5 TV Cliffhangers that were never resolved

ComingSoon.net is taking a look at some of television’s most upsetting cliffhangers that were never resolved. Check out our choices in the gallery below!

What’s interesting about a television show compared to a feature film is the fact that a show’s total running time is never clear—if a movie’s plot goes unresolved by the end, it’s probably intentional. If a show gets cancelled before finishing its main storylines, then it’s likely a product of its cancellation and not part of the grand scheme.

That’s why, in many cases, plenty of shows go without ever seeing any form of resolution. We’re living in a time where a whole bunch of shows are getting brought back, but it’s unlikely these shows we’ve compiled will ever get any sort of proper conclusion. It’s unfortunate, but it’s also commonplace.

Sylvester Stallone Has a New Story Idea For The ROCKY Franchise

It looks like Sylvester Stallone might not be done with the Rocky film franchise after all. After saying that Creed II would be his last time playing Rocky Balboa, the actor revealed that he has an idea for a new story for the Rocky franchise that would require him to come back for the role.

During a career retrospective talk at Cannes (via Deadline), Stallone shared his new story concept, saying:

“I have a great idea for Rocky. He finds this fella in the country illegally and it becomes a whole thing. It’s like the magician who lost his tricks. You’ve seen everything, but what can be different? Throw him out of the country, he’s in another world.”

That would certainly be an interesting story and it’s one that I can totally see Stallone excited about telling. Sylvester Stallone went on to compare the character Rocky to the character Rambo, saying:

“Rambo deals with the dark side of nature that most people live with. Rocky is different, he’s more the optimist, there’s optimism and pessimism in these two characters.”

Only time will tell if this is something that he will end up doing. But I love the Rocky franchise, so if he does make it, I’ll show up to support and watch it.

Would you like to see Stallone come back as Rocky for another film?

BETWEEN TWO FERNS: THE MOVIE Gets a Release Date and Details

between two ferns bradley cooper.jpg

We heard a few months ago that the Funny or Die web series Between Two Ferns is getting a movie. The show is a series of interviews done by Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) with celebrity guests that he awkwardly asks questions to. We now have info on the release date and plot for the Netflix movie, as well as a poster for the film.

Here’s the synopsis:

Zach Galifianakis dreamed of becoming a star. But when Will Ferrell discovered his public access TV show “Between Two Ferns” and uploaded it to Funny Or Die, Zach became a viral laughing stock. Now Zach and his crew are taking a road trip to complete a series of high-profile celebrity interviews and restore his reputation. Directed by Scott Aukerman, Between Two Ferns: The Movie is a laugh-out-loud comedy that gives new insight into the curmudgeonly, beloved outsider Zach Galifianakis has created over the years.

That sounds like it will be funny. We don’t have new casting news, but we already knew that Peter Dinklage, David Letterman, Keanu Reeves, Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper would be included in the movie, and that alone makes for a great cast!

And here is the poster for the film:

New WALLACE AND GROMIT Project Headed Our Way

wallace and gromit.jpg

Nick Park, the creator of the Wallace and Gromit characters and films, has told THR that he has some ideas brewing for some new Wallace and Gromit projects. But while we have had movies in the past, Park is thinking something smaller in scale this time around. Here’s what he had to say about the upcoming project:

“I think having just reached (age) 60, you sort of start to think how much can I do, you know?” says Aardman director Park. “And I’ve got so many ideas, and feature films just take so long. So, I’m not saying ‘no’ but at the moment, a half hour seems far more attractive I must say.”

I had no idea that stop-motion clay took so long to shoot. Park’s last feature film, Early Man, took five years to complete! And a half-hour short would take around a year. Park went on to say that there’s really no way to speed up the process and if you can shoot three seconds in a day, you’ve had a good day. Park went on to say about this idea:

“I feel I’m onto a good idea,” Park shares, “and I can’t give too much away because it would spoil it really, but it’s Wallace & Gromit up to their old antics.”

Good enough for me! My whole family enjoys the Wallace and Gromit movies, and I’m sure this upcoming project will be no different.

Are you a fan of the Wallace and Gromit characters and their stories?

Kelsey Grammer Says There Are Six Different Ideas For The FRASIER Revival

kelsey-grammer-says-there-are-six-different-ideas-for-the-frasier-revival-social.jpg

Last year it was revealed that Kelsey Grammer and CBS were looking at reviving the classic series Frasier. The last thing we heard about the series was that Grammer had not “settled yet on a premise worthy of a Frasier reboot, but he’s still on the hunt.” He explained:

“No, there’s been no premise that has come along that has the necessary fire. A lot of us are quite committed to the concept that you would never try to redo what we once had.”

Grammer then said that he would like his fellow Frasier cast mates to join him on the series reboot, saying:

“There has been some discussions; nothing is planned; There is nothing set in stone. In my own personal approach to what I’ve discussed with other people is that I wouldn’t want to do it without these guys.”

Now we are learning in a new report from Deadline that there are “six different ideas” in contention for a Frasier revival. The news came from Grammer himself, who said:

“That little folder is filled with six different ideas that are all in contention for what may be the new Frasier. A continuation of Frasier. They’re similar, it’s a new life, in a new city.”

He went on to add that an important addition to the new series would be to have an actor and character that has the same kind of energy that the late actor John Mahoney brought the the original series as Martin Crane.

“Of course, John Mahoney died so you’d need to replace that energy, perhaps like they did on Cheers with Coach, they found Woody, who had the same kind of sensibility.”

Frasier is one of my all-time favorite comedy series and I’m actually super excited about the revival and I hope that they end up moving forward with it in some way with one of these ideas.

What would you like to see in a Frasier revival?

Our First Look at Dazzler in X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Comes From a New Music Video For The Film

It was already confirmed that Dazzler would make her big movie debut in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but she hasn’t been included in any of the trailers, TV spots, or promos for the film… until now.

A music video has been released for one of the film’s tie-in songs called “Extraordinary Being” by Emeli Sande. The music video features footage from the film and at the two minute mark, a blonde woman in a white jumpsuit appears on screen, as light energy swirls around her in the air.

We don’t know how big a role Dazzler will play in the film, but I imagine it won’t be a big one. As for who is playing the character, I’m not sure who it is. It was rumored at one point that The Orville’s Halston Sage would be playing the character, but I can’t tell if that’s her.

Unfortunately, the character won’t get any real character development. She’ll briefly show up in this final film and then that’ll be it. Maybe Marvel will utilize her more when they eventually get around to making an X-Men movie.

Dark Phoenix is set to hit theaters on Friday, June 7th.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Reveals a COMMANDO Scrapped Scene Where He Beats a Guy To Death with a Severed Arm

Arnold Schwarzenegger recently used the opportunity during a Reddit AMA to share a scene from Commando that he wanted to shoot, but it ended up never happening because it was just too insane for the head of the studio.

If you’re a fan of Commando, you’re gonna get a kick out of this and wish that it would have been included in the film. It involves Schwarzenegger beating a guy to death with his own severed arm!

“As soon as a carried a thousand pound log with one arm I knew it was funny. But let me share the scenes you didn’t see that I tired to get in.

“I wanted to cut off a guys’s arm and kill him with it. This wasn’t in the script. He would throw a knife at me and after he missed, while his arm was still extended, I chop it off a the shoulder with a machete and beat him to death with it. Needless to say, I was asked by the head of the studio, Larry Gordon to come to his office. And he said ‘what the fuck is the matter with you? DO you want to make money with this movie or an x-rated movie?’

“I said ‘you’re right’ and he said ‘get the fuck out of my office.'”

What Arnold reveals about the scene after that is the cherry on top. When he is asked what the one-liner for that arm-beating moment would be, Schwarzenegger said:

“Thanks for lending me a hand.”

That would have been a classic Schwarzenegger movie moment! That would have gone down in cinema history as one of the greats. It’s a shame and a crime that he never got to do it.

The DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Cartoon Gets an Incredible Live-Action Remake Far a Car Commercial

the-dungeons-dragons-cartoon-gets-an-incredible-live-action-remake-far-a-car-commercial-social.jpg

A Brazilian car commercial for Renault has made an odd choice. They did a live-action remake of the 1980s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon in there. The commercial starts with the live-action versions of the cartoon’s characters fighting a dragon in a pretty cool sequence and then the Dungeon Master shows up in a Kwid Outsider that the group is able to drive through a magic portal and end up in the real world at a fair.

Dungeons & Dragons originally aired from 1983-1985 on CBS and centered around a group of children from the real world who were teleported into the world of the game after climbing aboard an amusement park ride. The kids were given magical weapons by the Dungeon Master and began their quest to return home, facing the corrupted Venger (who is in actuality the Dungeon Master’s son) and other threats during their journey.

Based on the description above, there’s a lot of detail in this car commercial for the characters and their abilities. I know D&D’s popularity was on the rise, but I never thought it’d be used to sell cars.

Do you have fond memories of watching the D&D cartoon series or is your only experience playing the game?

Tarantino Compares ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD To PULP FICTION and Says It’s His Love Letter To L.A.

I’ve been loving the hell out of everything I’ve seen from Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! The last trailer that was released was incredible and that was followed by a bunch of glowing reviews from audiences who had a chance to see the film at the Cannes Film Festival.

During a recent interview with Esquire, Tarantino compared his new film to Pulp Fiction and says it’s his love letter to Los Angeles.

“This film is the closest thing I’ve done to Pulp Fiction.”

This is in regards to the structure of the film and how multiple characters and story lines that are seemingly unrelated, all eventually intersect and intertwine with each other in unexpected and fun ways.

Tarantino goes on to say that it is his “most personal” film, and adds:

“I think of it like my memory piece. Alfonso [Cuarón] had Roma and Mexico City, 1970. I had L. A. and 1969. This is me. This is the year that formed me. I was six years old then. This is my world. And this is my love letter to L. A.”

I know we have a good idea of what the story for the film tells, but the article offers a new description of the story that offers a bit more insight. That description is as follows:

It’s 1969, a year of tremendous upheaval, not just in America’s streets but also on the backlots of Hollywood. The Golden Age is ending. The original studio system, which has been a source of stability and structure for fifty years, is collapsing as the under-thirty counterculture rejects traditional plotlines and traditional leading men. It’s the year Easy Rider and Midnight Cowboy and The Wild Bunch break big—films that celebrate the antihero and upend the definition of what a matinee idol looks like. It’s against this background that we meet Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a declining star and a veteran of TV westerns. Rick has, through a combination of ego and dumb decisions, blown his chance to cross over into movie stardom like Steve McQueen (Damian Lewis). About the only thing he can count on is the friendship of his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). (Meanwhile, Rick’s agent, played by Al Pacino, is trying to get him to do a spaghetti western.)

Then, one night, Rick realizes he might just be one pool party away from turning his career around. His new neighbors, it turns out, are the golden girl of the moment, Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), and her husband, Roman Polanski (Rafal Zawierucha), who is, thanks to Rosemary’s Baby, the hottest director in town. The stories of Rick, Cliff, and Tate unfold over three days or, as Tarantino says, in three acts: February 8, February 9, and, finally, August 8—the night when Charles Manson (Damon Herriman) dispatched four members of his “Family” to the house next to Rick’s on Cielo Drive in Beverly Hills, where they found Tate, hairdresser Jay Sebring (Emile Hirsch), and three others. It was the night when, as Joan Didion famously wrote, “the sixties ended abruptly . . . the tension broke . . . the paranoia was fulfilled.” Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood is a film that vibrates with ambition, with the entire cast performing at the height of their talent, inside a brilliant story.

I can’t wait to see this movie when it hits theaters on July 26th, 2019.
