Jude Law Says STAR WARS Is the Reason He Became an Actor

Jude Law will be making his big debut in the Star Wars universe in Lucaafilm’s upcoming series Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew, which is going to be a Goonies-like galactic adventure. Well, according to Law, the reason that he became an actor was because of Star Wars. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he explained:

“Probably the reason I started acting was running around a playground pretending to be Luke or Han or Chewbacca or Vader – that literally was what I was playing and acting as a child, Aand so being in it is both kind of surreal and seems very second-nature in some ways. And then also slightly out of body.”

Law went on to talk about how Star Wars played such a big part in his life, and it’s something that I think most of us can relate to. He said:

“Star Wars, for me, held a very particular place because it was as much a part of my childhood as going to school. Literally as far back as I remember, I remember having Star Wars in my life. It was the toys I played with, it was the toys I envied my friends had. I remember one of them having an AT-AT walker and I was never going to get given an AT-AT, so I’d go over and play at his house so I could use the AT-AT walker.”

Now Law gets to actually play around in the Star Wars universe, which seriously must be a cool experience for anyone who gets that opportunity. The series has been described as ”a galactic version of classic Amblin coming of age adventure films of the ’80s.” The story will follow four young kids from a tiny little planet, and they end up getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy and embark on a journey to find their way back home.

The film was pitched to Lucasfilm as “Goonies in Star Wars,” and it’s been explained that while the series stars four kids, “it’s not a kid’s show.” The adventure that they find themselves on is said to be an intense and dark journey. Jude Law is joined in the series by newcomers Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith.

e story takes place “during the post–Return of the Jedi reconstruction that follows the fall of the Empire, the same as The Mandalorian.” It’s been reported that Law’s character is “a teacher and the show is like a field trip into and out of the known Star Wars Universe.” The project is also set in the same universe as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. You can read more details on the series here.

The series was created by Jon Watts and he will also direct along with David Lowery(Pete’s Dragon, Green Knight), Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts), and The Daniels (Everything Everywhere All At Once) along with Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung, who both worked on the current season of The Mandalorian.
