Lupita Nyong’o to Star in a Sci-Fi Comedy That Is a Mix of MEN IN BLACK and MISS CONGENIALITY

Universal Pictures has picked up a new sci-fi comedy movie that was pitched to them under the title Miss Universe, but that won’t be the title of the film. The movie will star Black Panther actress Lupita Nyong’o, and she will re-team with writer and director Abe Forsythe who previously directed Nyong’o in the zombie film Little Monsters.

There are no story details to share for the film yet, but it is described as being a mix of the films Men In Black and Miss Congeniality.

Nyong’o is a great actress, and I’m sure that this will be a fun project for her to be a part of. I had a chance to see Little Monsters at Sundance this year, and while Nyong’o gave a great performance, the movie itself wasn’t really that good. Don’t get me wrong, it had some fun moments, but it could’ve been better had they handled certain characters and story elements differently.

Maybe this upcoming sci-fi comedy will end up being better than that.

Trailer for the Horror Thriller HALLOWED GROUND Puts a Couple in the Middle of a Blood Feud

We’ve got a trailer to share with you for a new horror thriller called Hallowed Ground, which comes from director Miles Doleac (The HistorianThe HollowDemons).

The film is described as being “in the tradition of The Green Inferno and Deliverance.” The story follows a married couple (Lindsay Anne Williams and Sherri Eakin), “trying to rebuild their relationship after an affair, travels to a secluded cabin and stumbles into a blood feud between the Native American owners of the property and the neighboring clan, who obsessively guard their land and punish those who trespass on it in terrifying ways.”

As you’ll see in the trailer, this looks like a crazy extreme, cult-ish, and masochistic kind of film. If you’re into this kind of stuff, then maybe this will be something you’ll enjoy.

The movie also stars Ritchie MontgomeryLindsay Anne WilliamsSherri EakinMiles DoleacJeremy Sande, and Cotton Yancey.

Hallowed Ground will be released on June 7th.

THE GILDED AGE From Downton Abbey Creator Julian Fellowes Moves From NBC to HBO

The Gilded Age, a series set in 1885 by creator Julian Fellowes, who brought us the incredible Downton Abbey, was all set to air on NBC this spring, but has now been moved over to HBO. The cable company has not yet made it clear when we will see the series, but HBO’s president of programming, Casey Bloys, had this to say about it:

“Given the opulent scope and scale of this richly textured character drama, HBO is the perfect home for ‘The Gilded Age’. We’re all huge fans of Julian and I know I speak for Bob Greenblatt — who was involved in the development of this series while at Universal Television — when I say we’re thrilled to bring his undeniable genius to our viewers.”

Variety reports the following about the series. “Set in New York in the 1880s, The Gilded Age tells the story of a new-money family trying to join the ranks of the Astors and Vanderbilts.” This limited information makes the series sound like it could be super riveting or kind of boring, but so did the synopsis for Downton Abbey, and it was such a fantastic show, so I am super excited for this series to come together. And I think HBO is a great home for a series so grand.

Were you a Downton Abbey fan? Are you excited to see a new series by the same talented creator?

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Recap

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Recap

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Recap

In the previous episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones, the Army of the Dead attacked Winterfell, and Arya killed the Night King. In Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4, after a brief celebration, Daenerys set her sight on King’s Landing.

Mourning and Celebration

After a speech from Jon, the remaining leaders burned the bodies of those who fell during the Battle of Winterfell. The feast afterwards seemed somber until Daenerys declared Gendry Lord of Storm’s End. He rushed to find Arya and proposed to her, but she declined since she was never a lady.

Sansa and the Hound addressed their history. The Hound told her that she would have never gone through what she had with Littlefinger and Ramsay if she had left with him. Sansa admitted that those experiences helped her grow out of her naivety.

During a drinking game, Tyrion accused Brienne of being a virgin, and Brienne left for her room. Jaime followed her, much to Tormund’s dismay. Brienne and Jaime slept together.

Truth and Promises

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Recap

Daenerys went to Jon’s room. She urged him to keep his true parentage a secret, so they could be together. In the war room, the leaders of Daenerys’s various troops reported on the state of their armies for the upcoming move on King’s Landing. Sansa recommended waiting until the troops healed up. However, Daenerys didn’t want to waste time for Cersei to get stronger. Jon would take the allied troops down the Kingsroad while Daenerys and her armies sailed down to Dragonstone to start the siege on King’s Landing.

While Tyrion and Jaime were alone together, Bronn approached them armed with the crossbow from Cersei. Since she had promised Bronn Riverrun in exchange for killing her brothers, Tyrion promised him Highgarden if they won.

Despite promising Daenerys, Jon let Bran tell Sansa and Arya the truth while they were in the Godswood. As the armies moved out of Winterfell and everyone said their goodbyes, Sansa told Tyrion about Jon’s parentage, and he told Varys. Arya left with the Hound, separate from Jon and the allied armies.

Treason

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Recap

After learning about Jon’s parentage, Tyrion and Varys discussed what to do with this new information. Tyrion still wanted to believe in Daenerys, but Varys sensed that her desperation for the throne could threaten the lives of the people. Tyrion thought that marrying Jon and Daenerys would be a good option since they loved each other anyway. Varys feared that Daenerys would overpower him. He believed Jon would be the best leader for Westeros since he didn’t want to rule and the people believed in him. Most importantly, Jon had the stronger claim, and Daenerys understood that.

Dracarys

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 Recap

The siege on King’s Landing didn’t go as planned. Qyburn had upgraded his scorpions and fitted Euron’s fleet with them. They killed Rhaegal, sunk Daenerys’s ships, and captured Missandei. After Jaime found out, he left Winterfell for King’s Landing. Cersei let the people of King’s Landing into the Red Keep to prevent Daenerys from burning it down.

Tyrion and Qyburn, the two Hands, met to discuss terms. Daenerys demanded Cersei’s surrender and Missandei’s release. Cersei demanded Daenerys’s surrender or else Missandei would die. Tyrion appealed to Cersei and her love for her children directly. The Mountain executed Missandei, whose last words were, “Dracarys,” seemingly a request for Daenerys to burn the city down.

Every Aaron Sorkin Movie Ranked

Every Aaron Sorkin movie ranked

ComingSoon.net is counting down our ranking of the films of Aaron Sorkin, the man responsible for all kinds of classic dramas as well as the ever-popular television shows The West Wing and The Newsroom. Check out our choices in the gallery below!

A scriptwriter whose work has splayed itself across film, television, and stage, Aaron Sorkin has almost single-handedly invented a genre. His characters deliver captivatingly overwritten monologues full of sharp wit and finely-tuned points, immersed in stories of success and failure and the relationship between the two. Sorkin’s films and television shows paint the world as a place where good intentions alway trump the bad guys, and coming together as one will always be the solution instead of staying divided over our differences.

All of these sentiments are fine on-screen, but they’ve had serious real-world consequences over the past couple of decades since Sorkin first rose to notability. Many politicians and commentators take Sorkin’s tropes as fact, trying and failing to implement them into America’s political system. With all this in mind, let’s take a look at everything Sorkin’s done so far.

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 20 Recap

This week’s Supergirl Season 4 Episode 20 sends Kara and Lena to Kaznia in order to uncover what Lex is up to. Meanwhile, Alex gets a call about a potential adoption, taking Kelly with her for moral support. With Haley in D.C. attempting to get Lockwood’s DEO clearance revoked, that leaves Brainy to hold down the fort as Lockwood takes his crusade against aliens to the next level.

Motherhood and Other Complications

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 20 Recap

Alex gets a call from the adoption agency. A 17 year old girl is going into labor. She kept her pregnancy a secret, so the standard protocols and timelines are tossed out the window. Alex has 12 hours to make it to the hospital where the baby will be born and adopt the child or not. Alex is terrified that she won’t be a good parent and that in spite of her own upbringing, that there’s no way she can handle motherhood on her own right now. Kelly goes along with Alex and advises her to listen to her heart and decide what to do.

Alex decides to adopt the child. She gets excited, looking at jogging strollers online and getting ready to be a mother. However, the birth mother changes her mind. At the last minute, she decides to keep the child, sending Alex into a spiral of pain and grief over breaking off her relationship with Maggie over the topic of adopting a child. Kelly shares her own pain over the loss of her fiance. Kelly helps Alex understand that while this hurts now, that hurt will fade and there will be more chances at love and at a family.

Fatherhood and Justice

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 20 Recap

George speaks at his mother’s funeral when his father gets up and walks out. At the DEO, Lockwood and his men go through Haley’s files, uncovering that Lena has been working out of a lab at the DEO. There, Lockwood discovers the raw Harun-El serum. Brainy explains that the dose James received that gave him his powers was precisely calibrated from a refined formula. The raw Harun-El would likely kill anyone injected with it.

The DEO gets a location on the alien that killed Lockwood’s wife. He and his men raid the safe house and arrest the murderer. Lockwood orders the rest of the aliens rounded up for interrogation on the grounds that they were harboring a killer. Brainy protests, stating that Lockwood is attempting to circumvent the Constitution in his crusade. The DEO agents stand down.

James and Dreamer arrive from the Fortress of Solitude, where they have been testing the limits of James’s powers. Lockwood injects himself with the Harun-El, overcoming the pair and Brainy. J’onn arrives and defeats Lockwood, warning Lockwood that he is setting himself up for his own ruin. When Lockwood tries to explain himself to George, his son tells Lockwood that all that has transpired, including the death of their wife and mother, is Lockwood’s fault.

Clones, Copies, and Secret Identities

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 20 Recap

Lena and Kara are shot out of the skies above Kaznia. Arriving at Lex’s military base, they discover that someone in the president’s staff has been moving DEO prisoners to Kaznia for Lex to experiment upon. Lex appears to be using Red Daughter to plan and eventually execute a Kaznian invasion of the United States. The two are tripped up by Eve, who confounds and confronts them as they attempt to escape the facility before it explodes.

During the escape, Kara learns that Lex and Red Daughter know that Kara is Supergirl. Kara is also confronted with the possibility that if not for her own upbringing after landing on earth that she, too, could just as easily been manipulated into being a weapon. On the flight home, Kara is about to reveal herself to Lena, but doesn’t because Lena is still reeling from Eve’s duplicity and betrayal.

Kara takes what she has learned to the president. A hunk of kryptonite sits on his desk, in case Supergirl returns. He takes the evidence from Kara and files it away in an empty drawer. The president presses a button on his desk and an unseen assailant slips a hood over Kara’s head.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME Already Breaks The $2 Billion Mark, Chris Evans Shares a BTS Photo, and New TV Spot

Avengers: Endgame continues to blow up at the box off and with its current $2.18 billion worldwide take at the box office, the film has sunk James Cameron’s Titanic and takes the number two spot of highest grossing film of all time. It did that in less than two weeks! Yeah, I have a felling that this is going to beat out Avatar and take the number one spot. We’ll just have to wait and see, but it sure is looking good!

I also included a behind-the-scenes photo from the film that was shared by actor Chris Evans along with a new TV spot. If you haven’t seen the movie yet…

The BTS features Captain America standing alongside Black Panther during the epic final battle of the film. It’s a pretty cool shot!

Below I also shared a new TV spot for the film and it includes footage of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts in their armor fighting alongside each other. It also includes footage of that great scene where Captain America fights himself in 2012 during the Battle of New York.
