WandaVision Concept Art Reveals Wholesome Home Life

WandaVision Concept Art Reveals Wholesome Home Life

After the D23 Expo this weekend in Anaheim, CA, we have a better idea of what we’re in for with WandaVision, a new limited series that will air exclusively on Disney+. It was revealed during SDCC that the events of the Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will lead to the events of Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) seemingly idyllic life with her robot husband, Vision (Paul Bettany).

Late Sunday night, Andy Parks, Marvel Studios Concept Artist and Director of Visual Development posted an image to Twitter of the show’s concept art, which shows a very Leave It to Beaver-style look, with the two titular characters enjoying some extraordinarily wholesome quality time in their living room. Of course, in the back, we see their superhero counterparts in the shadow, suggesting that there’s much more to this illusion than apple pie and white picket fences.

Scarlet Witch and Vision were last seen together in last summer’s blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War, though the duo parted on rather depressing terms. Scarlet Witch attempted, nay, destroyed the infinity stone inside Vision’s head, thus killing the man she loved. Except Thanos used the time stone in his gauntlet to undo her actions, which brought Vision back to life … but then he died again when Thanos removed the stone from his head and completed his quest to collect all the infinity stones. The infamous snap heard ’round the universe then effectively turned Scarlet Witch to ash.

Michael Shannon Has Signed on to Play Lakers Owner Jerry Buss in HBO True Story Series

Michael Shannon (Midnight Special, The Shape of Water) has signed on to play the icon Jerry Buss, the majority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers during the team’s Showtime era in the ‘80s, in a series pilot for HBO.

The series will chronicle that time in the team’s history. Shannon will show the behind the scenes decisions and life of the man who took a lot of risks and changed the game, making the Lakers the best basketball empire of all time. Shannon joins Jason Clarke, who has already signed on to play Jerry West, coach of the Lakers from 1976-1979 and Lakers executive for pretty much forever after.

The series is being written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla) and is based on Jeff Pearlman’s nonfiction book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s. I grew up in Southern California and was glued to the TV during the 2000-2002 Championship-winning seasons, so this sounds like a fun and exciting series. It will be cool to see who they get to play the players!

Are you a Lakers fan? Does this sound like an interesting series to you?

NBC Making SERENDIPITY Series Adaptation From 2001 Movie

serendipity.jpg

NBC is making a series adaptation of the 2001 movie Serendipity. Don’t ask me why, I have no idea. The original film starred John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. Guy meets girl, they fall in love, girl gives guy basically no personal information, and says if they’re meant to be, they’ll find each other, and they write their names and phone numbers on a book and a five dollar bill, and part ways.

Can I also mention they are both in other relationships at the time? Garbage human beings. Anyway, years pass, and the guy is engaged to someone but can’t stop thinking about that chick he knew for one day (eye roll). She is also in a relationship, but just has to find that guy that could totally be a serial killer, or at the very least, a dirty rotten cheater. So they set off to find each other, and of course they do, serendipitously. Stupid.

But I oddly find a crapton of people who love this dumb, dumb movie. So this series is for them. The series is being written and executive produced by Jonny Umansky, who is really excited about it. Here’s what he had to say to Deadline about it:

“I’ve been madly in love with this movie for more than half my life. Never has the world needed a show like Serendipity more, and the love stories we have in store are big, bold and filled to the brim with whimsy and wonder.”

Good for this guy. He sounds like he will give it his all, and all those fans out there will love it. Are you a fan of Serendipity?

The film is written by The Fault in Our Stars director — and New Mutants writer — Josh Boone, and directed by director and Golden Globe-winning actor James Franco, of The Disaster Artist.

The film follows the love triangle of a photographer, a director, and an actress. Here’s the synopsis:

Both Terry and his best friend, Phil, fall under the spell of this beautiful woman. But they soon realize that the more time they spend with her, the more enigmatic she becomes. After years of sex, betrayal, and collateral damage, the three end up in a dangerous situation that leaves one of them fighting for his life.

James Wan Casts George Young as the Male Lead in His Mysterious Horror Film

james-wan-casts-george-young-as-the-male-lead-in-his-mysterious-horror-film-social.jpg

Director James Wan has cast actor George Young in his upcoming secret horror film project, which is tentatively titled Silvercup. Who’s George Young you ask? I don’t know. I’ve never seen anything that he’s been in. But he’s been in shows such as Containment and Grace.

Young will star opposite Annabelle Wallis in the film, and we still don’t have any story details to share with you. There are also no details on these characters. But we know that the film will be a hard-R thriller! Here’s what Wan previously had to say about it:

When previously talking about the series, Wan said:

“There’s been a bit of speculation as to what my next project is… all I’ll say is, I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets.”

Silvercup will mark Young’s first major movie role.

Jon Favreau Discusses THE MANDALORIAN Addresses Boba Fett and Honoring the Traditions of STAR WARS

A lot of Star Wars fans were blown away by the first trailer that was released for The Mandaorian this weekend. This series looks so freakin’ awesome! I especially love the heavy western-themed vibe that it has.

Some fans have been wondering if fan favorite character Boba Fett would be making an appearance in the series. Well, writer, producer, and showrunner Jon Favreau was asked about Boba Fett in an interview with with Good Morning America, and this is what he said:

“Boba Fett is not one of the all-new original characters…There’s a 30-year stretch of story time that hasn’t been explored at all, except in the extended universe.”

As you can see, he doesn’t confirm or deny that Boba Fett is in the series. He just avoids the question. It would be cool and interesting if Boba Fett ended up appearing in the series in some capacity. If he does, how would you like to see him utilized?

Favreau went on to talk about how he and Dave Filoni have been working hard on trying to honor the traditions of Star Wars as they’ve been developing the series. He also told Variety that the series would be released from week to week, one episode at a time. You aren’t going to be able to binge watch it the day it launches with Disney+.

“Dave Filoni and I, who are partnering on this, we’ve been working so hard to try to honor the traditions of Star Wars and try to present something we would be delighted to see, as fans. Because we started a while ago, it’s gonna be available, day one, on Disney+, on November [12th]. I think they’re going one episode at a time, but it will be there, premiering on the platform, so if you have it, you’ll get to see it,” Favreau concluded.

Form what you’ve seen from The Mandalorian so far, what is getting you most excited to watch it?

Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Earth Vs. Flying Saucers… these are all incredible classic films that featured the stop-motion work and creature designs of legendary artist and filmmaker Ray Harryhausen.

I grew up watching these films! I love these movies, and I was always fascinated by the creatures and monsters in them that Harryhausen brought to life! The skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts and from his Sinbad series, the Minaton from Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, and Medusa from Clash of the Titans. The onscreen visuals of these creatures played a big part of why I fell in love with movies.

Harryhausen’s work also inspired the likes of John Landis, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Peter Jackson. They’ve also said wonderful things about the artist and how he influenced them in their careers.

If you’re a fan of Harryhausen’s work as well, you’ll be happy to learn that many of these models that were created for these films have been restored and will go on display at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Ray Harryhausen: Titan of Cinema. This is going to be the largest and widest-ranging exhibition of Harryhausen’s work ever seen.

Marking the stop motion pioneer’s centenary, the models will join newly restored and previously unseen material from Harryhausen’s matchless collection and archive, from 23 May 2020.

Thanks to Creative Boom, you can see some photos of the restored creature models below!

Saban Films Pick Up Director Darren Lynn Bousman’s Horror Film DEATH OF ME

saban-films-pick-up-director-darren-lynn-bousmanshorror-film-death-of-me-social.jpg

Saban Films has picked up the distribution rights to director Darren Lynn Bousman’s new horror film Death of Me, which stars Maggie Q and Luke Hemsworth.

Bousman has directed a lot of horror movies in his career such as several Saw films (including the new one), Repo! The Genetic Opera, and The Devil’s Carnival. I’ve enjoyed watching many of his films, and this next one of his sounds like it’ll be good.

The story for the movie centers on “a couple on an exotic holiday who awaken one morning with a hangover and no recollection of what transpired. When playing back the video of their previous night, they learn they participated in a ritual that somehow ended with the husband murdering the wife — though she’s actually very much alive.”

Well, that sounds like fun! It’s like a satanic horror filled version of The Hangover. The movie was written by Ari Margolis, James Morley III, and David Tish, and Saban is looking to release it in 2020.
