Now that months have passed since Avengers: Endgame was released in theatres, we are getting to hear and see lots of the goings on from behind the scenes, and finding out what went into making the film that broke all the records, wrapped up some major storylines, and turned out so dang good. In a recent interview with Canada.com, Endgame writer Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely spoke out about a scene that was originally written quite differently from what we ended up seeing in the film.

In the interview, the guys were asked what the best idea they had was, that didn’t get used. McFeely hilariously replied, “It’s three hours, so it seems like we used everything.” It’s funny, but it’s also kinda true, and also kind of awesome that the film had the freedom to tell the whole story, and not edit anything deemed important. But Markus went on to describe one scene that was originally written totally differently:

At one point, we had a different way of getting to the Time Stone which involved some characters breaking into (Doctor Strange’s) Sanctum Sanctorum and being pursued by all the weird stuff that happens to be trapped inside there. It was totally off story and unnecessary and it got cut, but it was fun to write.

While the scene with Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) ended up being a perfect scene that was super important to the story, I can’t help but want to see the guys trip around the Sanctum Sanctorum and get into trouble and adventure in there. I wouldn’t change the movie, but I wish they had shot that scene so we could see it! Would you like to see that scene play out?
