Disney Executives Pushing Bob Iger to Consider Buying Electronic Arts

A new report from Bloomberg claims that The Walt Disney Company potentially has an interest in purchasing the video game publisher Electronic Arts.

The report says that Disney executives “are pushing” Disney CEO Bob Iger “to consider a bolder transformation of Disney from gaming licensee to gaming giant through, say, an acquisition of Electronic Arts. But, as with everything else, he’s been noncommittal.”

It doesn’t seem like it would be too far-fetched to think that Disney would buy Electronic Arts. They’ve worked together closely on projects over the past several years, specifically with Star Wars and Marvel games. So, Disney is looking to get more heavily involved with gaming and EA Games would be a big step in getting a stronger foothold in the gaming market than ever before.

As of right now, though, Iger isn’t obviously fully on board with going in this direction. But, if his deputies manage to talk him into it at some point, it could very well happen.

What do you think about the possibility of Disney buying Electronic Arts?
