Season 2 of Apple’s hit drama series Severance has finally wrapped production two years after it was given the green light. The first season of the show premiered on Apple TV+ in April 2022, and was renewed just before the final episode dropped. Fans were left with a cliffhanger that gave us the feeling the show was just hitting its stride, and we have so many questions that we are excited to see answered in the next season.
It’s been a long wait, as production was shut down in May 2023 due to the writers’ strike and filming didn’t resume until January 2024. But it looks like we are finally about to see that next chapter of the story be revealed.
The show’s costume designer Carol Deelay shared the update on her Instagram story, saying, “It’s a wrap on season 2,” which she wrote alongside a photo of a clapper board.
Severance stars Adam Scott as a team leader at the super-secret company Lumon, where employees are voluntarily severed from their personal lives. When they enter the elevator to start their day, their minds are switched over to their work selves, who know nothing of what goes on outside, and vice versa. It also stars Patricia Arquette, John Tuturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus and Christopher Walken. Severance was created by Dan Erickson, and is directed by Ben Stiller.
Story details for season 2 are still very sparse, but new cast members this coming season will include Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Merritt Wever, and Bob Balaban. Stay tuned for more updates.
