Disney Defends OBI-WAN KENOBI Star Moses Ingram After a Barrage of Online Bullying

I’ve noticed that Obi-Wan Kenobi star Moses Ingram, who plays the Inquisitor Reva in the series, has been getting a lot of online hate. When she took the role, she was actually warned by Lucasfilm and Disney that this would happen. She told The Independent:

“It was something that Lucasfilm actually got in front of, and said, ‘This is a thing that, unfortunately, likely will happen. But we are here to help you; you can let us know when it happens.'”

The actor recently took to her Instagram Story where she opened up about the abusive messages she has been receiving, saying, “Long story short, there are hundreds of those. Hundreds.” Not long after that, Disney released a statement defending the actress saying:

“We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist.”

A follow-up tweet that was shared added:

“There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be a racist.”

Ingram also talked about how Obi-Wan Kenobi was going to introduce even more diversity to the franchise saying:

“Obi-Wan is going to bring the most diversity I think we’ve ever seen in the galaxy before. To me, it’s long overdue. If you’ve got talking droids and aliens, but no people of color, it doesn’t make any sense. It’s 2022, you know. So we’re just at the beginning of that change. But I think to start that change is better than never having started it.”

I don’t quite understand the hate because I actually liked her in the role as the completely unhinged third sister. I said in my review, “Ingram is freakin’ fantastic in this role, and she’s absolutely menacing! She is an Inquisitor that is off the hinges, and she makes for a great villain! I wasn’t expecting to love this character so much, but she’s so fascinating and so sinister! It’s hard not to like her!”

I’m looking forward to seeing how her story arc plays out and what her relationship is like with Darth Vader.
