Willow sequel series, saying that it’s not quite as official as it’s been reported. He said all the right people are involved, but it’s not off the ground yet.

He also mentioned an interest in being involved with a superhero film in the future, as that’s not a genre he has explored, which I also think would be awesome. I’m a huge fan of his, and I can’t wait to see what he does next (crossing fingers it’s the Willow sequel series!).

What would you like to see next from the actor?

Cool Concept Art Created For Colin Trevorrow’s Vision of STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

cool-concept-art-created-for-colin-trevorrows-vision-of-star-wars-episode-ix-social.jpg

There was some concept art that leaked out recently that was said to be for Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars: Episode IX, which was going to be titled Duel of Fates. The director confirmed that concept art was not from his film, but was from J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. But, this new series of concept art that I’ve included in this post is from Trevorrow’s film and it gives us an idea of what his vision for the final chapter in the Star Wars saga would have been.

The art reveals that Rey has a double-bladed lightsaber, we get a glimpse at Kylo Ren wearing a new mask, there’s a scene that shows Ben Solo battling Darth Vader, and we get a look at a monstrous Sith teacher named Tor Valum. There’s a lot more cool stuff as well.

I’ve included some notes that came from each piece of the art thanks to CBM. I’ve gotta say, I would have loved to see these visuals brought to life on the big screen. The more I learn about Trevorrow’s Episode IX, the more I would have much rather seen his version. There’s an epic moment where Luke Skywalker’s Force Ghost appears in front of Kylo Ren and grabs his red Lightsaber blade! The audience and fans would have lost their shit over that!

Check out the concept below and tell us what you think!

Luke’s Force Ghost would have continued to train Rey in this version of the movie, and they can be seen here on a planet called Koralev.

Using her newfound double-bladed lightsaber, Rey has taken the fight to the First Order’s Stormtroopers aboard a Star Destroyer.

It appears as if Captain Phasma was going to be included in Colin Trevorrow’s Episode IX before Rian Johnson killed her off in The Last Jedi, and she’s shown here executing Resistance traitor Bisc Kova  on Coruscant as the masses look on.

cool-concept-art-created-for-colin-trevorrows-vision-of-star-wars-episode-ix13.jpg

The Millennium Falcon flies to a planet called Bonadan where Poe Dameron would have reportedly led the crew to his grandfather.

We’ve been hearing a lot about the Knife-9, a ship which would have been piloted by the Knights of Ren. Well, here it is in all its glory as it chases down Poe and Rey as they pilot a Razer Sail through Bonadan waters.

Kylo Ren was going to seek out an ancient Sith master who taught Emperor Palpatine much of what he knew, and his name was Tor Valum.

Kylo Ren battles Darth Vader in this scene which was meant to be similar to the cave sequence in The Empire Stikes Back. After being scarred earlier in the movie, Ren was going to create a new mask using Mandalorian armour which we catch a glimpse of here.

The once proud city of Coruscant is now the stronghold for The First Order, and it makes perfect sense that they would set up shop there based on how Emperor Palpatine once used the capital as his home.

The driving force of Trevorrow’s movie would have been the Resistance attempting to send out a beacon to the rest of the Galaxy, with a message from Leia rallying them to their cause to help them stop the First Order. Here, we see them trying to send it.

R2-D2 and C-3PO roam the streets of Coruscant and it’s clear that the city has fallen into ruin thanks to the First Order.

cool-concept-art-created-for-colin-trevorrows-vision-of-star-wars-episode-ix6.jpg

Finn was once going to lead a rebellion on Coruscant, giving him a vastly more satisfying story arc as a result. Here, we get to see him take the fight to the First Order, ending them once and for all with the help of those living in the city.

After Rey tracks Kylo Ren to Mortis, she comes face to face with a massive creature and no doubt makes good use of her new double bladed lightsaber (her original staff has been combined with the remains of Luke Skywalker’s original blade).

cool-concept-art-created-for-colin-trevorrows-vision-of-star-wars-episode-ix2.jpg

Those living on Coruscant have taken refuge beneath the old Jedi Temple and the city’s streets. Using old Empire weapons, they’ve created an army of old AT-STs in order to try and take their home back from the First Order.

cool-concept-art-created-for-colin-trevorrows-vision-of-star-wars-episode-ix17.jpg

And here they are in action! It looks like the citizens of Coruscant have actually donned old Imperial Stormtrooper armour, which does make sense as it offers them some protection against the onslaught to come from the First Order.

A battle like this would have been amazing to behold, and it’s been said that Finn waving that flag would have been a huge character moment for him and likely quite a bit more exciting than him wanting to tell Rey something but never doing so.

cool-concept-art-created-for-colin-trevorrows-vision-of-star-wars-episode-ix5.jpg

R2-D2 was going to be destroyed during the final battle, and here we see an emotional Threepio bidding farewell to his oldest friend (don’t worry, though, he would have been restored and brought back to life right at the end of the movie).

Look closely at Kylo Ren here and we get our best look yet at the new mask he would have worn to cover his face after it was left horribly scarred by an ancient Sith weapon, which wouldn’t have granted him access to its secrets due to him being so conflicted.

As Luke appeared in front of his nephew, he would have used the Force to grab Kylo Ren’s lightsaber blade in what would have no doubt been a powerful moment on screen.

Upon realising that the First Order were fighting a losing battle, General Hux took the coward’s way out and used one of the lightsabers in his collection (it would have been purple in the movie) to commit seppuku.

cool-concept-art-created-for-colin-trevorrows-vision-of-star-wars-episode-ix4.jpg

This was clearly meant to pay homage to A New Hope, as Leia would have recorded a message to send out to the wider Galaxy in order to let them know that they could rise up and help the Resistance end the First Order once and for all.

Jodie Whittaker Confirms She’ll Return as The Doctor in DOCTOR WHO Season 13

jodie-whittaker-confirms-shell-return-as-the-doctor-in-doctor-who-season-13-social.jpg

For those of you Doctor Who fans who have been enjoying Jodie Whittaker’s take on the thirteenth Doctor, you’ll be happy to learn that she has confirmed she’ll be back for Doctor Who Season 13! She announced the news in a recent interview with EW. When asked about it, the possibility of returning, she said:

“Yes, I’m doing another season. That might be a massive exclusive that I’m not supposed to say, but it’s unhelpful for me to say [I don’t know] because it would be a massive lie!… I absolutely adore it. At some point, these shoes are going to be handed on, but it’s not yet. I’m clinging on tight!”

I’m happy to see that Whittaker will be back for at least one more season. I’ve enjoyed the energy and quirkiness that she brings to the character. If she’s coming back, I imagine she’ll also be joined by her pals Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill, and Sharon D Clarke.

The series is currently in the middle of airing its twelfth season with its next episode 12.05 titled “Fugitive of the Judoon” scheduled to air this Sunday on January 26th.

Are you happy to hear that Whittaker will be back as The Doctor next season?
