Worms is a popular gaming franchise where players use ridiculous weapons to destroy each other. Now, a new entry has been revealed called Worms Rumble from Team17. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure how I feel about this entry. It looks great. However, it’s introducing real-time combat into the franchise and will feature a battle royale mode. There is still a deathmatch mode and there is crossplay (the game is launching on PC, PS4, and PS5) which sound great, but one of the charms of Worms was the turn-based combat. Personally, I think I wouldn’t mind so much if the deathmatch mode maintained the turn-based combat, but it sounds like both modes will feature the real-time combat.
Of course, I guess I can see how well it actually works and feels. In fact, you can too. Fans can actually sign up to potentially participate in a closed beta for Worms Rumble on PC. The beta will run from July 15 @12PM BST through July 20 at 8AM BST. In all honesty, I’m excited to see more Worms, I’m not stoked for the new features though. Hopefully, I’ll be proven wrong.
