STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is Coming To Disney+ on Star Wars Day

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final film in the latest Star Wars trilogy, is coming to Disney+ on Star Wars Day, which is May 4th.

While this may excite some Story Wars fans, I know a lot of other fans that probably won’t really care about this news. The Rise of Skywalker isn’t the kind of film you want to watch over and over again. For me, every time I watch it, it just gets worse and worse. It’s sad because that’s how the end of the Skywalker saga should have gone down! It’s a film that should get better and better every time we watch it! Maybe it is for some of you.

So if you subscribe to Disney+, you will be able to watch The Rise of Skywalker all you want if that’s what you want. Here’s the press release with all of the details:

The final chapter of the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, will begin streaming two months early on Disney+ in honor of ‘May the 4th,’ affectionately known by fans around the world as ‘Star Wars Day.’ For the first time ever, fans will be able to stream the complete Skywalker saga all in one place. What began in 1977 with George Lucas’ groundbreaking film ‘Star Wars: A New Hope,’ the nine-part saga is available within Disney+’s extensive collection of Star Wars movies and series including The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams joined forces once again to deliver Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the thrilling climactic chapter in the Skywalker saga, bringing the heroic struggle to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy to an epic, resounding conclusion.   

The film stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams and Michelle Rejwan. Callum Greene, Tommy Gormley and Jason McGatlin serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Chris Terrio and Abrams and the story is by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow and J.J. Abrams & Chris Terrio, based on characters created by George Lucas.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker joins Disney+’s May the 4th line-up including the premiere of the eight-episode documentary series Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, and the series finale of the award-winning animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
