KING RICHARD Director Reinaldo Marcus Green Set to Helm Bob Marley Biopic

Bob-Marley-in-1979.jpg

Paramount has found the director for their biopic about reggae music legend Bob Marley with Reinaldo Marcus Green. He has directed the films Monsters and Men and Joe Bell, as well as the Will Smith-led film King Richard, which tells the story of Venus and Serena Williams and their coach and father, Richard Williams, and is currently filming and set for a November release.

Marley passed away in 1981 from cancer, and left behind a legacy of music that has continued to live on through the generations. Ziggy Marley, Rita Marley, and Cedella Marley will produce on behalf of Tuff Gong. Robert Teitel will also produce.

Green said of the project:

“Bob Marley’s music lives on in all of us. His lyrics transcend continents, color, creed, and generations of people. It heals. It fights. It bleeds love and truth. It’s a true honor and privilege to work with Ziggy and the Marley Family, and Paramount Pictures to bring his story to life. Audiences want to know the real Bob, the man as well as the legend. I trust this film will bring us closer to understanding his journey, his music, and continue to carry the torch of his legacy with humility and grace, and most of all, love.”

This is an exciting movie to see getting made. I love Bob Marley, and I can’t wait to learn more about his life. Are you looking forward to the Marley biopic?

New About Endlessness Trailer From Acclaimed Director Roy Andersson

New About Endlessness Trailer From Acclaimed Director Roy Andersson

New About Endlessness trailer from acclaimed director Roy Andersson

Magnolia Pictures has revealed the new trailer for About Endlessness, the latest startling comedy/drama from acclaimed Swedish filmmaker Roy Andersson (Songs from the Second Floor, You, the Living, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence). Check out the About Endlessness trailer in the player below!

RELATED: About Endlessness Trailer: Roy Andersson Reflects on Human Life

About Endlessness is a reflection on human life in all its beauty and cruelty, its splendor and banality. We wander, dreamlike, gently guided by our Scheherazade-esque narrator. Inconsequential moments take on the same significance as historical events: a couple floats over a war-torn Cologne; on the way to a birthday party, a father stops to tie his daughter’s shoelaces in the pouring rain; teenage girls dance outside a cafe; a defeated army marches to a prisoner-of-war camp. Simultaneously an ode and a lament, ABOUT ENDLESSNESS presents a kaleidoscope of all that is eternally human, an infinite story of the vulnerability of existence.

The film was written and directed by Roy Andersson, produced by Johan Carlsson and Pernilla Sandström, and stars Martin Serner, Jessica Louthander, Tatiana Delaunay, Anders Hellström, Jan-Eje Ferling, Bengt Bergius and Thore Flygel.

Universal’s Long-Delayed F9 Gets Pushed Back Again to June

According to The Wrap, Universal Pictures has decided to change the release date of Justin Lin’s long-delayed ninth installment to the Fast & Furious film franchise. Originally set for a May 28, 2021 theatrical release, F9: The Fast Saga has been pushed back again for the fourth time and is now set to arrive on June 25, 2021. The new release date sees the Vin Diesel-led sequel going up against another high-profile project with Sony’s highly-anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

In addition, Universal has also delayed Illumination’s upcoming animated sequel, Minions: The Rise of Gru. Originally scheduled for a summer 2020 release, the film is now expected to be released on July 1, 2022.

In F9, Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena).

F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tbilisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

The film stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang, with Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Oscar winner Charlize Theron. F9 also features Grammy-winning superstar Cardi B as a new franchise character Leysa, a woman with a connection to Dom’s past, and a cameo by Reggaeton sensation Ozuna.

DC to Expand the Multiverse with INFINITE FRONTIER Summer Event

DC has announced the next big event for their superheroes called Infinite Frontier. The event was kicked off in the recent Infinite Frontier #0 (available from comic shops or comiXology (affiliate link) now) 64-page one-shot and will continue this summer. The new six-issue miniseries to come hails from Joshua Williamson and Xermanico featuring covers by Mitch Gerads as the DC Multiverse is explored further.

In this summer event, Alan Scott, the Green Lantern from the Justice Society of America, has noticed some of his allies are still missing in action, and he’s determined to find them. There are others, though, that would rather remain hidden than explain themselves, like Roy Harper, a.k.a. Arsenal, a man who should be dead now is not. Plus, what does all this mean for the DCU’s place in the Multiverse? On opposite sides of a dimensional divide, both Barry Allen and President Superman ponder this question. Not to mention the Darkseid of it all! Or a team of Multiversal heroes called Justice Incarnate!

Infinite Frontier #1 is set to release on June 22.

Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE Gets a New Trailer and Poster Focusing on Batman

zack-snyders-justice-league-gets-a-new-trailer-focusing-on-batman.jpg

HBO Max has released a new teaser trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and this one puts the spotlight on Ben Affleck’s Batman. The teaser includes some new footage from the film, and it also features voiceovers from various characters such as Lex Luthor, Martian Manhunter, and even Darkseid, who promises, “I will come for my great prize.”

Snyder also shared a new poster for the movie highlighting Ben Affleck’s Batman. I imagine that we’ll be getting more trailers and posters like this for the rest of the Justice League team leading up to the release of the movie on March 18th.

In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, “determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.

Fatherhood: Sony’s Kevin Hart-Led Drama Film Heads to Netflix

According to Deadline, Netflix and Sony Pictures have officially teamed up for a new licensing deal for the worldwide distribution rights to the upcoming drama film titled Fatherhood. Originally slated for an April 2021 theatrical release, the Kevin Hart-led feature is now set to make its debut on Netflix on June 18, just in time for Father’s Day. In addition, Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground Productions has also signed on to produce the project.

This project also marks the latest collaboration between Hart and Netflix after Hart’s HartBeat Productions signed an overall deal with the streamer earlier this year. However, Fatherhood won’t be part of this exclusive deal as it will be independently licensed.

Fatherhood is written and directed by Paul Weitz from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dana Stevens. It stars Kevin Hart (The Upside), Alfre Woodard (Cross Creek), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Anthony Carrigan (Barry), and Paul Reiser (Mad About You).

Pick up a copy of the memoir here!

Based on Matthew Logelin’s 2011 memoir titled Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love, the story follows Logelin as he and his daughter Madeline move to India for two months when his wife and her mother Liz and their experiences living in another state, along with Logelin’s struggles with solo parenting so early into Maddy’s life. Carrigan has signed on to star as Logelin’s quirky best friend.

Fatherhood is produced by Hart, Marty Bowen, David Beaubaire, and Peter Kiernan. It is executive produced by Betsy Danbury, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, Bryan Smiley, Jaclyn Huntling Swatt, Isaac Klausner, Channing Tatum, and Reid Carolin.

Lifetime had previously optioned the rights to the novel in 2012 for a television film adaptation, but nothing ever came of the project and now Sony Pictures has gained the rights to the project and have not only acquired Hart to star but have also signed on Paul Weitz (Mozart in the Jungle) to direct and rewrite a majority of Dana Stevens’ (City of Angels) screenplay.
