Sam Raimi Says He’s “Completely Open” to Directing a SPIDER-MAN 4 With Tobey Maguire

Director Sam Raimi brought us the original big screen Spider-Man trilogy that kicked off in 2002 and starred Tobey Maguire. It was a great set of films, and it did an excellent job showing the studios that fans love superhero films and were ready to see more. After his trilogy was completed, however, Raimi took a break from the genre and returned to horror, making Drag Me to Hell. He then went on to make Oz the Great and Powerful, among a few other projects, but has finally returned to make our next Marvel movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

This was an epic movie for him to take on, as it’s the culmination of a few different stories that have been brewing over the past few years, and the multiverse storyline on its own is such a beast! But he is up for it, and apparently, he’s also “completely open” to directing a Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire if the opportunity were to arise.

In a recent interview with Moviepilot (via CB), Raimi was asked about the possibility in the wake of Maguire’s return to the character in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Raimi said:

“I didn’t think it was possible but after jumping back in with the multiverse, I realized that anything is possible now so I’m completely open to it.”

In a previous conversation with Fandango, the director talked about how much he would love to work with Maguire again, saying, “I’ve come to realize after making Doctor Strange that anything is possible, really anything in the Marvel universe, any team-ups,” Raimi said when asked about another possible Spider-Man sequel. “I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible. I don’t really have a story or a plan. I don’t know if Marvel would be interested in that right now. I don’t know what their thoughts are about that. I haven’t really pursued that. But it sounds beautiful. Even if it wasn’t a Spider-Man movie, I’d love to work with Tobey again, in a different role.”

Fans would line up to see another Maguire Spider-Man. It’s evident from the love given to the trio of Peter Parkers in No Way Home. I’d love to see Maguire and Andrew Garfield team up to save Tom Holland from his current predicament, but that sounds far-fetched. Would you be down to see Raimi and Maguire make a Spider-Man 4?
