New GODZILLA VS. KONG Featurette Highlights Team Godzilla and Team Kong

new-godzilla-vs-kong-featurette-highlights-team-godzilla-and-team-kong.jpg

Warner Bros. has shared a new featurette for Godzilla Vs. Kong, and it explains that there are two groups of people in the film. There’s a team of people who are on Godzilla’s side and another team that is supporting King Kong. Each team is invested in one of the monstrous titans for different reasons.

It’s explained that team Godzilla and team Kong are two separate stories in the film that intersect. Director Adam Wingard says that each human story in the film is following the monsters story. Team Kong is there to support Kong and his fight with Godzilla, Team Godzilla is trying to figure out why Godzilla is attacking.

The featurette also offers up some cool new footage from the film for you to enjoy.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

As the gigantic Kong meets the unstoppable Godzilla, the world watches to see which one of them will become King of the Monsters.

It’s been explained by the director that one of the two will win. I have a feeling that it will end up being Kong because he’s kind of the underdog and it’s always fun to root for the underdog. There are also going to be other monsters that appear in the film including Mechagodzilla!

The film stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist), Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Shun Oguri (Gintama), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Demian Bichir (The Nun), Van Marten (The Walking Dead), and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon).

Godzilla Vs. Kong is set to hit theaters and HBO Max simultaneously on May 21, 2021.

Zack Snyder has shared a new trailer and poster for Justice League and these put the spotlight on the big bad villain of the story, Darkseid. In it, Darkseid says that the world is divided and that it will fall like all the others. He goes on to say that he has turned 100,000 worlds to dust and that when this world is scorched, all of existence will be his.

The trailer features a good amount of new footage and in one of the last shots, you can see a Green Lantern flying around in battle. This trailer teases some great action and an epic battle.

In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, “determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.

During an interview with Collider, Doctor Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch shared his experience so far making the upcoming sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, including praising director Sam Raimi. Cumberbatch spoke highly about what an “incredible force” Raimi is and how he’s been “so collaborative” on set.

“Sam, amazing. He’s so collaborative. God, he comes with the baggage of an icon. He’s an incredible force, especially in this genre. But he’s so humble, he’s so nice, he’s so appreciative, you really wanna serve him. And boy, when he’s happy, you know you’ve done something right. He’s so good at getting you there and getting it there. It’s been a very, very collaborative process, this one. Our origin stories, I guess, and obviously the beasts that were the Avengers films to be a part of were a thrill, but you’re kind of just along for the ride. You do the best with what you’ve already got given to do. The second time around, there’s a bit more of, ‘So, what do you want to do, and how do we go about solving this?’ So it feels very creative. Scarily so, sometimes.”

Benedict also called the sequel “a long shoot” saying they’ve been filming since before Christmas, and that he feels “very safe on set” thanks to the safety guidelines and “test and tracing system” they’ve implemented while shooting during the ongoing pandemic.

Cumberbatch will next be reprising his role as Dr. Stephen Strange in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man 3 in addition to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The sequel is being described as the first horror film in the MCU with the Oscar nominee returning as the titular sorcerer supreme and Elizabeth Olsen also appearing as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. According to Kevin Feige, the Disney+ shows WandaVision and Loki will both directly impact the events in the Doctor Strange sequel.

Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch appeared in Avengers: Endgame, where they were both last seen attending Tony Stark’s funeral. Loki also appeared in Endgame and was last seen after the events of the Avengers’ first battle in New York, where he escapes with the Tesseract cube.

Originally set to be directed by Scott Derrickson, the sequel is now being helmed by Spider-Man’s Sam Raimi with Loki head writer Michael Waldron having rewritten the script that was first written by The Turning scribe Jade Bartlett. Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Benedict Wong will be reprising their roles, with Rachel McAdams recently confirmed to make her return as Dr. Christine Palmer.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters on March 25, 2022.

It also featured the MCU debut of critical characters from the pages of Marvel Comics, including Benedict Wong as Wong, plus Mads Mikkelsen as villain Kaecilius, and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One (who is of Celtic origin in the film instead of East Asian origin). Doctor Strange was directed by Scott Derrickson, whose previous credits were primarily horror films like The Exorcism of Emily RoseSinister, and Deliver Us from Evil.

The Roller Derby Comic SLAM! is Being Adapted as an Animated Series For HBO Max

HBO Max is developing an animated series that is set in the world of roller derby titled Slam! The series is being adapted from a comic book series of the same name.

WarnerMedia-owned Rooster Teeth Studios, BOOM! Studios and Minnow Mountain are producing the project, which is co-created by Pamela Ribon and Veronica Fish. Ribon and Fish co-created the comic and also co-wrote feature films such as Moana and Ralph Breaks the Internet. Ribon is also adapting her book.

The story for the series is “set in the fast-paced, hard-hitting, super cheeky, all-female world of banked track roller derby, follows two young women who will have to decide if their budding friendship is stronger than the pull of a team when a win is on the line.”

Ribon actually has some personal experience with roller derby, having skated with the LA Derby Dolls for several years. She said in a statement:

“I’m so fortunate to have the coolest, talented-est, Austin-est animation studios in the world partnering to bring Slam! to life as a television series. Billy Wee and the team at HBO Max geeked out just as hard as we did when talking about where this could go in storytelling and animation. That’s when knew we’d found the perfect home. We’re so excited to make this rough and tumble, emotional, honest show about what it means to surrender your life, and your knees, to roller derby.”

Ryan P. Hall, Head of Rooster Teeth Studios added:

“We are beyond thrilled to be working with BOOM! Studios and Minnow Mountain to bring Slam! to life in animation. Pam Ribon is one of the best storytellers in the business and Slam! is a truly inspiring story, so we can’t wait to share this world with the HBO Max audience.”

The series will be brought to life using a combination of rotoscoped and 3D animation with Craig Staggs and Steph Swope’s Minnow Mountain animating. They previously worked on Amazon’s Undone.

Oxygen Trailer: Mélanie Laurent leads Alexandre Aja’s Netflix thriller

While gearing up to return to the horror genre for Searchlight Pictures’ Elijah, Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Alexandre Aja’s long-in-development thriller Oxygen starring Mélanie Laurent (6 Underground, Inglorious Basterds) as an amnesiac racing against time to save her own life. The trailer can be viewed below!

Penned by Christie LeBlanc (How to Make a Reality Star), the film tells the story of a young woman, who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. As she’s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare.

Alongside Laurent, the cast for the isolated thriller includes Mathieu Amalric (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch) and Malik Zidi (The Assistant, Marie Curie: The Courage of Knowledge). When the film was first announced as being in development under the title O2 in July 2017, Anne Hathaway (The Witches) had signed on to star in the central role and produce the project, but as it languished in development hell, she would eventually depart and Noomi Rapace (What Happened to Monday) signed on to replace her in early 2020 and Aja signing on as producer.

A few months later, Aja would elect to step into the director’s chair, replacing Franck Khalfoun (P2, Maniac), and Laurent signed on to replace Rapace with Amalric and Zidi. In addition to directing, Aja is serving as producer alongside Vincent Maraval (French Exit), Brahim Chioua (Climax), Noëmie Devide (Spring Breakers) and frequent collaborator Grégory Levasseur (The Pyramid, Crawl), with Adam Riback and James Engle executive producing via their Echo Lake Entertainment banner.

James Gunn Debunks Rumors of Zac Efron Joining Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

In response to a report from The Illuminerdi that originally stated James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was currently casting for Adam Warlock, the filmmaker responded on Twitter confirming that “there is no casting underway for Vol. 3.” Gunn also addressed the outlet reporting that “Marvel is looking to cast a thirty-year-old Caucasian man, who is described as both a ‘super hero type’ and a ‘Zac Efron type’ as Adam Warlock.”

“In what world would I only cast a ‘Caucasian’ if the character has gold skin? And if I wanted a Zac Efron type wouldn’t I go to Zac Efron?” Gunn said in a Tweet, which you can view below.

Adam Warlock was introduced at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), the Golden High Priestess of the Sovereign created Adam using an advanced birth pod to help her destroy the Guardians of the Galaxy. The character was originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and was further developed by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane in the Marvel Comics.

The space-traveling team was most recently seen in the box-office breaking Avengers: Endgame and while their next solo adventure doesn’t have an official release date, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  is expected in 2023, written and directed by Gunn. According to TheWrap, Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan recently filmed in Australia for Thor: Love and Thunder.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy was the surprise hit of the second phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, grossing nearly $775 million at the box office and earning widespread critical acclaim for its abundance of humor, emotional story and Gunn’s direction, in addition to its soundtrack becoming the first album of its genre consisting of previously released songs to top the Billboard 200 chart and having sold over 2.5 million copies in 2014 alone. The second film hit theaters three years later and prove to be a near equal success to its predecessor, grossing over $800 million at the box office and earning more acclaim from critics and audiences who continued to praise the performances, direction, soundtrack and story while some criticized a feeling of familiarity in some of the film’s humor.
