Celebrate The Anniversary Of GODZILLA With New GODZILLA Hot Wheels Car

Godzilla is a huge cultural icon that has been destroying cities and fighting kaiju since the first film released on November 3, 1954. Now Hot Wheels is taking on the monster in collaboration with Toho, International and Mattel.

Based on the Japanese HINO heavy construction truck, the 6 wheel junk hauler was inspired by all the destruction Godzilla has caused over the years. The junk in the back resembles his dorsal fins while the cab features a glaring brow and vicious teeth. The rear of the vehicle is a massive tow hook meant to resemble Godzilla’s tail.

The number on the side is the date that the first Godzilla movie released and the markings on the side is katakana for Godzilla. The new car will be available exclusively at Target for $3.99 in November. The same design will also be available as a Hot Wheels Monster truck early next year.

I think the car overall looks great, but I would have liked to see a little more color. I know Godzilla isn’t exactly a rainbow of colors, but I think some kind of coloration in the mouth to represent his atomic breath would have been cool. What do you think, do you like this new Hot Wheels car?
