Marvel Studios is already developing the third season of their What If…? animated series, and it was revealed that Barbie star America Ferrera has joined the cast in a mysterious role. This casting news was revealed by creative team members Matthew Chauncey and AC Bradley during an interview on the CB’s Phase Zero podcast.
It’s been revealed that Ferrera will be voicing a character named Ranger Morales. This is a character that has appeared briefly in the comics, but they say that for the series she is “almost an original character.” Chauncey said: “Just for the clickbait; her last name’s Morales, people got very excited about that.”
Bradley went on to talk about Ferrera, saying: “She’s great. I’m so glad she is getting her flowers when it comes to Barbie, because — I shouldn’t say this, but hey, I no longer work at Marvel — Barbie was my favorite movie of the year, my favorite superhero movie, because Barbie’s a hero. And, so is America. That was the best. So, we’re so happy that she was willing to come in, and do this part in this random episode of What If…?. She was so lovely about it.”
