Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley’s Sci-Fi Film CHAOS WALKING Finally Gets a New Release Date

Lionsgate has announced that the long-awaited sci-fi thriller, Chaos Walking, starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley will be released on January 22nd, 2021. The movie completed shooting in 2017, and was originally supposed to be released on March 1, 2019, then after Lionsgate executives took a look at the film, they deemed it “unreleasable”.

The film already had a $100 million budget, but the studio ended up pumping millions more into the production to do three weeks worth of reshoots to try and make the movie work. After going through with that, I guess they now feel the film is releasable.

The film is an adaptation of author Patrick Ness‘ young adult trilogy, and the film was directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith). Liman is a great director, so I wonder what ended up going wrong and caused the production to go off the rails.

The story takes place in the future, “on a distant planet called the New World which has been colonized by humans. Something called ‘the germ’ has seemingly wiped out all of the women on the planet, and an infection called the Noise has totally eliminated privacy: the men and boys can hear what everyone else is thinking at all times. A young man named Todd Hewitt (Holland) stumbles across the first girl he’s ever seen (Ridley) and eventually realizes that he may be the only one able to stop the planet’s destruction.”

The rest of the cast includes Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Mayor Prentiss, Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as Davy Prentiss Jr., Demian Bichir (Alien: Covenant) as Ben, Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter as Cillian, and David Oyelowo (Selma, Interstellar) as Aaron.

I hope that the movie ends up being good, but after all the problems that it’s had and the fact that it’s going to be released in January, I’m not expecting much.

New Details Revealed For Netflix’s RESIDENT EVIL Series

new-details-reveled-for-netflixs-resident-evil-series-social.jpg

Last year it was announced that Netflix would be producing a live-action Resident Evil series. The series is being developed by Constantine Film, who was behind the original film franchise.

In the initial announcement, we learned that the series would “expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the exciting mythology.” They go on to say that the series will keep “the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the movie franchise. The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-Virus.” The series is also “expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and easter eggs.”

We now have some new details to share with you regarding the story. Netflix recently updated its Media Center page and accidentally posted an official story synopsis of the project. They realized they made a mistake by posting it and pulled it down, but not before the Internet got a hold of it! Here’s the description:

“The town of Clearfield, MD has long stood in the shadow of three seemingly unrelated behemoths – the Umbrella Corporation, the decommissioned Greenwood Asylum, and Washington, D.C. Today, twenty-six years after the discovery of the T-Virus, secrets held by the three will start to be revealed at the first signs of outbreak.”

The series is expected to go into production soon and I’m curious to see how it turns out. I hope that they get a great and talented creative team to bring it to life.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Deleted Scene Features Hulk Busting Out of The Hulkbuster Armor

avengers-infinity-war-deleted-scene-features-hulk-busting-out-of-the-hulkbuster-armor-social.jpg

Before Avengers: Infinity War was released in theaters, some action figures leaked that showed Hulk bursting out of Tony Stark’s Hulkbuster armor. It was a scene that a lot of fans were excited to see in the film. But, as you know, the scene never happened in the final cut of the film.

Well, thanks to the Infinity Saga box set that was released, we now get to see how that scene plays out! It’s not a fully finished and polished version of the scene. It’s a work in progress that mixed some rough CG animation with the performance of Mark Ruffalo.

The scene features Bruce Banner pleading with the Hulk to come out and fight Thanos’ intergalactic thug, Cull. In this version, Banner and Hulk come to an understanding and Hulk rips out of the Hulkbuster armor to fight and kill Cull.

It actually looks like it would have made for a great scene, but the filmmakers decided not to bring Hulk back in this movie after being beaten down by Thanos earlier in the film.

Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 1 and Episode 2 Recap

Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 1 and Episode 2 Recap

Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 1 and Episode 2 Recap

Based on a popular comic book series, Netflix’s Locke & Key tells the story of the Locke family as they move to their father’s ancestral home, the Keyhouse, in Massachusetts after his murder. There, they discover keys with magical powers. In Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 1, Bode quickly learned the power of these keys, and in Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 2, Nina learned of a tragedy her husband experienced in high school.

Rendell Locke’s Death

The series opened with a man learning of Rendell Locke’s death. He decided to set a plan in motion, that resulted in him using a key on his chest and setting his house on fire. Three months later, the Locke family moved from Seattle to a small town in Massachusetts. They would be living in the Locke ancestral home, known as Keyhouse. The Lockes were known throughout town, and Uncle Duncan met them at the house to show them around.

Throughout the episode, we saw glimpses of how, the father, Rendell died. Rendell was a guidance counselor at the high school, and he’d been concerned about a student named Sam Lesser. Sam arrived at the Locke’s house and shot Nina, the mother, in the leg. Rendell charged Sam, who shot and killed him. Tyler, the oldest son, came home as the attack happened and saw Rendell get shot through a window. Kinsey, the middle daughter, hid with Bode, the youngest son as Sam went through the house with his gun. Nina used a hammer to ultimately subdue him. In the present, the Lockes were still dealing with the trauma of the attack.

Echo and the Keys

Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 1 and Episode 2 Recap

Bode found a well on the grounds with the gate locked up, but he could fit through the bars. A woman’s voice spoke to him from the well and befriended him. She told him about keys hidden throughout the house with powers. The Anywhere Key, for example, could take him anywhere he wanted to go if he’d seen the door before. This key was part of a bracelet that Rendell gave Kinsey that he called a family heirloom. Bode found another key in the garbage disposal. Echo encouraged him to show it to Nina. She was able to go through a mirror but was trapped there. Bode showed Tyler and Kinsey and got a rope. Tyler rescued Nina from the mirror, and Bode and Kinsey pulled them out.

Echo tricked Bode into giving him the Anywhere Key, and she escaped. After going on a theft and murder spree, Echo visited Sam in prison. She came back to check in with Bode, who tried to use a trap on her. She left unscathed.

Bode found a third key in the vacuum bag. He used it on a keyhole he found on the back of his own neck. It put his body in stasis and created another one of him. There was a box with his name on it.

High School Tragedy

Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 1 and Episode 2 Recap

Rufus tended the Keyhouse grounds. His mother, Ellie, came to greet Nina. Nina recognized Ellie from a photo of Rendell and his friends from high school. Joe Ridgeway, Tyler’s English teacher, told Nina he’d taught Rendell in high school and mentioned a tragedy. Ellie explained to Nina that three of their friends, including Rendell’s best friend, Lucas, drowned in the sea cave nearby. Rendell had never told Nina, and Duncan couldn’t remember the tragedy or much of anything from that time.

Christopher McQuarrie Teases Terrifying Stunts for Mission: Impossible Sequels

Christopher McQuarrie Teases Terrifying Stunts for Mission: Impossible Sequels

Christopher McQuarrie teases terrifying stunts for Mission: Impossible sequels

Director Christopher McQuarrie has opened up about the action-packed stunts and sequences that he has planned for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming action sequels Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8, which are set to premiere in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Speaking with Empire Podcast, McQuarrie has teased the three terrifying stunts that will be featured in the Mission: Impossible sequels, revealing that these stunts are far more insane than Tom Cruise’ famous Helicopter chase scene in 2018’s Fallout.

“He’s not going to space, nor does he need to go to space,” McQuarrie said. “We’ve figured out three obscene things that he’s doing that I’m terrified of, that make the helicopter chase look like tinker toys. [Tom Cruise is] training and he calls me and describes what he’s doing and I laugh and I cheer, then I hang up and I puke into a bucket. He’s training quite intensely right now.”

Joining Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell are returning Mission: Impossible alums Rebecca Ferguson (Doctor Sleep), Simon Pegg (Ready Player One), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction), Vanessa Kirby (Hobbs & Shaw) and Henry Czerny (Ready or Not) along with newcomers Shea Whigham (Joker), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers: Infinity War) and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road)

Following the large critical and commercial success of the past two installments, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie signed a new deal with Paramount to return to write and direct the next two installments, turning down other studio offers to continue his long-running partnership with franchise star Tom Cruise. Skydance Media, who joined the franchise with the fourth installment, Ghost Protocol, will be returning to produce the next two entries.

The Mission: Impossible franchise spans almost 25 years and six films, starting off with modest critical and major box office success in the first two films before launching its lead protagonist into grittier and more explosive stories, each film getting progressively better reviews than its predecessor, with the most recent installment, Fallout, earning the highest reviews for both the franchise and the action genre, currently maintaining a 97% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes while also acquiring the highest box office gross of the franchise at over $790 million worldwide.
