The first passaged from the Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is quite revealing.

Western Gundam fans should be excited. Bandai Namco recently announced that Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS. Maxiboost On is officially coming to the Americas! This 2v2 PVP Mobile Suit fighting game will allow you and your friends to pit your favorite Mobile Suits against each other and see which one reigns supreme. You’ll be able to choose from 183 units that span 36 Gundam iterations. The real question is, did your favorite make the cut?

In addition to picking your favorite Mobile Suits, players will be able to chose between three different EX Burst Systems: Fighting, Extend, and Shooting, as another layer of strategy as you coordinate with your partner. Players will be able to play with up to three friends online for co-op and PVP, and all the voices will be Japanese with English subtitles.

Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS. Maxiboost On will be available on PS4 later this year.

Batman: The Animated Series Adventures – Shadow of the Bat launches on Kickstarter

IDW Games, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC, have announced Batman: The Animated Series Adventures – Shadow of the Bat will launch on Kickstarter on February 18. A miniatures-driven board game, Shadow of the Bat is part of the Adventures Universal Game System (AUGS), and is compatible with all other AUGS products. Arkham Asylum, a full-sized expansion, will also launch on Kickstarter alongside Shadow of the Bat. Both Shadow of the Bat and Arkham Asylum are expected to arrive to backers and in stores in Fall 2020. Running off the AUGS engine, Shadow of the Bat offers unrivaled flexibility and player choice. Players can take the role of any hero in their roster in the game’s 24 unique missions, all inspired by fan-favorite episodes. Likewise, even villains can be swapped out in every mission to change up the threats that players will face.

In Shadow of the Bat, 1-4 players will take to the streets as Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Commissioner Gordon, and Catwoman, each with their own unique character abilities, skills, and custom dice. And they’ll have to work together in order to take down the likes of Two-Face, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, The Joker, and Harley Quinn. As with other AUGS games, villains can be controlled by the game itself for full co-op play, or by a 5th player. AUGS’ modularity means that players can even create their own dream scenarios and teams, including bringing in elements from other AUGS products.

Launching alongside Shadow of the Bat is the Arkham Asylum expansion, which will add 13 more missions to play through, and an all-new game mode: Clayface mode. In Arkham Asylum players will explore the halls of the infamous psychiatric hospital as they tangle with Clayface, Poison Ivy, Jervis Tetch, The Ventriloquist, Killer Croc, Maxie Zeus, Lock-Up, Clock King, Baby Doll, and Hugo Strange. In Clayface mode, each hero will be given a card that will indicate if they are who they appear to be, or if they’re actually Clayface in hiding. At any time, the Clayface player can reveal their true identity, transforming into the massive Clayface, and turn on their former friends!

Players will also have the option to expand their roster of heroes and villains with The New Batman Adventures character pack, containing Nightwing, Tim Drake as Robin, Calendar Girl, and Firefly. Story Packs for Mask of the Phantasm and Mystery of the Batwoman will also be available, adding new missions and characters–The Phantasm and Bruce Wayne in plain clothes, and Batwoman and Bane, respectively–that follow the films’ stories.

Anyone looking to try before they buy will be able to play a digital demo of Batman: The Animated Series Adventures – Shadow of the Bat through either Tabletopia or Tabletop Simulator. Australia is having some rough times right now, and the Dungeons & Dragons community is trying to step up. Over on DMs Guild, D&D players can find three charity bundles that cost $9.99 each with all proceeds going to the Red Cross and the World Wildlife Fund in Australia. The first bundle is the Fight Fire with Games – Community Creators bundle full of content from many creators. Some of the contents include Encounters of the Savage Seas, Uncaged Vol. III, and The Most Dangerous Game, but there are dozens more, so go check it out. The second bundle, Fight Fire with Games – Adventure League, is full of creator’s adventures for Adventure League play. Finally, Fight Fire with Games – Wizards of the Coast is a bundle of official Wizards of the Coast content including Locathah Rising and a few adventures. Each of these bundles will save you at least 80%, and you’ll be supporting some good causes.

Captain Tsubasa is an anime from the 80s about soccer. Of course, because it was anime, everything was awesomely dramatized. Well, now for the first time since Tecmo Cup Soccer Game (yes, that was technically considered a Captain Tsubasa game) fans in the West will get to play Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions which looks like an amazing anime version of FIFA which instantly makes it at least 20 times greater.

You’ll be able to hit the pitch in Rise of New Champions later in 2020 on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PS4.

Nightmare of the Wolf: The Witcher anime film in the works at Netflix

Following the successful series debut of The Witcher last December, Netflix has officially announced they are currently developing an anime film adaptation of a new Witcher story titled Nightmare of the Wolf which will be produced by the series’ executive producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau DeMayo.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is set to expand the world of The Witcher as it explores a powerful new threat facing The Continent. The anime film is production by Studio Mir, the Korean animation studio behind Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra and Netflix’s original anime series Voltron Legendary Defender.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. The Witcher series for Netflix will be based on the stories and novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, of which there are eight, which themselves formulated the popular Witcher games franchise which has since spawned a comic book series and a tabletop game. The book series was previously adapted for television in Poland.

Schmidt Hissrich will serve as executive producer and showrunner for The Witcher. She’s known for her work (writing and co-executive producing) on The Defenders, Daredevil, and Power. Sean Daniel is set to executive produce under the Sean Daniel Company with his partner Jason Brown. Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Image will executive produce as well.

All eight episodes of the first season are already available for streaming on Netflix.
