For those of you Saved By The Bell fans who are excited about the upcoming revival, you’ll be happy to learn that the series will premiere on the Peacock streaming service in just two months. Bayside High School will be opening its doors on Wednesday, November 25th, and a little promo was released to announce the date.
Every single episode of the first season is expected to drop on the premiere date. The new series centers on the new millennium’s class and at the start of it, “a number of kids from underfunded high school whose doors Governor Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) closed end up at Bayside, giving the privileged preppies that roam those halls a new reality check.”
Some of the other original cast members joining the show include Mario Lopez as AC Slater and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren as Jessie Spano. Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen will guest star as Zack and Kelly Morris, respectively.
The new cast includes John Michael Higgens as Principal Toddman, Belmont Cameli as Jamie Spano, Dexter Darden as Devante, Mitchell Hoog as Mac Morris, Alycia Pascual-Peña as Aisha, Josie Totah as Lexi, and Haskiri Velazquez as Daisy.
Tracey Wigfield serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer for the series. When talking about Wigfield and what she has done with the new series, Gosselear previously said:
I think that Tracey [Wigfield, showrunner] and the writers have done a very good job of staying true to the characters that we portrayed in the past while also moving them into the future and also coming up with a guideline or a blueprint that still works. I feel like the character that I’m playing is not the same Zack Morris but a heightened version of him. I think what you can see from the trailer [is] that the characters are larger than life; they’re a little more animated than we were back in the ’80s and ’90s. And I think it’s a fun version.
Fans seem to like what they’ve seen in the trailer for the series and I think this is going to be something that they’ll enjoy. I used to watch the original Saved By The Bell all the time and it will be fun to see what these characters are up to all these years later.
