Check Out Some Beautiful Art from the Cancelled THE LAST OF US Animated Project

The Last of Us is an incredibly popular game that is often heralded for its amazing story. Oddfellows was supposed to create a 20-minute animated short film to be released before the launch of The Last of Us 2 this May. Unfortunately, the project was scrapped, but thanks to the wonder of the internet, we can check out some of the artwork from the project.

In anticipation of The Last of Us II, we were asked to create a compelling short film depicting the main characters Joel and Ellie as they retell their dramatic story chronicled in the original game.

Our proposal was to reinterpret each of the chapters of the game with a unique visual treatment. Using singular narrative device would allow us to bridge the styles and travel seamlessly between the past and present. Ultimately Sony decided not to move forward with this project.

I’ve included some of my favorite pieces below, but you can find more information on Google Cache and previously published images on Imgur.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Aline Brosh McKenna sets music comedy Hit at Hulu

Aline Brosh McKenna (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator, The Devil Wears Prada, 27 Dresses) has signed a three-year overall deal with ABC Studios to develop projects across all platforms for the studio via McKenna’s new company, Lean Machine, Deadline has confirmed. The first project under the new pact is the musical comedy Hit currently in development at Hulu.

Hit tells the story of a young pop star, struggling to write her debut album, who gets stuck in a songwriting boot camp organized by the anxious execs at her record label.

“I am so excited to be partnering with ABC Studios,” said McKenna. “Dana (Walden), Jonnie (Davis) and the whole development team have so much passion for creating unique, quality television. I’m thrilled for the chance to continue working on projects I love. I hope Lean Machine will be a home for material that is character-driven, inclusive, human and which puts writers and writing at the center of the creative process.”

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great, Sweet/Vicious) is attached to direct. The series is co-written by McKenna and Alden Derck (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend). McKenna, Robinson, and Derck will executive produce.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3 Episode 3 Recap

In the previous episode of Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Sabrina removed Lucifer from Nick’s body. In Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3 Episode 3, Nick rejoined the Academy, as Caliban challenged Sabrina to a competition, and a carnival opened in Greendale.

Unholy Regalia

Sabrina wanted to play hooky to spend the day with Nick, who was struggling with PTSD-like symptoms and a clubbed foot as the results of his time with Lucifer. Unfortunately, Lilith called her back to court to discuss the terms of the reformation of hell. During this, Caliban arrived with 666 signatures of the high-borns of hell and challenged Sabrina to find the Unholy Regalia, starting with Herod’s crown.

While at the Academy, Sabrina enlisted the help of Ambrose, the new librarian. He realized the crown was in Riverdale. Ambrose and Sabrina pulled the crown from a tree, not knowing that Herod guarded it. Sabrina wanted to take it straight to court, but Ambrose convinced her to let him study it since the power it held could help them restore the Academy.

The Carnival

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3 Episode 3 Recap

Harvey and Roz, Sabrina and Nick, and Theo and the new kid, Robin, went to the opening of the new carnival in Greendale. Roz unknowingly could see the true nature of those that ran the carnival. Harvey struggled with Roz’s new popularity. Theo and Robin kissed on the Ferris wheel after he explained his transition. Ms. Wardwell had her palm read, and she began to question what had happened to Adam.

Herod attacked Sabrina and Nick in the tunnel of love. Caliban stole the crown as they fought off Herod. Ambrose came to their rescue and destroyed Herod. At court, Sabrina resolved to beat Caliban to the other two items of Unholy Regalia. Nick believed that Caliban would be a suitor for Sabrina and went to Dorian Gray’s to ease his pain.

At the end of the episode, we saw the people of the carnival, including Robin, meet to discuss Sabrina and her friends. They planted a flower and performed a ritual including a blood sacrifice.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3 Episode 3 Recap

Illness began to permeate what was left of the Church of Night. Even Zelda was coming down with a cold. She worried about what that would mean for their powers. Zelda asked Hilda to entertain those that were sick while she appointed Prudence to be a prefect of the Academy. Zelda discovered that the entire school was obsessed with a witch romance novel that Hilda had written under the name Helga Stillwell. Dr. Cee had helped her publish it. It included a reference to a villainous sister.

Epix’s War of the Worlds trailer reimagines H.G. Wells’ classic tale

Epix has released the War of the Worlds trailer for the upcoming drama series starring Golden Globe winner Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment) and Oscar nominee Elizabeth McGovern (Ragtime, Downton Abbey). Serving as a modern reimagining of H.G. Wells’ classic science fiction novel, you can watch the trailer for the series adaptation below!

Created by award-winning writer Howard Overman (Misfits), War of the Worlds is a multi-faceted series set in present-day Europe. When astronomers detect a transmission from another galaxy, it is definitive proof of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The world’s population waits for further contact with bated breath. They do not have to wait long. Within days, mankind is all but wiped out; just pockets of humanity are left in an eerily deserted world.

As alien ships appear in the sky, the survivors ask a burning question – who are these attackers and why are they hell-bent on our destruction? This is a story of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances – but they are more than just victims in a brutal war. For, as we will come to realize, the aliens’ savage attack on earth is not arbitrary: its seeds are being sown before our very eyes.

The series also stars Léa Drucker, Natasha Little, Daisy Edgar Jones, Stéphane Caillard, Adel Bencherif, and Guillaume Gouix. The first four episodes were directed by Gilles Coulier (Cargo, The Natives). Episode five to eight were directed by Richard Clark (Innocent, Versailles).

Epix’s War of the Worlds is produced by Urban Myth Films in partnership with CANAL+, Fox Networks Group, Europe & Africa, and AGC Television. Howard Overman, Julian Murphy, and Johnny Capps for Urban Myth Films serve as executive producers.

The series will premiere on February 16.

Sony Picture has released a 28-minute long featurette for director Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood titled “A Love Letter To Hollywood.” In the video, Tarantino, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and the other members of the cast and crew “showcase the artistry that went into creating this story of an enduring friendship in a time of change.”

This is the kind of special feature that you would find on a DVD or Blu-ray, but Sony Pictures is obviously looking to give it a little extra push as members of the Academy Awards are in the voting phase.

If you are a fan of Tarantino’s latest movie, this featurette is a must-watch as it offer some interesting insight that you are sure to appreciate.
