Clint Eastwood Set to Star in and Direct CRY MACHO

Clint Eastwood is going to continue to make movies until the day he dies. The guy obviously has a deep love for the art of telling stories through his films, and his new project sounds like another great story.

Eastwood has signed on to star in and direct a film titled Cry Macho for Warner Bros. The film is based on a book of the same title the was written by Richard Nash.

Eastwood will play “a onetime rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who, in 1978, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man’s young son home and away from his alcoholic mom. Crossing rural Mexico on their back way to Texas, the unlikely pair faces an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman may find his own sense of redemption through teaching the boy what it means to be a good man. The New York Times described it as a morality tale about two characters who help each other through tough transitions.”

I enjoy these kinds of stories. This is a perfect project for Eastwood, and a film that I’ll be looking forward to watching. Eastwood has already begun scouting locations for the shoot, and the plan is to shoot it and release it by next winter.

Al Ruddy and Jessica Meier are producing, along with Tim Moore and Eastwood at Malpaso. N. Richard Nash, who wrote the novel, also wrote the script along with Nick Schenk.

Lovecraft Country Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

Lovecraft Country Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

Lovecraft Country Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

In the previous episode of HBO’s Lovecraft Country, Atticus witnessed Hippolyta going through a portal, and the cops found one of Dee’s comics at the observatory. In Lovecraft Country Season 1 Episode 8, the South Side mourned the gruesome murder of Dee’s friend, Bobo.

Cursed

The wake for Dee’s friend, Emmett “Bobo” Till, was on the hottest day of the year and attracted a huge crowd. Dee disappeared while in line to go in, and Atticus, Ruby, Leti, and Montrose split up to look for her. Captain Lancaster found her, armed with her comic, and demanded to know her mother’s name. He cursed her with his spit. Two racist depictions of girls from the cover of a copy of Uncle Tom’s Cabin came to life in grotesque forms and followed her throughout Chicago.

Dee confronted Captain Lancaster who offered to remove the curse in exchange for the orrery. She spat at him and left. Dee tried to fight the girls while barricaded in her father’s shop. Montrose found her attacking invisible assailants, but her arm was gushing blood.

Energy, Intention, and a Body

While he was supposed to be looking for Dee, Tic met Christina in her family’s tomb. He offered the key from the orrery if she taught him how to cast a spell. Christina knew that he had Titus’ pages. She told him that he needed energy, intention, and a body as well as the words from the pages and showed him a symbol to draw with his blood.

Ji-Ah was at Leti’s when he arrived. She told him the truth about herself and what she’d seen. Leti was upset that he hadn’t said what had happened to him in Korea. Atticus told her that he’d protect them and left. He found Montrose, who helped him cast the protection spell. Tic confessed that he had also gone through a portal. He’d visited the future and come back with a book called Lovecraft Country, written by his and Leti’s son, George Freeman. Though there were differences, he believed most of what happened in the book had happened. He knew that Christina was going to sacrifice him during the autumnal equinox to gain immortality.

The Mark of Cain

Lovecraft Country Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

After Tic left, Leti went to church to pray for him. Christina met her there. Leti offered her negatives of photos of Titus’ pages in exchange for invulnerability for Atticus. Christina would only make the deal for Leti, who agreed. She gave Leti the Mark of Cain.

Captain Lancaster arrived at Leti’s with a street full of cops, claiming he had a warrant to search for the orrery. However, the spell protecting the house blocked Lancaster from the house. Leti realized that he knew magic. Lancaster left, only to order the police to shoot up the house. Atticus came upon the house at the same time. When a bullet fired toward him, a monster appeared before him and attacked the police. It wouldn’t attack Atticus or Leti.

“What I Want”

Lovecraft Country Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

After the wake, Ruby went to Christina’s. As William, she stopped a neighbor from harassing Ruby. They slept together after Ruby took the potion. Later, Ruby confronted Christina about not caring about Bobo’s death. At Leti’s, Ruby told her that she knew about magic and that Christina was helping her. Leti warned her not to trust Christina.

Lancaster beat Christina, tied her neck with barbed wire, and dumped her in the river, just as Bobo had died. Christina survived because of the Mark.

The Flash: Billy Crudup in Talks to Reprise Justice League Role

The Flash: Billy Crudup in Talks to Reprise Justice League Role

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emmy-winning actor Billy Crudup is currently back in early negotiations to reprise his DCEU role in Andy Muschietti’s highly-anticipated The Flash film. The 52-year-old actor made his debut in the DCEU as Barry Allen’s father Dr. Henry Allen in 2017’s Justice League.

This casting news comes four years after he was first cast for the Ezra Miller-led project, which was previously set to be directed by Rick Famuyiwa. However, due to the film’ s slow development as well as script and director changes, Crudup ultimately decided to leave the long-delayed film.

Warner Bros. first revealed that their Flash film would be inspired by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert’s Flashpoint comic as early as 2017. The studio even went so far as to change the movie’s title to Flashpoint. But following last month’s announcement of the film’s 2022 release date, it doesn’t sound like this is still the case.

It’s probably for the best that the filmmakers are going to make changes to Johns and Kubert’s original Flashpoint arc. After all, the story has already been brought to life in animated form and in the Arrowverse. In 2013, Warner Home Video released Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. A few years later, The CW’s The Flash aired its own version of the story during the show’s third season. With this, it makes sense that Warner Bros.’ film division would want to make something that stands out from prior adaptations. Plus, the timeline tampering could also be used a means of fixing continuity issues within the DCEU.

Set to be directed by IT‘s Andy Muschietti, the latest screenplay is being written by Christina Hodson which will still cover the famous Flashpoint storyline. It has been confirmed that Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will be reprising their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film.

The Ezra Miller-led Flash movie is now scheduled to be released on July 1, 2022. Miller first portrayed the scarlet speedster in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

A Widowed Father Cares For his Autistic Daughter in a Haunted House in Trailer For NOISE IN THE MIDDLE

I’ve got yet another trailer for a new horror film coming out soon titled Noise in the Middle. There’s a lot of different layers to this story and it looks like a unique and interesting little indie film worth checking out.

The story involves a grieving widowed father who is left to take care of his young, non-verbal autistic daughter. He is doing this while she undergoes experimental therapy and living in a haunted house. This all leads to the child awakening her psychic abilities. As I said, there are a lot of layers.

Here’s the synopsis:

After the sudden death of his wife Sara, Richard, a grieving and emotionally ill-equipped father, is left on his own to care for his severely, non-verbal autistic daughter Emmie. Before her death Sara had arranged for Emmy to partake in an experimental therapy and rented a house near the facility where the treatments would take place. Little does Richard know the house has a haunted history. While Richard struggles with his wife’s death he soon realizes he has no patience, skills, or even any empathy to deal with Emmie’s condition and begins to find solace in drinking and drugs.  As the spirits in the house grow restless,  so does the noise in Emmie’s head, awakening her psychic abilities along with Richard’s personal demons. When visions of his dead wife begin to appear, Richard is convinced she has returned to help him. But is the spirit really his wife or something more sinister sent to take them both?

The movie comes from first time director Marcus McCollum from a script he wrote with Glen Kannon. The movie stars John Mese (Night of the Scarecrow), Tara Buck (True Blood), Tom Konkle (Hornet), Juliette Jeffers (Lemon), Jim Holmes (How to Be a Vampire) and features Faye Hostetter as Emmie.

The film will make its exclusive, worldwide premiere on the premium AVOD Horror Channel, Kings of Horror Thursday, October 29th and will include a live stream chat with the filmmakers and several cast members. It will remain on the platform exclusively for 6 weeks before launching onto multiple digital platforms beginning Friday, December 11th.

Tenet and Hocus Pocus Duke It Out for the Top Spot at the Box Office

Tenet and Hocus Pocus Duke It Out for the Top Spot at the Box Office

Not much changed at the box office this weekend. Tenet remained on top with $2.7M, which brings its domestic total to $45.1M — which, obviously isn’t good. But fear not, overseas, the brain-numbing thriller has held firm and earned a solid $262M for a worldwide total of $307M. All things considered, that WW number is good-ish. The only problem is that, according to Deadline, Cineworld is considering shutting down its No. 2 U.S. chain Regal, which would obviously impact Tenet’s long-term legs.

Said Cineworld via its Twitter account: “We can confirm we are considering the temporary closure of our U.K. and US cinemas, but a final decision has not yet been reached. Once a decision has been made we will update all staff and customers as soon as we can.”

At this point, Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. are likely hoping Tenet can leg its way to $50-55M at the domestic box office and then make a splash on digital platforms and Blu-ray in the coming months. Though, considering its massive scale and big-screen appeal, the lackluster returns are quite disheartening for a film once touted to save theaters.

Coming in at No. 2 and giving Tenet a run for its money was the 1993 family comedy Hocus Pocus which pulled in $1.92M in 2,570 theaters. The Halloween flick has become something of a lightweight classic since its lackluster box office run all those years ago when it collected just $39M worldwide (per BoxOfficeMojo).

The remaining list was largely unchanged from last weekend save for a few new entries, Possessor Uncut (No. 7 with $227,500), Save Yourselves! (No. 9 with $141,631) and The Call (No. 10 with $140,567).

In the previous episode of Amazon’s The Boys, Stormfront revealed to Homelander that Vought’s true mission was white supremacy, and the Boys retrieved Lamplighter to help take down Vought. In The Boys Season 2 Episode 7, Victoria Neuman met with Lamplighter to testify before Congress, and Homelander brought Stormfront to meet Ryan.

“Do It in Front of My Statue”

Mallory arranged for Neuman to meet with Lamplighter. After she left, Butcher left Hughie to watch Lamplighter. Hughie sat with Lamplighter while he watched Supe-themed porn. When Hughie convinced him to turn it off, they saw on the news that Annie had been captured while meeting her mother. Hughie convinced Lamplighter to help him save Annie from Vought Tower.

Lamplighter led the way through Vought Tower. Hughie found himself in the conference room. Lamplighter was upset that they removed his statue. He’d wanted to kill himself in front of it. He self-immolated.

Hughie took Lamplighter’s hand for access throughout Vought Tower. He found Annie’s mother. The fire alarms going off gave Annie enough power to free herself. She found them in the hallway.

Congressional Hearing

The Boys Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

Mallory and M.M. had gone to see Jonah Vogelbaum to convince him to reveal what he knew about Vought. He declined because of what could happen to his family. Mallory told M.M. that he should run away with his family. He called Butcher, who Judy had called away. She had lied to Butcher that his father, Sam, died to get him to see him. Butcher visited Vogelbaum and convinced him to testify to Congress about what he knew. During the hearing, just as Vogelbaum was about to begin his testimony, the heads of people in the room, including Vogelbaum’s, were exploding.

Kimiko was important evidence against Vought, so Mallory tasked Frenchie with protecting her. As they watched over Neuman, Kimiko started teaching him her sign language.

Maeve violently flipped a table when she couldn’t convince Elena to change her mind. Ashley found Maeve in bed with a man, flying in the face of the “lesbian” narrative that Vought was trying to push.

When Annie had escaped, Black Noir found her. Maeve helped Annie and fed Black Noir an Almond Joy since he had a tree nut allergy.

Spider-Man 3: Jamie Foxx Teases New Appearance for Electro

Spider-Man 3: Jamie Foxx Teases New Appearance for Electro

A day after the news broke out about Jamie Foxx’s potential return as Electro, the Academy Award-winning actor has confirmed (in a now deleted Instagram post) that he has indeed signed on to star opposite Tom Holland in Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ highly-anticipated third Spider-Man MCU film. In his post which you can check out below (via Twitter), Foxx’s also teased that his villain character will be returning with a new appearance.

Because of this, fans are speculating if he will either play a different iteration of the character, or if it will be the same one as Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 leading the film into the multiverse realm. Interestingly, the deleted post also came with Spider-Man fan art, featuring Tobey Maguire, Garfield and Holland’s versions of the friendly-neighbor-hood hero!

Tom Holland will return for the film as the titular wall-crawler, and it remains to be seen what villains he’ll go up against in the trilogy caper. Given the ending of Far From Home however, any number of his rogues gallery are likely eager for a fight. The third installment to the MCU’s Spider-Man films will also feature the return of Zendaya (Euphoria, Dune) as MJ. Holland’s Spider-Man is also set to appear in another Marvel Studios film per the new agreement.

While most of the original series cast are set to return for the threequel, Foxx’s casting further blurs the lines across Sony’s three webslinging franchises, with the previous installment bringing back J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson from Sam Raimi’s trilogy and the studio’s Sony Universe of Marvel Characters led by Venom expected to crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe series soon.

Originally scheduled for a July 16, 2021 release, the film was first pushed back to November 5 and will now bow on December 17. The untitled third installment’s previous release date was recently given to Uncharted, with Holland revealing in an Instagram video that production on the webslinging title should begin around February 2021 after the conclusion of the filming for Nathan Drake’s long-awaited big-screen debut.

Sony’s upcoming Spidey slate includes the Venom sequel, starring Tom Hardy and directed by Andy Serkis, as well as Jared Leto’s in-the-can Morbius, a Kraven the Hunter film, and a spinoff featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat. Should these films interact with the MCU and Tom Holland, it remains to be seen, but the door seems open.
