The novel’s official synopsis ads: “A Navy SEAL has nothing left to live for and everything to kill for after he discovers that the American government is behind the deaths of his team in this ripped-from-the-headlines political thriller.

On his last combat deployment, Lieutenant Commander James Reece’s entire team was killed in a catastrophic ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government.

Now, with no family and free from the military’s command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he’s learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward avenging the deaths of his family and teammates. With breathless pacing and relentless suspense, Reece ruthlessly targets his enemies in the upper echelons of power without regard for the laws of combat or the rule of law.”

New Zack Snyder’s Justice League Teaser Spotlights the Man of Steel

Zack Snyder has released another character teaser for his long-awaited director’s cut of Justice League, featuring new footage from the HBO Max film. After unveiling the Batman promo yesterday, the new 50-second video now turns the spotlight to Henry Cavill’s Superman as he dons the hero’s iconic black suit. Check out the video in the player below!

Snyder probably has the best connection with the character of Superman as his 2013 film Man of Steel was the first installment of the growing DCEU franchise. It was also at the film’s virtual screening last year where Snyder officially confirmed that Warner Bros. would finally be releasing his director’s cut.

Justice League will be hitting HBO Max as a four-hour movie on March 18. It was originally revealed at DC FanDome that the movie will release on HBO Max in 2021 by being broken up into four one-hour parts that will also be released as one four-hour film, but will now solely be released as a one-off film instead of the four-part series. Snyder says that there will be no after-credits scenes.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director’s original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut.

Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

Hellsing: Amazon & John Wick Writer Adapting Japanese Manga into Film

According to Deadline, Amazon Studios is in the process of developing a live-action film adaptation of Hellsing, based on Kouta Hirano’s popular action-horror manga of the same name. John Wick scribe Derek Kolstad has officially signed on to the project to pen and executive produce the adaptation.

“Ever since my brother introduced me to the Hellsing manga and anime some years ago, I’ve been obsessed with adapting it,” Kolstad said. “And when Mike Callaghan and his team managed to secure the rights to then partner us up with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Amazon, I mean -damn, dude- this is a dream.”

The Hellsing film is the latest addition to Kolstad’s growing list of projects including the highly-anticipated fourth installment to John Wick; The Man From Nowhere English remake; My Friend Pedro series; and Constantin Films’ film adaptation of the Just Cause video game. His next writing projects are the upcoming MCU series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Universal’s action-thriller Nobody which are both set to be released this month.

Hellsing was written and illustrated by Kouta Hirano. It tells a reimagined story of Dracula where it centered around  Alucard, a special agent bound to The Hellsing Organization, under the leadership of Integra Hellsing, great-granddaughter of Abraham Van Hellsing, to aid them in their mission to protect England and the world from vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural threats. The manga also focuses on Hellsing’s newest recruit, a female ex-police officer named Seras Victoria.

The original manga series was first serialized in Shōnen Gahōsha’s Japanese manga magazine called Young King OURS from 1997-2008. Later on, it was licensed for an English language release by Dark Horse Comics. Hirano had also released a prequel manga series to Hellsing titled The Dawn which was published in special editions of Young King OURS from 2001 to 2009. The manga was also adapted into a 10-episode anime series by Gonzo which ran on-air from 2001-2002.

“I’ve always loved the vampire genre, especially when a creator is able to put their own unique spin on it, so when Derek introduced me to Alucard and the Hellsing Organization, I knew we had something special in that tradition,” producer Mike Callaghan said. “Kouta Hirano’s gonzo reimagining of the Dracula-Van Helsing mythology is an exhilarating, quirky mashup of action and horror that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. We are incredibly excited to partner with Brian and Fred at Automatik and that Amazon is on board to help us bring the wit and madness of ‘Hellsing’ to life on screen.”
The live-action Hellsing film will be produced by Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger along with Mike Callaghan and Reuben Liber for Ranger 7 Films. Executive producers are Automatik’s Gemma Levinson, Tetsu Fujimura of Filosophia, India Osborne, Pierre Buffin, and Jason Speer with Soluble Fish Productions’ Jason Lust set to produce.

New Chinese Trailer For GODZILLA VS. KONG Focuses on Kong and Includes a Lot of New Footage

new-chinese-trailer-for-godzilla-vs-kong-focuses-on-kong-and-includes-a-lot-of-new-footage.jpg

We’ve got a new Chinese trailer to share with you for Godzilla Vs. Kong. This one puts a major focus on King Kong offering a little insight on his backstory and the relationship he has with that little girl that we’ve seen in previously released trailers. There’s also a lot of other new footage that fans might be excited about seeing featuring Godzilla and Kong clashing with each other.

The crossover event film will pit two of the greatest icons in motion picture history against one another — the fearsome Godzilla and the mighty Kong — with humanity caught in the balance.

The film was directed by Adam Wingard (The Guest, You’re Next, Death Note), and the synopsis reads:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

As the gigantic Kong meets the unstoppable Godzilla, the world watches to see which one of them will become King of the Monsters.

It’s been explained by the director that one of the two will win. I have a feeling that it will end up being Kong because he’s kind of the underdog and it’s always fun to root for the underdog.

The film stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist), Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Shun Oguri (Gintama), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Demian Bichir (The Nun), Van Marten (The Walking Dead), and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon).

Godzilla Vs. Kong is set to hit theaters and HBO Max simultaneously on May 21, 2021.
