Persona 6 Confirmed To Be in Development

Persona 6 Confirmed to be in Development

Popular video games often get sequels and Persona is no different. Even though Atlus hasn’t formally announced this next entry, members of the team have confirmed that Persona 6 is indeed in development.

As spotted by PersonaCentral, publisher Atlus has posted a recruitment page on its website, which is in Japanese. There are a lot of different tabs, but the section in question is under the “Company Details” tab. In it, Director Naoto Hiraoka said (through Google Translate) that he felt the pressure of having to top Persona 5 and in stating his feelings on the matter, he also talked briefly about the pressure to make Persona 6.

“Thanks to you, we have a lot of support for Persona 5 and we have a sense of accomplishment,” he said. “But we can’t stop here. When we made Persona 4 before, we had Persona 3. There was pressure to exceed 5. Now we will have to make 6 that exceeds 5. However, it is difficult for the current team to exceed 5. I will join the company in the future. I want to work with you to overcome this high hurdle. It’s hard, but I think it’s the joy of creativity.”

While not a huge trailer or grand reveal, Hiraoka does confirm there that Atlus is developing another Persona game. However, there was no indication to any sort of release date. That same section did applaud Atlus’ willingness to not release games until they exceed expectations, meaning it could be quite some time until Persona 6 is more formally revealed and subsequently launched. After all, Persona 5 originally came out in 2016 and then Persona 5 Royale released in Japan in October 2019 and then in other territories in March 2020. Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden released in 2008 and then 2012, respectively. Given the scale of these games, Atlus’ other projects, and time between installments, Persona 6 may not be coming out soon.

TRON: LEGACY Director Joe Kosinski to Helm a Synthwave Sci-Fi Thriller Titled CHARIOT For WB

Warner Brothers recently acquired the rights for an upcoming film project titled Chariot, which Tron: Legacy and Top Gun: Maverick helmer Joseph Kosinski is set to direct. The film is an adaptation of the graphic novel recently published by Artists, Writers and Artisans (AWA).

The graphic novel was created and written by Bryan Edward Hill (American Carnage, Bitter Root), drawn by Priscilla Petraites (Rat Queens) and edited by AWA Chief Creative Officer Axel Alonso.

The project is described as a “synthwave sci-fi thriller with strong roles for two A-list actors”. The Chariot was “a Cold War-era secret government project to provide its star agent with a weapon unlike any other in the form of a state-of-the-art sports car. It sank into the ocean decades ago, the agent along with it. A petty criminal looking to reform his life has stumbled upon the Chariot, and he’s about to find out that the agent’s consciousness is still controlling it.”

That certainly sounds like a fun and interesting story. The movie will be scripted by Julian Meiojas (Jack Ryan, The Flash), and Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy is producing.

The Kosinski-directed Top Gun: Maverick will be released on November 19th. Kosinski is currently in post-production on Escape From Spiderhead, the Netflix film, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollet.
