Birds of Prey star Mary Elizabeth Winstead is teaming up with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Xochitl Gomez for a new sci-fi film project titled Ursa Major. The movie comes from sibling directors Jonathan and Josh Baker, who previously helmed Kin.
Winstead and Gomez will take on the roles of Charlie and Natalie, a “mother and daughter fighting for survival on an Earth-like planet, hiding from a group of relentless hunters with the added threat of an imminent and deadly storm approaches. But Natalie, now a teenager, has begun to question her mother’s decisions, her explanation of who there are, how they got here and what they need to do to survive.”
Sounds like an interesting story that will make for a great film. The original script was written by Patrick Somerville (Station Eleven) along with Colleen O’Brien and Katie French. Somerville will also produce the film.
There’s some solid talent attached to this film, and as a fan of Winstead and her film work, I’ll definitely be looking forward to watching this sci-fi movie!
