David Fincher’s American Remake of SQUID GAME is Reportedly Still in Development

It was reported last year that Netflix was looking to develop an American remake of the hit series Squid Game and that they wanted director David Fincher to produce and develop it.

According to a recent report from The Playlist, Fincher is attached to the project and he’s been working on it for “the last two years or so.” They also believe that this project may be Fincher’s next directing gig.

There are no other details shared, but with Fincher developing the project, we know that it will be a well-made high-quality series.

Fincher was apparently so excited about working on this Squid Game project that he changed some plans around and put his Chinatown prequel series at Netflix on hold to work on Squid Game.

Fincher is said to be working on the series by British writer Dennis Kelly, who wrote Utopia. We don’t know how far along the Squid Game reboot is, but it should be interesting to see how it turns out.

I think this series would work really well if it is actually set in the same universe as the Korean version of the show, but it’s set in America. Maybe this will be an American chapter of Squid Game, and this will tell a completely different story in the United States. That would make more sense to me than a all-out remake.

What do you think about Fincher developing a Squid Game remake for Netflix?
