WANDAVISION Director Teases Wanda’s Story Continuing in DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

WandaVision director Matt Shakman recently talked with TV Line about Marvel’s wild series and teased how Wanda’s story will continue with Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. We all know that the series will lead into the events of director Sam Rami’s film, which means when WandaVision comes to an end, there will be more of a story to tell that we’ll have to wait for.

Shakman teased, “We were trying to tell a complete story in terms of the narrative around Westview, N.J., and we hope that there’s some resolution to that story, and that it is satisfying and also surprising for the fans. But Wanda will continue into Doctor Strange [in the Multiverse of Madness], and there’s a lot more to her story to be told, so this is only one part of a very complicated and very rich life.”

So, when WandaVision does come to an end, there will still be some questions that need answering. There’s no way they are going to wrap up Wanda’s story in WandaVision, and that’s been the plan all along.

While there will still be some lingering questions, the creative team is confident that the series will come to a satisfying conclusion. But, the director also understands that not everyone will be happy with how it ends. He tells TV Line:

“We build this show with so much love and passion and care and attention to detail, and you just cannot understand how appreciative we are that the fans have embraced it with that much love and passion and attention to detail and theories, which are incredible. And I know there will be a lot of disappointed people with some theories and some who will feel very smart, but you can’t please everybody, obviously. But I hope folks enjoy the ride.”

That’s a similar statement to one that we shared yesterday from another interview. Anyway, WandaVision is a great and exciting set up for the Doctor Strange sequel and I can’t wait to see how the series comes to an end. We’ll find out tomorrow!

VAMPIRELLA Is on the Road to Getting a New Feature Film Adaptation

vampirella-is-on-the-road-to-getting-a-new-feature-film-adaptation.jpg

Mike The Pike Productions has announced that its subsidiary Arowana Media Holdings, Inc., has acquired the film, TV, and streaming rights to Dynamite Entertainment’s classic comic character Vampirella.

I’ve been a fan of Vampirella ever since I was introduced to her as a young teen. I’ve been wanted to see a new project involving the character and it looks like that’s finally going to eventually happen!

MIKP CEO and Producer Mark B. Newbauer said in a statement:

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to bring this amazing character to screen in a big way. Nick Barucci, founder and CEO of the prolific Dynamite Comics, is an incredible visionary with an eye for story, and a talent for integration into the zeitgeist.

“He and everyone at Dynamite have resurrected this character in a significant way over the past decade and this latest run with Priest feels like it’s just the beginning of her next 50 years and beyond. We are truly grateful for the faith and support of Dynamite, Nick, and their reps, including producer/manager Ford Gilmore of Illuminati Entertainment.

Vampirella has become (and as of 2021 remains) the longest-running English-language vampire comic book of all time, its latest run, helmed by Christopher Priest (Black Panther), is its most successful yet, with more issues sold in its 50th anniversary than any previous year and it continues to gain momentum in popularity as new readers discover Vampirella’s timely storyline.”

The most recent version of the character was done by Christopher Priest, who said:

“Vampirella’s supernatural abilities are a metaphor for a universal human condition, for being either rejected or idealized (or, in the case of our series, both) because you are different. Anyone who’s ever moved to a new town or a new school or taken a new job should be able to identify with Vampi’s challenges.

“Anyone who wears their hair a different way, listens to a different kind of music, embraces a different religion, anyone who steps outside of or gets shoved outside of the so-called ‘mainstream’ can identify this latest run on Vampirella. I hope it is precisely this universality of theme that helps broaden her audience; the Vampi tent is large enough for everyone.”

Over the years and in different publishing incarnations, Vampirella has clashed with the likes of Dracula; dodged the murderous intentions of Conrad van Helsing, and fell in love with his son, Adam van Helsing; had some “issues” with her mother Lilith (wife to biblical Adam before Eve was in the picture); took a young punk runaway, Sofia Murray, under her wing; and tangled with Fattoni, a sadistic Mafia boss.

Vampirella has also made a number of high profile crossover appearances in some of the biggest franchises around: Aliens, Batman, Catwoman, KISS, WitchbladeRed Sonja, and Archie Comics – a testament to her vast appeal and amazing versatility!

The feature is set to be produced by Mark Newbauer of Mike The Pike, Nick Barrucci and Juan Collado of Dynamite Entertainment.

I don’t know what to expect from this, but I hope to see some quality films, TV shows, and maybe even some animated projects come out of this. There was a Vampirella film that was released in 1996, but it did not due Vampirella justice.

The Korean Webtoon DR. BRAIN Is Getting a Live-Action Adaptation at Apple

Apple is set to produce a live-action series adaptation of the Korean webtoon Dr. Brain. This show will be the first Korean-language project to be developed at Apple.

I’m not familiar with the webtoon, but the story follows “a brain scientist who is obsessive about figuring out new technologies to access the consciousness and memories of the brain. His life goes sideways when his family falls victim to a mysterious accident, and he uses his skills to access memories from his wife’s brain to piece together the mystery of what actually happened to his family and why.”

That certainly sounds like an interesting and unique concept. The series will be written and directed by Kim Jee-Woon (I Saw The Devil, The Good The Bad The Weird) and Parasite star Lee Sun-Kyun is set to star. The series is currently in production in South Korea and is set to premiere later this year.

I’m a fan of Kim Jee-Woon’s film work. He’s super talented, and the fact that he’s developing this project is exciting. I’m confident that he’s going to end up doing a great job bringing this story to life for audiences.

Sigourney Weaver Gives Update on GALAXY QUEST Sequel

sigourney weaver galaxy quest.jpg

Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen and Alan Rickman were the headlining stars of the 1999 film Galaxy Quest, which turned out to be a cult classic for fans that continued to show it love over the past two decades. The star-studded cast also included Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl Mitchell, Enrico Colantoni, Missi Pyle, Justin Long, and more. Many fans wondered why after the film had success and a fanbase, we never saw a sequel.

Weaver recently sat down with Collider, and offered up a reason for the delay, as well as what she knows about the sequel, and why it will be difficult after having lost her beloved co-star Alan Rickman in 2016.

“They were in the middle of reviving it. First of all, there was another script. There was a sequel written by our writer, Bob Gordon. The movie was so witty, and when they released it, DreamWorks cut a lot of the wittiest scenes because they wanted to put it out as a children’s movie at Christmas. I think that was disappointing for everybody, so he decided not to let them have the second one. However, it was about four years ago, Bob and (producer) Mark Johnson and the whole group, started to develop a series. We lost the wonderful Alan [Rickman] unexpectedly, so that was put in mothballs, but I think they are finally now reviving it.”

She went on to add:

“It will be the story of the old ancient Galaxy Questers being brought into this series with another young cast. I haven’t read them, so I don’t know the details, but I think that everyone in Galaxy Quest would love to participate because it was such a wonderful experience for us. How they will find someone to play Alan’s part, don’t know, but I think that they have a very good idea of who to do it. He’s irreplaceable, eternally. I think there may be good news on that front, but I haven’t heard about it in these six months, so when it’s gonna happen, I’m not sure.”

So that’s positive news for fans who are looking forward to the sequel. We don’t know when it will happen, but everything seems to be shifting and moving into place after this past year, so hopefully, we will hear something soon. Are you looking forward to Galaxy Quest 2?

Ryan Reynolds Shares Photos From THE ADAM PROJECT With “Gamora, Elektra, The Hulk, and Himself (Deadpool)”

ryan-reynolds-shares-set-photos-from-the-adam-project-with-himself-deadpool-elektra-gamora-amp-the-hulk.jpg

Ryan Reynolds has shared a few new photos from the set of his upcoming film, The Adam Project, which just wrapped filming for Netflix. The co-stars he shared photos with from behind-the-scenes include Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, and young actor Walker Scobell, who is making his acting debut in the film.

In the photos, Reynolds humorously points out that each of his co-stars have played superheroes, and he determined that Scobell is destined to take his place one day. He said:

“Gamora, Elektra, The Hulk, Deadpool, and the kid who’ll eventually play Deadpool when I crawl into a box and turn into a skeleton.”

He continued on to give thanks in his Instagram post, saying:

“If #TheAdamProject is a fraction as beautiful and funny and wild as it was to shoot, then I guess we really pulled something off. Thank you @netflix @skydance and my spiritual, cinematic soulmate @slevydirect – Also, a lingering, uncomfortably indulgent hug to my beautiful hometown of #Vancouver. And in particular, the entire crew of #TheAdamProject who brought the ship to port four days ahead of schedule!”

In the film, Ruffalo is playing Reynolds’ dad, a brilliant physicist. Catherine Keener will play the movie’s villain, a woman who has stolen powerful technology from the physicist, and they are joined in the cast by Saldana and Garner, as well as newcomer Scobell, who will play Reynolds’ younger self. Stranger Things director and EP, Shawn Levy, who first teamed with Reynolds for the much-anticipated Free Guy, is directing.

I’ll share Reynolds’s post and a few of the photos below. The Adam Project doesn’t yet have a release date, but we are one step closer to learning what that will be. Are you excited for this movie?

Review: AMERICA CHAVEZ: MADE IN THE USA is a Great Start #1

Writer Kalinda Vazquez and artist Carlos Gomez are looking to tell a new adventure for the superhero America Chavez in their 5-part miniseries America Chavez: Made in the USA. The first issue released this week and it’s great so far. You can get your copy from local comic stores or other vendors including comiXology (affiliate link). Marvel Comics was kind enough to provide me with a copy for this review. I’ll do my best to not spoil major plot points of the comic.

WHO IS AMERICA? America Chavez is incredible – her origins, her strength, her dimension-shattering star portals! But when the foundation of everything she believes is shaken, America will stand up and face the parts of herself she’s been running from. From writer Kalinda Vazquez (Marvel’s Runaways) and artist Carlos Gomez (Amazing Mary Jane) comes an explosive, brand-new story all about what made America Chavez who she is – and what she’ll do to protect the ones she loves.

The comic starts with America helping Kate Bishop deal with some mutant moles in LA, but she’s running into a problem. This causes her to go back to her home in New York where her family and others are in trouble. She and Spider-Man help the people and we’re given the hook for the series. That is quite a bit for a 26-page comic.

First, I love Gomez’s art. It is absolutely stunning. Jesus Aburtov also gets huge points for their work on the colors. These two could work on any comic together and I’d probably be automatically sold. Vazquez also does a great job of building the story. We get to see America kick butt, we get to see her be heroic, but we also get to see some slight vulnerability. This has everything that a first issue should have. I have no complaints except that the next issue isn’t out yet.

Zack Snyder Reveals the Six Chapter Titles of JUSTICE LEAGUE

Zack Snyder has taken to Twitter to reveal the six chapter titles of Justice League. This movie is going to be drastically different from the one that the studio originally released. It’s going to be a very different beast. Hell, it’s over four-hours long!

The filmmaker previously talked about the reason why he included chapter titles in the four-hour cut of the film saying:

“There were a couple things. It was always it to be completed as one theatrical release, because it was made as a four-hour film. Now, remember, the film is chaptered anyway. It’s like, part one, ‘Don’t Count On It Batman’, and then about 40 minutes later – I forget exactly – part two, ‘The Age of Heroes’, and then on and on. That was the way the film was created just in my mind as the way it was easily digestible. There was so much and I just felt like this kind of chapters as you went forward was really the best way to absorb it.

So, for those of you who are interested in what the chapter titles of Justice League are, here you go:

Part 1: Don’t Count On It, Batman

Part 2: The Age of Heroes

Part 3: Beloved Mother, Beloved Son

Part 4: Change Machine

Part 5: All The King’s Horses

Part 6: Something Darker

In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, “determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.’“

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be released on March 18th.

Supergirl to Get New Comic Series SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW This Summer

Supergirl is coming back to comics this summer as part of DC’s Infinite Frontier era in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The series is written by Tom King (Batman/Catwoman) and illustrated by Bilquis Evely (Sandman Universe: The Dreaming) and Mat Lopes and will run for eight issues. Kara will have some choices to make as she comes across an alien girl who wants her help to seek out revenge. Something fun about the story is that Krypto will be there to back her up.

Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but has recently found her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for? Wherever she goes, people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame.

Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission: her world has been destroyed and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost.

Now, a Kryptonian, a dog and an angry heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core!

Fans will be able to read Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 on June 15.
