Video Explains Why THE WIRE is One of the Most Brilliant TV Shows Ever Made

There are a lot of people out there that still have yet to witness the greatness of HBO’s The Wire. This is one of my favorite shows of all time and for some reason, no matter how much I recommend it to some people, they still won’t watch the damn thing and it confuses the hell out of me.

If you are one of those people that haven’t seen The Wire yet, please take the time to watch it. The show is absolutely incredible and I promise you that once you start, you won’t be able to stop.

If you need more persuasion, though, I’ve got a video essay here for you to watch that explains why The Wire is one of the most brilliant and significant TV shows ever created. The video dives into the creators of the show and the techniques that they used that make is so great.

‘The Wire is not a cop show. There isn’t a simple good guy-bad guy dichotomy. We’re introduced to bad police doing the right things for the wrong reasons and gang members who seem to have just as much heart as many of those on the side of the law. Evil is not easily rooted out. We can barely tell who isn’t tainted by malevolence. The audience cannot root for order to be restored, because order itself is corrupt.”

Watch the video below and let us know what your thoughts on The Wire are. Do you think it’s a brilliant show or do you think it’s overrated?
