There are a lot of great moments for fans to enjoy in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny as it takes audiences on one of Jones’ wildest and most far-out adventures. Yeah, Indiana Jones has been on some wild ride in his day searching for the Ark of the Covenant, facing off with the Thuggee cult, hunting the Holy Grail, and finding aliens.
So, what is Harrison Ford and James Mangold’s favorite moment in Dial of Destiny? They are asked that during an interview with GamesRadar, and this was Ford’s response:
“Waking up in 1969. I don’t want to explain what that means, but look for it in the movie, you’ll see what I mean. It’s a moment that has been purposefully crafted to really – it’s just great movie making, and I don’t want to describe it.”
Mangold agrees that this moment in the movie is something special explaining:
“We knew when we shot that scene – it was pretty early. We shot all the scenes in Indy’s apartment pretty early in the schedule. And I think both Harrison and I looked at each other and knew after we did a couple takes of that scene that Harrison is describing, and there’s just this moment where you go, ‘Oh, that’s the movie.’ It’s just some moment that you feel like everyone in the orchestra is harmonised, and this thing sounds and feels like what the whole thing has to feel like. And it gives you a kind of feather to hold on to as you march forward on the next 150 days of shooting this.”
Having seen the movie, I know exactly what they are talking about, and yes… there is meaning behind it and it definitely sets up the rest of the story and where Indiana Jones is at in his life.
The movie was a nice sendoff to Indiana Jones, but it’s not good of an ending as The Last Crusade. That was just a perfect ending for Jones. But, Dial of Destiny definitely does wrap some things up for the character after what happened in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The movie is set in 1969 during the Space Race, with Indiana Jones being pulled into another grand adventure, which involves Voller, a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the Moon landing program, who wants to “rectify the world and make it into a better place as he sees fit.” He’s looking to correct the mistakes that Hitler made when he was in power with the Dial of Destiney artifact.
The film is now in theaters, so go watch it! I’m really curious to see what fans think of this one. I hope that people enjoy it!
