Netflix releases poster and trailer for Rim of the World

Netflix has released both the poster and the trailer for its upcoming adventure film Rim of the World, which centers on an alien invasion that interrupts an otherwise normal summer camp vacation. You can check out both below!

In Rim of the World, activities at summer camp have barely begun when four misfit teenagers find they’ve got bigger problems to face than learning how to canoe and climb ropes when aliens suddenly invade the planet. Alone in a campground once teeming with people, the kids are unexpectedly entrusted with a key that carries the secret to stopping the invasion. Without any adults or electronics to help guide the way, it’s clear what they must do: band together, conquer their fears, and save the world.

The Writers of AVENGERS: ENDGAME Disagree with The Directors About Captain America’s Timeline

An interesting disagreement regarding a certain aspect of Avengers: Endgame has popped up between writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directors Anthony and Joe Russo.

This disagreement involves an element of Captain America’s story arc and timeline in the film, and if you haven’t seen the movie yet, you won’t want to read ahead.

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America travels through time and space thanks to the Quantum Realm to return the Infinity Stones and instead of coming back, he goes back to make a life with Peggy Carter and live it to its fullest.

Here’s what the directors previously said about this aspect of the story:

“If Cap were to go back into the past and live there, he would create a branched reality. The question then becomes, how is he back in this reality to give the shield away?

“Interesting question, right? Maybe there’s a story there. There’s a lot of layers built into this movie and we spent three years thinking through it, so it’s fun to talk about it and hopefully fill in holes for people so they understand what we’re thinking.”

They also said:

“For example, the old Cap at the end movie, he lived his married life in a different universe from the main one. He had to make another jump back to the main universe at the end to give the shield to Sam.”

So they are saying that Cap was in an alternate universe this whole time. But the writers do not agree with that. They believe that Steve Rogers was in the actual timeline in the real MCU and not an alternate one in another reality. This is what Markus had to say in an interview with Fandango:

“That is our theory. We are not experts on time travel, but the Ancient One specifically states that when you take an Infinity Stone out of a timeline it creates a new timeline. So Steve going back and just being there would not create a new timeline. So I reject the ‘Steve is in an alternate reality’ theory.

I do believe that there is simply a period in world history from about ’48 to now where there are two Steve Rogers. And anyway, for a large chunk of that one of them is frozen in ice. So it’s not like they’d be running into each other.”

So that’s interesting! I’m curious to know why the writers and the directors aren’t on the same page with each other on this. You’d think they would be after all the time that they spent on developing these films together. Obviously, something wrong or different happened if there is now a multiverse!

The big question that fans want to know is if the stories of this time where Steve was with Peggy in the past will be told in the form of a film or series in the future.

Who do you side with on the matter? The writers or the directors?

George R.R. Martin says Game of Thrones spin-offs are moving along

Author George R.R. Martin has given an update on two of the Game of Thrones spin-offs currently in development at HBO — although he really doesn’t like the term spin-offs.

In a post on his popular LiveJournal page titled “Stuff and Nonsense,” Martin wrote that “internet reports are notoriously unreliable. We have had five different Game of Thrones successor shows in development (I mislike the term “spinoffs”) at HBO, and three of them are still moving forward nicely.

He also mentioned that his history on the Targaryens, Fire & Blood, is back on the NYT top-10 best-seller list after a brief relapse at number 12, which he teases could be relevant to the plot of one of the spin-offs successor shows.

The one I am not supposed to call The Long Night will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories,” Martin added.

The series he’s not supposed to call The Long Night was already greenlit by HBO, and is set 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse have been cast in the prequel series. S.J. Clarkson (The DefendersJessica Jones) will direct the pilot.

Young Marvel Fangirl with Tourette Syndrome Kicked Out of AVENGERS: ENDGAME Screening Because People Suck

Seriously… what is wrong with people? A lot of hardcore Marvel fans had the opportunity to see Avengers: Endgame on opening weekend. Fans have been waiting to see this movie for years including 15-year old Emily Womack, who grew up with these films in her life!

Unfortunately, Emily didn’t get a chance to see the movie with everyone else. You see, Emily has Tourette Syndrome and before the movie even started audiences members started complaining and had the movie theater manager kick her and her mom and dad out of the screening.

This kind of stuff infuriates me! This is the moment that people should be able to shine and be their best selves! That’s the whole message behind these films! To inspire people to be better and be heroes! Instead of embracing this young fan with this handicap that she has to deal with every day of her life, audiences members complain and have her removed from the theater.

The thing is she can control it and she wouldn’t have made any sounds during the movie, but no one even gave her chance! In the video below she explains:

“Today I went to go see the movie premiere for Avengers: Endgame with my mom and my dad. They wanted to take me to it because they know I’ve wanted to see it since Infinity War, because once again I love Marvel, and also wanted to know what happened to Peter Parker because I love him.

“I have the ability to suppress my tics. I scream and I move around a lot and I twitch my eyes and things like that, but I do have the ability to hold it back when necessary but it hurts, especially over long periods of time so if I don’t have to I try not to. A movie like the Avengers is usually like 2 hours, 3 hours long and in order to watch the movie I was releasing my tics before the movie started during the previews so that during the movie I wouldn’t be ticing because I like to enjoy the movie too. I don’t want to scream. I understand that it would be hard to watch a movie like that.”

Let me point something out to you here. It hurts for her to hold her Tourette back. She would have to sit through the movie for three hours in pain so that the rest of the audience would have enjoyed the movie. She would have been in pain to ensure that the other audience members would have had an enjoyable experience. That’s the sign of a REAL hero right there.

They never gave her a chance to see the movie, though. They weren’t human enough to offer Emily any kind of courtesy. A bunch of asshats instead decided to ruin this young teen’s experience by preventing her from seeing the movie. Instead of stepping up to the plate and being decent human beings like she is, they have her kicked out. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

Emily went on to say:

“The theater, the manager of the theater came and they tapped my mom on the shoulder and they were like ‘hey, come talk to me’. They had told my parents that people were complaining about me. The movie hadn’t started. There were previews of like underwear and stuff like that. I guess they asked if we could leave and if we didn’t leave then anyone who complained they have to give the people in the theater free tickets if I didn’t leave.”

“I understand, I just, I understand that during a movie people don’t want to hear me tic like that, but I wish you would’ve given me a chance before coming and asking me to leave the theater automatically get more embarrassed and I feel so judged whenever people are like ‘okay, we want you gone.’ The movie hadn’t even started yet. They’re advertising underwear on the screen. It hurts, and so they want me gone, so okay, I don’t feel comfortable anymore being in a theater where everyone’s there like ‘why is she here, and my Tourettes automatically gets worse whenever it’s brought to my attention and whenever I’m in an uncomfortable situation, so I’d appreciate it if in the future somebody could talk to my parents or talk to me before going to a manager or if the manager could’ve waited until the movie had started. I wasn’t going to tic during the movie. I can suppress these things. I wasn’t even given the chance to watch a movie. I didn’t get one second in before they asked me to go, and I’ve been waiting for this movie.”

Emily is using this unfortunate incident to bring awareness to others who are struggling with Tourettes and how to treat people in general. Emily’s mom, Tina, said:

“Unfortunately, this incident wasn’t out of the ordinary for us. Normal, everyday things like shopping, eating out become tasks with potential frustrations like staring, giggling, and whispers. The most hurtful thing, for Emily, is when adults call her names. Some have gone as far as to suggest that there was a crow or some other loud squawking bird loose in the store. We hope that sharing Emily’s experience will open a dialogue about Tourette’s and bring some awareness for everyone who has been through similar experiences.”

What is wrong with people!? This is the kind of stuff that just makes my heart and soul hurt. Have these “so-called” fans learned nothing from these movies!? This is a shame, but Emily is showing that she is the bigger person in all of this and turning her awful experience into something positive.

You can learn more about Tourette Syndrome from the Tourette Association of America and you can also take the pledge to stop using Tourettes as a punchline and help make a change right here.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME Writers Think a Captain America and Peggy Carter Film or Series is a Possibility

For those of you wondering if there could be a series of adventures that include Captain America and Peggy Carter, the writers of Avengers: Endgame think it’s a possibility.

Before I dive into this, I’m going to throw up a spoiler warning just in case some people still haven’t seen the movie yet.

As you know, Peggy Carter appeared in Avengers: Endgame and Steve Rogers went back in time to the 40s, married her, and lived a long happy life with her. A lot of fans have wondered if we might see a film or TV series that show us what kind of adventures they had together.

When asked by Fandango about the possibility of a TV show or movie for these characters, Endgame writer Christopher Markus said:

“Possibly. I think maybe all I did was Steve was a stay-at-home dad and Peggy went to work at S.H.I.E.L.D. I don’t know that there were any adventures.”

The adventures of Captain America Dad! Ok, it might not be the kind of story fans would want to see, all I know is that there had to be some adventures! It’s Captain freakin’ America and Peggy Carter! Markus seems to be showing a lack of imagination here.

When previously talking about Caps story arc in Endgame and why they didn’t end up killing him, McFeely said:

“From the very first outline, we knew he was going to get his dance. On a separate subject, I started to lose my barometer on what was just fan service and what was good for the character. Because I think it’s good for the characters. But we also just gave you what you wanted. Is that good? I don’t know. But I’ll tell you, it’s satisfying. He’s postponed a life in order to fulfill his duty. That’s why I didn’t think we were ever going to kill him. Because that’s not the arc. The arc is, I finally get to put my shield down because I’ve earned that.”

That being said, maybe Cap didn’t really do much. Maybe he was just a stay at home dad! He went on to say, Steve’s arc is “about trying to find some personal life, you know? Like he’s been a man for others for so long, when does he get to be a man for himself? And how is that not selfish? How is that just earned?”

So Steve Rogers found a way to find a life and it is a life that he so desperately wanted. I just can’t help but think that there’s a much bigger story to tell. Cap doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that wouldn’t get back into the action to help save people.

I wonder if he ever had any conversation with Howard Stark about his son Tony.
