94th Academy Awards Set for March 2022, Former Eligibility Rules Return

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has found the date for the 94th annual Academy Awards ceremony, according to a new report from Deadline.

The 94th Academy Awards will be taking place on March 27, 2022, with nominations set to be revealed on Tuesday, February 8. According to Deadline’s report, the next Oscars will not be retaining the eligibility period that they had for 2021. Instead, the eligibility period will return to the standard December 31 deadline, resulting in a 10-month period instead of the extended 14-month period that the Academy opted for thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the award show will be earlier than it was in 2021, it’ll still be a bit later than fans of the show are used to watching it. This is because of a very unique circumstance that will see the Super Bowl being held in Los Angeles on February 6, and the Winter Olympics in Beijing running from February 4-20. According to the outlet, the logistics of running all three shows would simply be too much, forcing the Academy to push the 94th Academy Awards back as a result.

The 93rd Academy Awards saw major wins for some big films, including Nomadland taking home Best Picture, Chloe Zhao taking home the Oscar for Best Director, and a surprise Best Actor win for Anthony Hopkins. As theaters continue to open across the country and more movies prepare to launch throughout the year, the upcoming award show should have more than enough strong contenders despite a smaller eligibility period.

“Delighted that we’ve got three seasons,” said series showrunner and co-creator Simon Blackwell. “One more and it’s a pizza. I can’t wait to see what terrible and brilliant but let’s face it mainly terrible things will happen to the Worsley family in the next 10 episodes.”

Breeders explores the parental paradox that you’d happily die for your children, but quite often also want to kill them. Season 2 also starred Alex Eastwood, Eve Prenelle, Joanna Bacon, Alun Armstrong, and Stella Gonet.

“Through two seasons, we’ve watched ‘Paul,’ ‘Ally’ and their children grow as a family in ways that are reassuring and sometimes concerning,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX Entertainment. “Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard are brilliant as the flawed but devoted parents and we are glad that they, along with Simon Blackwell, Chris Addison, and the rest of the creative team and cast, are bringing the series back for a third season that will take us along for the next stage in this family’s journey.”

Breeders is produced by FX Productions, Avalon Television, and Sky Original Productions. Academy Award-nominee and double Emmy Award-winner Simon Blackwell (Veep, Peep Show, The Personal History of David Copperfield) is showrunner. The series is created by Blackwell, double Emmy Award and Directors Guild of America Award winner Chris Addison (Veep, The Thick of It, The Hustle), and Emmy and BAFTA-winning Martin Freeman (Fargo, Sherlock, Black Panther), who also stars alongside Daisy Haggard (Back to Life, Episodes, Black Mirror).

Dying Light 2 Gameplay Trailer Released, Out in December

Dying Light 2 Delayed With No New Release Date Set

Fans have been anxiously awaiting news regarding Dying Light 2, the second entry in Techland’s zombie apocalypse role-playing game. During a stream today focused on the game, the sequel was shown off even more and given a December 7, 2021 release date.

Now officially known as Dying Light 2 Stay Human, the sequel to the 2015 game has a much more expanded scope, bringing back many of its parkour and RPG gameplay elements into a world that’s much bigger, has many more choices for players to make, and includes tons of new environments and weapons to boot. During the “Dying 2 Know” stream, Techland detailed more of the game, alongside releasing a brand new trailer for the game that shows off much of the progress the game has gone through, including how events from the first game will set the stage for Dying Light 2 Stay Human.

In the sequel, players will take on the role of Aidan Caldwell, a resident of one of the last bastions of mankind after 98% of the population has been lost to the virus that has turned people into zombie-like creatures. As you search for answers to your own past secrets, players will meet new characters, including a handful of new factions that can help shape the city that you inhabit.

Alongside new characters and places to explore, new infected enemies are also present. Because the game takes place years after the original game, infected monsters have become mutated, resulting in much scarier and more dangerous foes to take on. Much like the original game, players will also have tons of decisions, with each of them being vital and having its own series of consequences.

Techland also announced a series of special editions along with the release date for Dying Light 2 Stay Human. There are three different retail editions of the game, including the regular game, a Digital Deluxe Pack, and a Collector’s Edition of the game that includes a concept art book, a Steelbook case for the game, a UV flashlight, and a statue that features Aidan Caldwell fighting off infected monsters.
