James Gunn Talks PEACEMAKER Season 2 and Says It’s Place in the DCU “Won’t Be Confusing”

James Gunn has been deep in development on Peacemaker Season 2. This is one of the many projects that he’s planning that he jumped back into right away after taking on the co-CEO role at DC Studios.

When asked by a fan on Threads why Peacemaker Season 2 was a priority for him, he said: “Because it’s my favorite thing to do, it’s the biggest original Max show ever, and I have a way in.” The filmmaker went on to address the whole new DCU thing, saying, “It won’t be confusing.”

When asked if Season 2 of the series will be “totally different” than the first season because of DC’s reboot, Gunn responded, “You’ll have to wait and see how that works out!”

There are no details on the story for Season 2, but Gunn teased his future cameo plans with the upcoming season, saying, “I think we’re going to see more connections in some other stuff as we move forward with Peacemaker and other shows at HBO Max. So those [cameos] will keep coming. I don’t know if the Justice League is going to show up in every season of Peacemaker; that might be a one-time thing. We’ll see!”

The series stars John Cena as Peacemaker, Steve Agee as Economos, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, and Freddie Stroma as Vigilante.
