Thrilling Trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s PARASITE – “A Pitch Black Modern Fairytale”

Bong Joon-ho, the director of films such as Memories of Murder, The Host, Mother, Snowpiercer, and Okja, has made a new movie called Parasite, and it looks like a freakin’ great movie! The first trailer has been released, and I want to watch this movie now!

The film is described as being a “pitch-black modern fairytale,” and some of the reviews for it are saying it’s one of the best movies of the year. Here’s the synopsis:

Meet the Park Family: the picture of aspirational wealth. And the Kim Family, rich in street smarts but not much else. Be it chance or fate, these two houses are brought together and the Kims sense a golden opportunity. Masterminded by college-aged Ki-woo, the Kim children expediently install themselves as tutor and art therapist, to the Parks. Soon, a symbiotic relationship forms between the two families. The Kims provide “indispensable” luxury services while the Parks obliviously bankroll their entire household. When a parasitic interloper threatens the Kims’ newfound comfort, a savage, underhanded battle for dominance breaks out, threatening to destroy the fragile ecosystem between the Kims and the Parks.

By turns darkly hilarious and heart-wrenching, PARASITE showcases a modern master at the top of his game.

The trailer teases that the story this film tells will be filled with twists and turns. The movie is said to start out going in one direction and then does something completely surprising and different. I love twisted films like this! Film’s that give audiences the unexpected.

The movie stars Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Jang Hye-jin, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, and Park Seo-joon. Parasite will be released in select US theaters on October 11th. Now watch the trailer and tell us what you think!

Crank Yankers trailer teases the return of old favorites & new pranks

Comedy Central has released the official Crank Yankers Season 5 trailer after reviving the series from the show’s original creators Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, and Daniel Kellison. You can check out the trailer now in the player below and catch the series premiere on September 25!

Crank Yankers makes all the crank phone calls you wish you’d made when you were a kid. Yankerville’s puppet citizens — voiced by celebrities and stand-up comedians — make real calls to real people, whether they like it or not.

The cable comedy network said the show would be updated for our new, digital-friendly culture, featuring “the world’s favorite profane puppets will be pranking on phones, social media, e-sport platforms and any venue where trouble can be made.

Jonathan Kimmel serves as showrunner and executive producer, joined by executive producers/creators Kimmel, Carolla, and Kellison. It’ll be the first project for Jimmy Kimmel’s new production banner, Kimmelot.

Crank Yankers has always been my favorite show to make. Nothing is more fun or makes me laugh harder than a great crank call and I am thrilled that Comedy Central asked us to do it again,” said Jimmy Kimmel. “At this time, I would like to ask all Americans to disable their caller ID. Thank you.”

The original series ran on Comedy Central from 2002 to early 2007, when it was briefly moved to MTV2 before being taken off the air a few weeks later. It featured actual prank phone calls made by the show’s regulars, as well as celebrity guests, and later re-enacted onscreen by puppets for added comedic effect.

Interesting Time Travel Easter Egg Found in AVENGERS: ENDGAME

rq8znmv7n2g31.png

With Avengers: Endgame having been out in theaters for awhile, and now available to own, we expect the Easter Eggs to be revealed more frequently, and here is one of them that has popped up!

Redditor u/kobikwahbz was able to catch this little detail when 2014 Nebula is bringing Thanos back to 2023. It shows that VECTOR 2 was going to January 2988. Here, check it out:

just Noticed when nebula was bringing 2014 Thanos to the present there’s what seems to be a history section at the top right part of the screen with dates, 2012, 2988 & 2009. WHO WENT TO 2988?!?! from r/marvelstudios

Not familiar with that date? Or at least the year? In Thor: The Dark World, this is the year that Malekith originally tried to steal the Aether. Here is the description thanks to mcu.fandom:

In 2988B.C., the Convergence took place, linking all of the Nine Realms together. The Dark Elf sorcerer Malekith attempted to use the Convergence as a way of unleashing the Aether, a destructive Infinity Stone , upon the realms and destroy them all entirely; Malekith believed that once the realms were destroyed, he could recreate them in his own image. However, an Asgardian army led by Bor confronted the Dark Elves on their homeworld, Svartalfheim, and the ensuing battle all but destroyed the Dark Elves. However, Malekith and a small group of Dark Elves managed to survive and hid in stasis, while the Aether was found and hidden by Bor.

So, did the crew try to go to 2988 B.C. to get the Aether there instead of making Thor face Jane and potentially his mom? Were they planning on showing a scene there? Is this going to be used at a later date? Who knows? Who cares? Let us know what you think!

The Hit Board Game FIREBALL ISLAND Gets an Unofficial D&D Adventure

fireball_island_d&d.jpg

Fireball Island was a board game from the 1980s that was restored roughly a year ago by Restoration Games in Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul-Kar. Now Restoration Games has gone a step further and created a Dungeons & Dragons adventure module based on the board game. The adventure is designed for a party of three to five level 5 characters and is honestly a clever way to explore some of the lore of the board game. The premise is that the Heart of Vul-Kar was taken from Fireball Island but has since been returned, causing chaos to return to the island. I think this is fantastic, especially if you’re a fan of the board game.

You can find Fireball Island: Isle of the Fire Spirit for free, and if you want more information about the board game Fireball Island, check out Restoration Games’ website.

Infinite will go up against an untitled WB event film on August 7 next year, while Coming to America 2, starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, has been pushed from that date to December 18, 2020. Avatar 2 was originally meant to release at that time but has since been pushed back to December 17, 2021, by Disney. Coming to America 2 will be released against Disney’s West Side Story on December 18 next year.

Evans, who joined the project in February, reportedly had to leave the role due to scheduling conflicts on his Apple TV crime drama Defending Jacob, which is currently filming around various Massachusetts areas.

Directed by Fuqua, Infinite is an action/thriller that tells the story of a group of men and women who are continuously reincarnated century-after-century to battle an evil madman bent on world destruction. The fate of the planet, it turns out, may reside with a schizophrenic man who will have to come to terms with the fact that his dreams are memories from his countless past lives.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura (the Transformers franchise) will be producing alongside Mark Vahradian and John Zaozirny of Bellevue Productions. John Lee Hancock (The Founder) and Ian Shorr (Splinter) are currently attached as screenwriters.

Cookson made her theatrical debut with one of the lead female roles in the spy action blockbuster Kingsman: The Secret Service, for which she earned a nomination for the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer, and would go on to star in the 2017 fantasy blockbuster sequel The Hunstman: Winter’s War and reprise her Kingsman role in a brief capacity in the 2017 sequel, The Golden Circle.

Denis Leary Set to Star in Fox’s Event Series A MOODY CHRISTMAS

denis leary.jpg

Denis Leary (Rescue Me, The Amazing Spider-Man) has signed on to play the lead role in Fox’s upcoming limited event series, A Moody Christmas. The half-hour, six-episode series is based on an Australian limited series of the same name and episode setup that aired in 2012. Variety reports the following synopsis and character description for Leary’s character, Dan Moody.

The single-cam comedy follows Dan Moody as he returns home to spend Christmas with his dysfunctional family. When he arrives, he’s met with the inevitable madness of a family whose members are all hiding things from each other.

Leary will play Sean Sr., the patriarch of the Moody family, all of whom return home to Chicago for the holidays, hiding secrets from one another.

A Moody Christmas is being written and executive produced by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, and Tad Quill. The original series creators Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd and executive producer Jason Burrows are coming on board to executive produce the new version along with Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannembaum. This sounds like a nice holiday dramedy. I’m interested in checking it out. How about you?
