Ethan Hawke Tells a Scary Story About The Grabber in Featurette For THE BLACK PHONE Horror Film

Universal Pictures has released a new featurette for director Scott Derrickson’s awesomely terrifying horror film, The Black Phone. Ethan Hawke plays the sinister villain in the story, who’s known as The Grabber, and in this video, he tells you the scary story about this evil monster. He also explains that this movie was the right time for him to go to the dark side. The video also features plenty of footage from the film!

The movie tells the story of Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, who “is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.”

I had the opportunity to see this movie at CinemaCon, and I freakin’ loved it! This film told such a great and intense story, and it’s the kind of film that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. It does an awesome job delivering the thrills and chills. Hawke explains in the video that “being scared out of your mind is what the film is about.” So, get ready for a creepy good time!

You can watch our video reaction of the film here. Hawke is joined by Mason Thames in his first-ever film role, and Madeleine McGraw as Gwen in the movie, and it’s set to hit theaters on June 24th, 2022.
