Trailer For The Theatrical Releases of Pixar’s SOUL, TURNING RED, and LUCA

Disney has announced that they will be releasing the three Pixar movies Soul, Turning Red, and Luca in theaters for the first time. These films were released on Disney+ during the pandemic, but they will now finally get a proper theatrical release. The studio has released a trailer promoting the occasion.

The three Pixar movies will be released starting on January 12th, 2024 with Soul, February 9th for Turning Red, and March 22nd for Luca. After that, Disney will release Pixar’s Inside Out 2 in June 2024.

Soul is co-directed by filmmaker Pete Docter (Monsters Inc, Up, Inside Out) and Kemp Powers. Luca is directed by Enrico Casarosa (La Luna). Turning Red is both written and directed by Domee Shi (Bao).

Soul “imagines that every person on earth comes pre-installed with a soul formed and perfected in a cosmic realm. Joe Gardner is a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22, who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.”

In Turning Red: “Growing up is a beast. Young actress Rosalie Chiang lends her voice in Turning Red to Mei Lee, a 13-year-old who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS). Sandra Oh voices Mei Lee’s protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, who is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager.”

Luca is “a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water’s surface.”
