X-MEN ’97 Is Now the Highest Rated MCU Project on Rotten Tomatoes

The season finale of X-Men ’97 last week and after all of the reviews have been added to Rotten Tomatoes, the animated series has become the highest-rated MCU project of all time!

Honestly, who would have seen this coming!? I never thought that X-Men ‘97 would be as good as it ended up being, but it delivered everything that fans were hoping to see from it and more.

From the time the revival launched, the series was a hit with critics and audiences. Then as the series went on, it just got better and better. Now, it’s the highest-rated Marvel Studios project, live-action or animated, in the 16-year history of the MCU.

The previous top-rated Marvel projects are the Disney+ show Ms. Marvel (98%) and Black Panther (96%).

X-Men’97 revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

A second season in currently in development for X-Men ‘97, and there’s a third season in the early planning stages. As you might have expected, Marvel’s intention is to keep the show going for as long as possible.

There have also been reports that Marvel is looking to build an animated cinematic universe that would include other animated shows from the ‘90s including Spider-Man. With how awesome X-Men ‘97 turned out, I would love to see them expand on that.

The series features the original voice cast including Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.

DeMayo developed the series as the head writer and executive producer, but he was fired from the show. Jake Castorena is the supervising director and Charley Feldman is the supervising producer.
