The DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Movie To Be Directed By The Writing Team of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

It looks like Paramount Pictures has found the new directors for their Dungeons & Dragons movie! Earlier this year it was reported that Chris McKay dropped out of the project, now Deadline is reporting that Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are in discussions to helm the film, which is also being produced by Hasbro’s AllSpark Pictures.

Goldstein and Daley most recently directed the hilarious comedy Game Night. They also directed Vacation and wrote the script for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. The two were recently attached to direct The Flash for DC, but they ended up exiting that due to creative differences.

The script for the D&D movie comes from Michael Gillio and apparently that script has “studio execs absolutely buzzing.” The studio is also looking at casting a big A-list star in the lead role. Some of the names previously mentioned who are wanted for the film include Will Smith, Josh Brolin, Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Matthew McConaughey, Jamie Foxx, Joel Edgerton, Dave Bautista, Jeremy Renner, and Johnny Depp

There’s no information on what kind of story the film will tell, but with a property like Dungeons and Dragons, the sky’s the limit and it has potential to be an epic fantasy adventure! This could be bigger than The Lord of the Rings if they want it to be!

I like the work that I’ve seen from Goldstein and Francis Daley, but this would be a massive film project for them to take on. They’ve never done anything like this before, the scale of it is huge, but if they do end up directing it, I’ll be looking forward to seeing how they handle bringing this property to the big screen.

The current release date for Dungeons & Dragons is November 19, 2021. What do you think about Goldstein and Daley directing the D&D movie?
