Elisabeth Moss Confirms Blumhouse Is Developing Sequel to THE INVISIBLE MAN

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse are looking to make a sequel to director Leigh Whannell’s 2020 horror film, The Invisible Man.

The star and producer of the original film, Elisabeth Moss, has confirmed in an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast that they are currently developing the project. She also said they are close to figuring it out.

Moss said: “Blumhouse and my production company [Love & Squalor Pictures]… we are closer than we ever have been to cracking it. And I feel very good about it.”

She added, “We are very much intent on continuing the story.”

When previously talking about the possible sequel, the actress said: “I can’t really say much, but it’s definitely not — it’s not necessariy in the rearview at all, but I do think that we have, with any sequel, you obviously want to make sure that you are doing the original justice.

“And so none of us involved have any intention of just cracking out another thing and throwing it up and just seeing what happens. We really want it to be as good, if not better, than the first one.”

I thought the first movie was surprisingly good! It was inspired by the classic H.G. Wells story. In the first film, after Moss’ character Cecilia Kass is trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, she escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister, their childhood friend, and his teenage daughter.

But when Cecilia’s abusive ex commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.
