Back to the Future and Transformers have come together in a mashup I don’t know that anyone knew they wanted. The two brands have collaborated to create a new character named Gigawatt, a time-traveling Autobot. At first glance, Gigawatt just looks like the unassuming DeLorean that Doc Brown turned into a time machine, but fans may soon notice that the car can transform into a time machine robot.
The Gigawatt figure will stand 5.5 inches tall in Robot mode and can turn into the classic car in 17 steps. The figure will also come with a blaster and whip antenna. Fans can pre-order Gigawatt now from Walmart. There will be 1,985 pieces that come with exclusive, limited edition numbered packaging to honor the 35th anniversary of the release of Back to the Future. Another variant will be released on October 1.
In addition to the figure, Hasbro also revealed that IDW will be releasing a 4-part comic series called Transformers/Back to the Future.
Marty McFly has just returned to his home sweet home, Hill Valley 1985, and everything’s looking up… that is, until Marty and his friend Doc Brown’s time machine attracts the attention of the Decepticons! With one small mistake, Marty finds himself thrust into adventure to stop the Decepticon plot in the past, present, and future… all with the help of a new time machine: the Autobot, Gigawatt!
