PS5 Digital Edition Console Revision Makes It Slightly Lighter

When the PlayStation 5 originally launched, one thing that immediately stuck out to fans was just how big the console was. Now, the PS5 Digital Edition is getting just a bit lighter.

According to a new safety guide user manual (as reported by PlayStation Universe) on the official Japanese PlayStation website, the PS5 Digital Edition has been slimmed down, with 10 ounces of total weight reportedly taken off the console. The Digital Edition now weighs 3.6 kg (8 lbs.), although the system itself likely looks the exact same as it did prior to the changes.

The safety guide also highlights a brand new screw that has been included in the PS5 Digital Edition for its stand feature. It’s unclear exactly what internal parts have changed to affect the weight of the console. With Sony has been having issues meeting the demand for the console, hopefully, this change can help speed up production.

Despite having trouble meeting demand, the PlayStation 5 continues to be one of the best-selling pieces of gaming hardware since its launch. As of March 2021, the system has moved nearly 8 million units, making it currently the best-selling console in the U.S.

Hasbro Unveils Pudgy Pig as the Next POWER RANGERS Monster Coming to the Lightning Collection

pr_lightning-pudgy_pig.jpg

Pudgy Pig has become one of the most iconic monsters from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I’m not sure why this is the case, but it is. Well, Hasbro has revealed the famous pig is coming to the Lightning Collection of figures during PulseCon later this year as a PulseCon exclusive. Pudgy Pig comes with an extra set of hands, his famous fork and knife, a taco, a pie, a plate of nachos, and a cool special effects piece. What will make this $45 figure even more worth it to many though is the special retro art box that the figure comes in. The box looks very similar to an old lunchbox and is sure to get collector’s to easily press that pre-order button on Hasbro Pulse when it becomes available.

Another note is that io9 lists the figure is in the 6” scale which has fans curious if he will be smaller than the other monsters like King Sphinx and Pumpkin Rapper and closer in size to the Rangers.

SNL’s Punkie Johnson and Ego Nwodim Join Anthology Series Love Life

Saturday Night Live cast members Punkie Johnson and Ego Nwodim have joined the cast of the HBO Max’s anthology series Love Life, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. The two SNL alums join a growing cast that includes Leslie Bibb, John Earl Jelks, Arian Moayed, Kimberly Elise, and Blair Underwood in some capacity.

Along the way, he’ll meet Jessica Williams’ (The Daily Show) Mia, the object of his affection. The cast also includes Chris “Comedian CP” Powell, Janet Hubert, Jordan Rock, and Maya Kazan. According to the report, Johnson will be a regular cast member and play Ida Watkins, Marcus’ outspoken sister who is much more in tune with her authentic self than her brother is. Nwodim will guest as Ola Adebayo, a playwright who seems like a perfect match for Marcus, but after getting together extremely fast, may realize they both aren’t really the right people for each other.

Konami Announces Three Yu-Gi-Oh! Video Games

Konami has played its hand and it’s full of three different Yu-Gi-Oh! games. While one, Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel, was previously revealed, it is now coming to the West. Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, on the other hand, are both new titles coming to a suite of different devices. All three titles showed up during the Yu-Gi-Oh! Digital Next presentation, which is at the bottom of the page.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel is supposed to come to the Nintendo Switch in Japan in August and will now release in the Americas and Europe sometime this fall. However, there is still no exact date of when that will be.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel is a mobile-only version of the popular card game and will support up to four players. But information is still slim as there is still no release date.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is the biggest title as it is console-focused game headed to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, and Android. This game uses the Master Rules of the official trading card game, making it the standout of the three. According to Senior Producer Kenichi Kataoka (through Gematsu), this will be the first game in the series to support 4K and will reportedly take advantage of the newest consoles. Kataoka said the team is trying to “keep a good balance between the presentation and the tempo of Duels” because it can sometimes be hard to get what is happening in some card games.

Two New OVERWATCH Books For The Fans Of Art and Stickers

Screenshot-167.jpg

Overwatch has become quite a cultural influencer. Two games, a vast set of special cinematics, books, toys, clothes, a gigantic professional league, and more have come from this one franchise. This month, we have two more books that cover different interests compared to their previous novels and comics. The Cinematic Art Of Overwatch: Volume 2 is a deeper dive into the lore, art direction, and pristinely printed images of the second half of Overwatch character cinematics. The second book, Overwatch Sticker Art Puzzles, is a large sticker book that has a lot of characters and some of their iconic skins. Both books are high quality and great for fans of the game.

The cinematics in Overwatch are always beautifully done, well written, and exciting. Having a deeper look into each short, its background, and its concepts are wonderful for those who love that kind of stuff. The book is huge and looks good on display. The images and paper quality are about as good as it can get for that price point. I do wish there was a bit more discussion and art from the early stages of the cinematics, meaning more looks into how and why these moments and movies were chosen to show the fans. But overall, it is a really beautiful piece to have in your collection.

Stickers can be lots of fun. A sticker puzzle with Overwatch characters can be perfect for the right kind of person, but this book definitely has a specific audience. That’s fine, but don’t plan on this being the perfect gift for just any Overwatch fan. The book is filled with pages of a variety of Overwatch characters, mostly a selected group of the original roster in their original costumes. Then, the new costume for each character is chopped up into stickers that are used to cover the original costume. Looking at the image above shows the process pretty clearly. It can be a lot of fun but requires a lot of precision and patience.

Check out the books at the Blizzard store and on Amazon.
