Disney Confirms Jeff Bridges’ TRON: ARES Casting in New Set Photo

Jeff Bridges recently revealed that he will be reprising his role as Kevin Flynn in the upcoming film Tron: Ares. Today, Disney has officially confirmed that news with a new behind-the-scenes photo.

The photo features Bridges reading the script with a light suit helmet sitting in the background.

The Tron franchise launched with Bridges’ character, Kevin Flynn, a video game designer who ended up trapped in the digital world of “The Grid.”

He returned for Disney’s 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy, which followed Kevin’s son Sam (Garrett Hedlund), who ventured into The Grid to find his dad. There he found a war growing between Flynn’s AI Clu and the ISOs, naturally-occurring computer algorithms capable of solving world problems.

Flynn was seemingly killed in the process of stopping Clu, and Sam returned to the real world with a real version of Quorra (Olivia Wilde), the last surviving ISO who Flynn trained as his apprentice.

The film follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, “who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

The sequel is being directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon Tiki), and the cast is led by Jared Leto.

The movie also stars Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse), Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson.

Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne wrote the script. The film arrives in theaters on October 10, 2025.
